tlg1903 Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Scott Bain is being released on a free by the tims on request as he wants first team football. Given he came through our academy that he would be worth approaching as he would tick multiple euro registration boxes. Quote

Would be ideal, plus Scottish, but hard for him to come here knowing he’s back up to mitov. I’d say we’re just as likely to sign Bain as we are Rico. Unfortunately. 1 Quote

Deal for Nisbet unlikely owing to costs involved Ronan Hale anyone now that County confirmed as being relegated Hale would be a good signing, replacing sokler or Ambrose in the squad. I’d take hale replacing sokler, bavidge replacing Ambrose, and miovski replacing nisbet. Still leaves us the big lump option missing up top though. One scot in the squad and one Scot out. suman is an interesting one, 25 year old Aussie. Not a kid, so I’m assuming he’s replacing doohan? Thought our back up keeper would be a Scot to help the quota. Quote
DantheDon Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 How’s Calvin Ramsays situation now? Injury has really hurt his development and his chances at Liverpool but I would imagine they may be willing to let him go on the relative cheap now. I know it’s not a priority position as it’s well covered but presumably he would count as a homegrown player in terms of the quota and he’s still a young guy who could develop into a great SPL player. Quote
wee toon red Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Our squad on Saturday (19 players) was one shy of being compliant with the euro rules. Despite losing Nisbet, Doohan and MacKenzie there should still be loads of room to meet the rules quite comfortably if some of the young guys who were on loan this year make the first 25 names for next season so I wouldn’t be too worried about that when it comes to signings. Couldn’t get a game at Killie, but then he couldn’t get a game with us under McInnes either so maybe not the best barometer. Quote

That’s one way to go, but are we padding out with players who will never play, or can we sign Scots, like a Greg Taylor, who make a difference. He’s going to be out of contract, I think he’s a good player and would be an excellent signing. Much like David Turnbull, perhaps Watson at killie, maybe it’s unlikely but they would be great and Scottish. Edited May 26 by OrlandoDon Quote

He's probably a situation now where his confidence is rock-bottom with all these loans that haven’t worked out. But he’s only 21, his ability doesn’t just disappear and from what I remember reading his attitude is spot on. Coming back to a familiar place with his family/friends around him might be what he needs to get back on track. I think we are going to need to rotate our squad with European football till Xmas and with Jensen seen as a versatile option I would say if the opportunity to bring him back arises we should take it. Edit: Also if McInnes had remained in charge I don’t think Ramsay or Jack MacKenzie would have made the first team. He would have rotted in the reserves for years before being released to a championship club. Edited May 26 by DantheDon Quote

They paid £2m for him so doubt they'll want to sell him, and if they do it'll be for a fee that we won't be paying. Quote

Perhaps, I threw him out there a month or two ago when he hadn’t been playing, plus with them being relegated from the championship, I don’t know how that affects Cardiff’s finances. Quote

Don't know anything about Suman is he coming in a number two choice or are we signing another keeper Has looked decent in games I have seen him in and a bit surprised he is coming to us to be back up as would have thought he would have had offers of being starter from a championship or maybe even bottom half Premiership club. tlg1903 Posted May 27 Report Posted May 27 Record q+a with Scott burns GraniteGrant asked: Will Aberdeen splash the cash and do you think it will be a Scandinavian-centric summer? Jimmy Thelin, the Scottish Cup-winning boss, will 100 per cent be backed. Chairman Dave Cormack has already said that a lot of the European money will go into the summer pot, maybe £4-to-£5 million. Aberdeen have already spent £400,000 on Nicolas Milanovic from Western Sydney Wanderers and fellow Australian Nick Suman will also sign from Cove. The Dons are also working on several targets with a left-back and European-based striker both high on their priority list. They do have an eye on the Scottish market but I do think the majority of the business will come from overseas. Quote

Panda Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 I didn't see it myself, but Dabbagh apparently was motioning this ()to Cormack during the celebrations, presumably asking for a permanent contract. Either that or he wants his autograph. I'd quite like to see him stay. I think he does have good movement and he's a player who with a full season behind him would improve. But then after what Thelin has done with Morris, I believe he could make anyone a player. 1 Quote

But then after what Thelin has done with Morris, I believe he could make anyone a player. I think we’re all very emotional and sentimental at the moment. Trust me, I’m over the moon too and watch highlights or penalties every hour! however, is dabbagh any better than sokler? He’s better than Ambrose but I still think if we’re taking a punt on one of our existing strikers, I’ll like it to be bavidge. Sokler dabbagh and Ambrose aren’t going to improve us. We need to replace nisbet and need another forward to push that signing, and it’s none of this 3. Two signings plus bavidge. If we loan miovski, highly unlikely I know, then I’d consider keeping sokler since those two played well together. and being more gloom and doom, jimmy just coached a very jimmy type of game successfully. From what I heard, that’s the type of teams and games he’s capable of creating. However, he cannot play that way in the vast majority of league games, and has still to figure out style of play and create consistency. One cup win in a one off game doesn’t hide the fact we’ve been the worst league team since early November. Feeling extremely optimistic and excited for summer signings. It’s year one of the three year project, or longer. A cup win is great but still lots to do, and new players are needed. Quote

Would expect both to be out on loan again, with an attempt to get them in at championship level. Bavidge failed previously at that, but no harm in trying again. I could see him being like Bruce Anderson. Good finisher, but not quite fast enough or strong enough to make the grade (but possibly go on to have a good career). From what I've seen, he doesn't look to have any real outstanding attributes that could see him breaking through. Quote

I love Tottenham as well. They’re kind of in charge of what I do. “I’d be grateful if Aberdeen came back in for me but it’s all in Tottenham’s hands.” We would probably need to lose one of Tobers or Milne (or even Devlin) to make it work unless we plan to go to a back 3 more often. Considering he'd barely played a first game game when he came to us in January, you could see the improvement as the remainder of the season went on, I could see him being a vital piece in our team next season if he returned. I have not been convinced by Tobers so far, although that's perhaps a little unfair. Class from Dorrington. Welcome back anytime. 1 Quote

We don't even need to talk about Ambrose. Bavidge is not at the level required yet. Am I suggesting Dabbagh should be our first choice striker, no, I'm saying can we develop him into a big part of the squad. Morris for me shouldn't be a first choice either, however he has shown he can make an impact as part of a squad and I think Dabbagh could be the same. Quote

That I have no doubt of. 1 Quote
Reekie_Red Posted May 29 Report Posted May 29 Dabbagh is handy in the box (as per the SemiFinal). Gueye is handy with his sheer size (as per the Final). But neither are good/consistent enough to be our first choice striker. If Miovski is a no-go, I'd go all out (perhaps break our record) to land a proven striker who plays in a similar quality league such as Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Hungary, etc. Have Dabbagh and/or Gueye playing off them Quote
