  1. I agree with the Steve Lovell/Wilson comparison, but as for the fee for May, I think all us dandies thought he would be a great signing for us, but it just hasn't worked out for him, possibly the injuries he suffered through the years means he will never get back what he once had which is a shame He will be difficult to offload whilst under contract, but we have had recent history of getting rid of players quickly after paying out fees for them. Watching us against Celtic on Saturday it is clear that we can't afford the level of transfer fuck ups we have had the ast few seasons or we will lose even more ground against them. I know we operate in a different market from Celtic, but it's the way the heads go down now when we go a goal behind is what worries me, previous teams under McInnes were always capable of coming back after going behind, we were even specialists at it for a few seasons.
  2. Well I went along and still scratching my head as to how we didn't go into half time in the lead. I know he missed his chances, but thought Wilson was very good today, showed his quality and can only assume he was using this opportunity to put himself in the shop window. No idea why it hasn't worked for him up here but watching him today you can see he has quality, far more ability than our top goalscorer, but as someone used to say it's a funny old game. Logan was out on his arse by the time he came off and then Halford had to go off injured not long after he replaced him which just summed up the second half for us. Scott Brown is a mutant of the highest order. They buried their greatest ever captain yesterday, but I doubt anyone will shed a tear when he snuffs it, a cretin. No idea why he decided to take out the young lad Ross so late into the game, but showed once again what a classless prick he really is. I didn't expect a win today and we didn't get one, but fuck we should have gave tham a scare by taking our chances.
  3. I renewed our season tickets on Wednesday night after giving some serious thought of chucking it and for the first time ever I renewed them online. There is no escaping the DNA thing though, they don't half come up with some shyte for it though. At some stage it told me 'become a real fan' and sign up for AberDNA or some shyte like that, which I thought was a real touch of class for mugs like me who would never sign up to any such shyte like DNA, but each to their own and all that
  4. I've decided to go along tomorrow so that's one less problem for DM to concern himself with, but have to admit not looking forward to it. I'm hoping we get a result like that end of season game back around 03/04, when the team of kids went to Parkhead and got a result. A few folk thinking Celtic may let us win tomorrow to clinch the league at Ibrox, but I think that is fanciful and also think Hibs can beat the Hun. 2-1 to us, but that is my heart talking. Big Sam and Gleeson with a 50 yard screamer. COYR
  5. Great news to hear and I wish we could sign players of his class more often.
  6. We do need more than 2 or 3 quality signings, but realistically we are not going to get the numbers in that we require quality wise, so be prepared for more dross to sign to make up the numbers. The kids may blow hot and cold but I'd rather see a young lad get a chance than another journeyman from England in making up the numbers. At the moment we are playing catch up with our squad due to poor signings in the previous windows. It doesn't matter who the manager is, any manager would struggle to find the quality we require with the budget we have. For me we are a little stale and we need something to keep the momentum of the previous few seasons going, whether that will be a new manager or not I have no idea, but another season like this one is not an exiting prospect.
  7. Like my post says I am looking to see us bring in quality, so we should try and bring in a couple of players who will improve us and make a difference to the team and ensuring we have done proper checks on the players and their characters. If we could make 2-3 quality signings then we worry about the other shyte we sign to make up the numbers which will happen, but we do need to bring in some sort of quality to the team, a midfielder is a must, but easier said than done, especially with our last few windows not being the best and our budget constraints. I'm happy we are keeping Considine, as he is reliable for the most part and I think most other clubs would be happy to have him in their squad. Also hoping to see the continuing progress of our own youngsters coming through as that is the future for us. It should be an interesting summer though.
  8. I think the onus has to be on bringing in quality this summer and forget about quantity. We are lacking quality in almost every area of the park, but finding the said quality required is going to be bloody difficult. I actually think we will have to rely more on our own kids from now on than trying to bring in established names who can improve us, which will be nigh on impossible given our budget constraints. I think one of the best things we could do this summer is get Lewis signed up on a new deal as I hate to think how bad we would have been this season if it wasn't for him.
  9. Only caught it on the radio, but we weren't at the races at all by the sound of it. They got two penalties and I haven't seen either to comment on them, but in the studio they were calling for Defoe to have been punished before they took the lead for his clash with Joe, but he appears to be a bit untouchable, dirty little bastard that he is. Really not looking forward to the other half of the cheeks winning the title up here on Saturday as cannot see anything other than a victory for them. I honestly cannot wait for this season to end.
  10. I have no issue with Considine staying and what appears to be seeing out his career with us. He is dependable for the most part and hardly ever lets you down, yes he makes errors, but is dependable enough for us in the majority of our games, but please don't play him at left back. You let him go and who do we replace him with? He is a far better player than either Ash Taylor or Anthony O'Connor were for us, so I'd rather have one of our own in the squad than another English lower league donkey.
