Well said, saved me a few minutes puting my thoughts down. I don't want Calderwood sacked, but I wouldn't lose too much sleep if he decided to walk. The big nobs at todders need to start showing some ambition though, and soon.

Whatever happened to that 'fatjim' bloke?
-
Whatever hapened to the 'deen'? I was really pissed when I wrote that last night, but I stand by it today. It's been a shit week but that wont spoil what's been a real rollercoaster season. The good times have been fantastic (and there's more to come), the bad times have been excruciating, that's what supporting the dons is all about. I'm going to the Munich games home and away and I'm determined to enjoy it.

I think I can shed some light on this phenomenon. Maguire is shite.

After todays result can I just reiterate the original sentiment of this thread? Another sore one today that's for sure, Tims were a class above us. However let's not lose sight of the facts. The depth of quality in their squad is frightening, Killen, Robson and Samaras on the bench, Riorden not even in the 23 man squad, these are big name players with values to match, players who would walk into any non old-firm side. We know we can't live with the OF over the course of a season, we hope that 'on our day' we can. Today we couldn't, but not many teams would have taken anything from Celtic today. This is not a level playing field. Their 4.5 million pound midfielder was excellent, their Ireland International winger was class. Maybe if we'd brought on our 1.5 million quid January signing he'd have scored with his first touch? Remember this, anybody could be a Celtic fan. It would be easy peasy. Just turn up and watch your team steamroller the opposition every week. Great. But we're different, we dont do things the easy way. Aberdeen is our team. It's part of us, it's in us, it's never going to go away. This is what makes us so fantastic. We are Aberdeen fans, and we're the dog's bollocks. In a perverse way today has made me more confident about the Bayern game and the Scottish cup tie. Something will go right for us, and after a horrendous week (our worst for a long time) I just have a feeling there could still be something special round the corner. Dont give up, keep believing, stand free.

If he's the type of person who chucks it after a result like that, how the feck did he make through the nineties? Just unbelievable. Did anyone else read the 'article'?

Lovell dropped due to fight with Sandy Clark?

"The semi-final was a disgrace and Aberdeen's season is over now. We will not beat Celtic in the Scottish cup and have no chance against Bayern. My season and Bayern tickets are up for grabs. Hopefully I could give them to a charity or a disabled fan who will get good use of them." Frustrated dons 'fan' Mike Kain. I mean, what the fuck? Give them to a disabled fan? Twat. Because disabled fans cant afford season tickets? Fucking muppet. Go and support the old firm, they win most weeks.

...all is not lost. We blew it on Tuesday, best chance of a trophy in years. We were undone by individual errors again, but we still have some quality players, and we still have plenty to play for. -We will give Celtic a game on Sunday. -We will give a good account of ourselves against Bayern next Thursday. -We can go to Munich and enjoy a great occasion in a great stadium. -We have nothing to lose in our 1/4 final aginst Celtic, Hearts put them out of the CIS cup ffs. -I'm not prepared to surrender third place in the league just yet, considering we're competing with a team of cloggers (Utd) and a side that will struggle to sustain their good form through a period of fixture chaos ('well). Stick with it lads, through thick and thin. Unlike that prick in the EE last night who's bragging about "never returning to Pittodrie" and giving up his season ticket. Good riddance I say, the club should ban the fecker for life in case he decides to go back on his word. Stand free.

Great.

Huge game for Hearts as they try to secure SPL survival, a relegation 'six-pointer'.
-
Maybe afc-chat is the new sponsor, re-investing all those donations back into the club.

Cyberpint for the first person to guess who said this, was it... A. Stewart Milne or B. Eddie Thompson

Jimmy quoted as saying "We used to be a tough outfit to beat....But we got done from two dead-ball situations, which they live off, and it was sloppy defending from us." As you say, the club decided to cash in on Anderson and Hart, neither have been adequately replaced, end result is a team that is no longer a 'tough outfit to beat'. Of course Jimmy has his part to play in all of this, even an average defensive line up will perform reasonably well if they are settled and playing together every week, which ours are not.

ST, ta. Hopefully the 'painful death before the final' comment was made in the heat of the moment and will be rectified today. I notice the good people of Donstalk managed to restrain themselves from any such slur.

Perhaps this thread would have been better started once the dust had settled on tonights disapointment.

I'm not trying to be a good loser, I'm absolutely devastated about tonight. That devastation is making me look for someone to blame, and while the hysterical masses over on the hat will be clamouring for JC's blood, I'd prefer to see the blame for our lack of success be directed towards the clubs lack of ambition. And for me that means Stewart Milne. We were within a ball hair of Hampden, but the January transfer activity shows how much that meant to the Board. Fuck all. We adopted a couple of players no other club really wanted - to replace two first team regulars. Meanwhile Utd cash in on Robson, ship out the dead wood (to us as usual), and bring in a couple of proven performers to get the job done. Jimmy can only piss with the cock he's been given, and it's not a very impressive cock.
-
Listening to Craig Levein and Eddie Thompson making their post match comments, I've turned from bitter disapointment and a touch of rage, to genuinely hoping they go to Hampden and complete the job. It's clear that their Chairman is seriously ill, and after eveything he's tried to do for Utd I hope he gets his reward on March 16th. I am gutted about tonight, I'm nervous that the coming few weeks could see our season slip away to nothing, it hurts us all to be so close to Hampden but to see it slip away. Whilst proud of the players achievements this season, I'm very aware the end result could be the square route of fuck all. Happy memories from a few drunken trips abroad - but nothing tangible yet again. As ever at Aberdeen Football club, the ball's in Mr Milnes court. Stewart, take a leaf out of Eddie Thompson's book and it could be you making emotional speaches to your adoring public.... No? Didn't think so.

Told ya. Fuck me, that's a sore one. -
Sneckie, is this going to be another hooters night?
-
Ok, enough. You're giving me the needle now.

I love it when people inject a bit of humour into a thread. It's really cheered me up, a shot in the arm, so to speak.

Bayern have Luca Toni, United have Lee Wilkie.
