  1. No, for me Lewis is class and the standard he sets in goalkeeping should be the standard we look to bring in for any position in the team. I'd also be happy if Shinnie was used as a marker for quality of our signings. Easier said than done though in the market we trade in and we shouldn't just be signing players to make up numbers like we appear to be doing this summer.
  2. Joe Lewis by some distance. Having him between the sticks makes you realise how bad some of the shyte we had in the position before him and shows the difference a good keeper makes to the team. Joe should be the quality benchmark we use when recruiting for any position.
  3. Bryson should be a decent addition to the squad/team and may be in with a shout to be our captain, all being good he should help with the development of Ferguson also. Regarding Gleeson I can see him staying as a back up since it looks as though Ball is not coming back. Not saying it is right to keep him, but I doubt anyone would want him and our squad is thin enough. There may even be a chance he improves with us next season, but I wouldn't put any money on it. Hopefully see a couple more quality signings in the coming weeks.
  4. No real surprise with GMS leaving, despite having some great skills we shouldn't be overly worried about losing him. It would appear he is moving closer to Stuart Armstrong once again with him plying his trade a short distance along the coast. Seems a strange club to join though, I know they are a big enough club, but would say it is a backward move for him.
  5. Happy enough with the lad Hedges signing for us, a young player who may be hungry for a chance to prove himself, the type of player we should be signing, hopefully it all works out well and happy to risk on guys like these providing they have been properly scouted. Taylor and Main are a little bit worrying if that is the standard of player we are bringing in and I'm afraid they are more than just squad fillers. Taylor is not the worst defender we have ever had, not by a long way, but you just feel we should have moved on from him, he's not like a McGinn, who had something to offer by returning and offers that something extra on the field when required. Main I see as nothing more than a donkey and don't rate at all, yes he can bully defenders, but is a poor footballer and doesn't improves us other than being and tells me that I should prepare for another season of eye bleeding football. Glad to be proved wrong though.
  6. I see Frank Ross as more a central attacking midfielder than a winger, but hard to tell if he can make it based on the game time he has had to date, possibly not helped by injury. If GMS is staying we need to ensure he is fit to play football, he was out for a hell of a long time last season. On his day a great player to have, but on other days worse than a man short.
  7. On the EE site that we are interested in Wilson, just made up reporting during the quiet season or a genuine story? I'll go against the grain here and say I would gamble on him, IF we could get him on a decent wage, highly unlikely, but he may be open to using us a stepping stone to get his career back on track. Talent wise he is possibly head and shoulders above any other player we currently have, but whether we can get the talent out on the pitch every week is another matter, but would take him over Main everyday of the week.
  8. Be sad if Devlin becomes no more than a squad filler as he looked the real deal when he first started playing for us, can only assume injuries have taken their toll on him, which would be a shame.
  9. Taylor was far from the worst defender we have ever had and at times could look very good, but him re-signing doesn't fill me with much optimism. Curtis Main though really gives me feeling of dread and has to be a wind up.
  10. Clarke has had experience as an assistant at Chelsea and Liverpool and had a degree of success with West Brom, before he got the tin tack after a poor start to his second season. The job he did at Killie was nothing short of remarkable. He inherited a team from Elbows McCulloch who were one of the poorest teams I ever saw grace the field at Pittodrie (the fuckers still got a draw against us that day though) and who I think most folk had tipped for relegation that season to a team who finished in the top 6 last season and finished 3rd this season and all done with a far smaller budget than us, Hibs and Hearts and lost one of their best players to us at the halfway point. I hope DM was at least spoken to about the role as he deserved a crack at it also, but the appointment of Clarke is one of the few decision the SFA have made in many a decade I have agreed with and I think he was the standout candidate, with our DM not far behind IMHO. The best chance for Moyes for Scotland boss was just after he left Man Ure with something to prove, but sadly didn't happen.
  11. Well I for one am just glad it is over for the season as for the most part we have been poor compared to the standards of previous seasons under DM. It looks like DM is staying, but fuck he really needs to up his game if we wants to keep us up at the right end or the table and challenging for trophies. THat home run without a win was our undoing this season and fair play to Killie for finishing third, the job Clarke has done in his 20 months with them has been very impressive, but looks like he is off. See you all back on here in a few weeks as we mount our challenge for next seasons title. Have a good summer.