  11. I want us to finish as high up the table as possible, the preference is to finish top, but we don't have that mentality as a club, regardless of how how difficult it is, so as high as possible. I don't think we will get anything from tomorrows game and it fucking pains me to write that, but clinging on to the hope that we are usually at our best when up against it.
  12. Yup, he doesn't want to leave, but the club are being a bit dickish with him at the moment so a bit of a stand off.
  13. He doesn't, but there is an issue between him and the club at the moment over him staying/signing a new deal.
  14. Last season wasn't too bad if being honest, we were still playing well in most games, although not quite as consistent as in previous seasons, I think the bonus of last season was the run in the final fixtures which clinched us the runner up spot in the league which at one point looked as though it may be beyond our reach. This season has been very poor, both performance and result wise. We have always had a resilience in the team since DM has been our manager and usually manage to grind out a result when required, maybe not the greatest of performances at times, but still grab the points, but this season has seen none of that. On the plus side we have a couple of kids in the team in Ferguson and McLennan which has been a bonus, the downside has been the failure of our key signings of Forrester and Gleeson and would have to lump Stewart in January into that bracket as it really hasn't happened for him up here again in my opinion. I would have been happier this season if the performances were better than they have been as I can get over us having a 'bad' season, I have seen plenty in my time and much worse than this one, but just the lack of entertainment on the park which is a major worry and has made me doubt renewing my season ticket for next season, I will, but not doing so with any enthusiasm and not looking forward to see who we bring in over the summer. A change of manager would be best, but don't believe it is going to happen.
  15. For me we have had Ball for two seasons and he has gave some good performances, but he is always going to be the type of player who is never too far away from disaster. I also appreciate he is not a right back and also filling in, but it's not as if it was like last seasons semi when he really was thrown in at the deep end. I just feel we should move on from Ball and see who we can get in, easier said than done, but handing out contracts to players who are not going to improve us doesn't sit well with me.
  16. Ball has proven that he cannot handle the pressure of the big games so for me any deal should be taken off the table. We need to attract players with a better mindset who will not buckle under the pressure of big games like many of ours are prone to do. For what it's worth i don't think keeping 11 on the park would have made much much of a difference to the overall result. We were always going to be up against it yesterday, but we looked like we were some diddy team from the lower leagues out for day out and a big payday rather than a team in the top half of the SPL.
  17. I just read ex Liverpool hard man Tommy Smith has died aged 74. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47913937
  18. I'll admit I'll miss Shinnie, but if he has to go I do hope it's England. One of my favourite players for a long time in the Aberdeen jersey and loved his approach and committment. We haven't replaced either Mclean or Hayes yet, so not holding my breath in replacing Shinnie anytime soon and have no idea who will step up to be captain, I don't think there are many leaders in our team. I would say Logan is the strongest candidate, but I feel is wouldn't help his performaces on the pitch, which haven't been that great overall this season.
  19. No idea who will be in the midfield on Sunday, but do expect a curve ball to be thrown by McInnes. I'm not going down as couldn't face another defeat by Celtic, BUT I honestly think we are going to get a result on Sunday, no idea where this optimism has come from, but just have a feeling that we will. 1-0 the Dons, Gleeson with a 45 yard effort in the 89th minute. See you all at the final. COYR
  20. I don't think I trust McInnes with a bigger tranfer budget. I think his past couple of windows have been pretty poor and hasn't really improved the squad. I know it is not an easy job trying to pick up the next big thing on our tight budget with every other club doing the same thing, but it shouldn't stop us trying, but you need good guys on the ground ensuring the players they highlight fit into our system and will add value to the first team/squad, due consideration should be paid to the youth team to see who realistically can push for first team and also who would benefit from a year playing out on loan, the one plus point this season is seeing our own players get chances, whether that is down to our main signings being poor and not fitting in to our style we can leave for another thread. Personally I think it is time for a change of manager I think we have come as far as we can with him and he would probably benefit from the change also.
  21. Well I dragged my arse along to it even though I couldn't be arsed and glad I did to see us get the three points and see a well executed goal scored by Max Lowe, fluke my arse. It what otherwise has been a very poor season for our players, with the exception of the young ones getting a chance, Max Lowe has been the highlight for the season for me, the boy is class and will be a big miss for us next season assuming we have no chance in getting him back. We had some great chances last night which we didn't take, but you could tell that nerves played their part in this both from the players and from the crowd, we do have a fair few wallopers in the crowd who love nothing more that to berate the team, I haven't got an issue with it at the end of a game, but don't really like seeing it throughout a match, you can see that the team is low on confidence and I am sure the constant heckling from the crowd doesn't help much. Hopefully we can kick on and go on a strong run to end what has been a fairly poor season football wise. No chance there was 13k at the game last night though.
  22. I think there is a good player in Stewart and he proved it at Killie, but he must regret coming back up here. The even sadder thing is I thought KIllie would be considerably weaker with losing him and although the didn't win for a few games they haven't missed him half as much as I thought they would.
  23. I bought her album last year and have to say I was fairly impressed with it.