  12. Jeez, that is depressing reading. Here's hoping it is just a wind up. (Not saying you are on the Wind Up Ten Catt)
  13. I don't think he will improve as a player, he might offer a bit more consistency if given a run of games in the middle of the park, but wouldn't be willing to take the chance. I would put him League two, bottom of league one standard in England and I hear what people are saying about squad player who can cover a few positions, but for me we need to set a better standard than him even for a player on the bench, I'd rather have another kid on the bench than Dom.
  14. I would like to think Max has a bit more about him now after being here a while and seeing how much we detest them.
  15. A terrible document to read, full of corporate bullshit.
  16. I believe the SFA should be chasing McInnes, his record at Aberdeen should be enough to have them interested. It would also be a good time for him to move on from us as both he and the club are becoming a bit stale and I don't think he will get anything which is a step up from Aberdeen club wise for the foreseeable future, so the national managers job could well give him the chance to move back up the career ladder long term, IF he were to make a success of it and I think he would do a good job.
  17. I'd like to see us finish 3rd, but I'm not too fussed about Europa League qualifiers. I too think we will get the win, but I think the zombie club will beat Killie. 1-2 Wilson & Shinnie
  18. I believe Northampton are looking for a 6 figure fee for Ash and I don't think we should be paying anything like that for his return.
  19. He didn't look comfortable at all in the second half, but I think he made the call to stay on as Cerny was all ready to come on. Every time he kicked the ball to Marshall before the restart you could see he was really feeling pain. Have to agree with you also that if he was fit he saves the shot which gave them the goal a few of us in the Merkland Stand thought the same thing, but thankfully it didn't cost us the three points, but still feel we shouldn't have risked it.
  20. A draw wouldn't have been a fair result. We maybe are not Brazil 1970 standard, but we haven't slipped as low as that bunch of hammer throwing bastards, whatever it is they take to the pitch to play it ain't football. I think Levein will be sacked when they lose the cup final next week. It wasn't great, but we won and just happy that we signed off at home with a win. Good to see Stewart get that goal which proved to be the winner. Thought it was a bad decision to keep Lewis on after he was assaulted twice within a space of a few minutes, you could see he was struggling, the boy Cerny was all set to come on, but saw the game out on the bench, who'd want to be a reserve goalie. Good ovation for Shinnie at the end and I for one am going to miss him.
  21. Reading this thread and the names being mentioned as possible signings is hardly helping my mood prior to tonight's game. With that type of names being added to our squad I feel I may regret buying my season ticket so early for next year. Hopefully it is all just shyte though. Curtis Main
  22. I'd quite happily try and get deal done for Hoban, not an ideal scenario, but the chance of getting a quality player who could potentially get us some money in the long term is one I would be willing to take and sure he would be easy to deal with.
  23. I thought Ball played very well against Celtic, but his biggest issue is being classed as a utility player, jack of all trades master of none. I have to admit that Ferguson is not impressing me much, but I do believe he has just played too much football this season. Really need someone to come in and improve the midfield and find a leader to replace Shinnie.
  24. Just want Fridays game out of the way as never wanted a season to end so quickly as this one in quite a while, I know we still have to go to Easter Road, but I won't be at that one. It would be good to see Shinnie in the red shirt one last time at Pittodrie and I think he hopes to make an appearance before the season finishes, but we will wait and see. Not sure if Logan will be able to start or not, so may see some more tinkering in the line up, but would imagine it would be the same line up from Saturday if Logan is fit. It will be a battle against the Gorgie hammer throwers, but hopefully we can end our home campaign with three points against them. COYR
  25. Even though I knew it was coming, it is still sad news to read. Loved seeing Shinnie in the red shirt, always gave his all and has the heart of a Lion. At the game on Saturday I was pining for Johnny Hayes to be back in the red jersey again. Have a feeling we will miss Shinnie as much as we miss Hayes and think we will struggle to replace him, we may get a better midfielder, but I doubt we will get someone with the drive and determination of Shinnie and good captains don't grow on trees. Fuck I'm gonna miss him.
