  1. I'd like to hold on to Brewster while he is still able to play, I think he'd be a valuable asset to the club in a coaching role so perhaps if he ends his footballing days here we could be able to persuade him to stay on in such a capacity. He certainly is a model professional and is probably the most physically fit player we have at the club. A contract extension sounds a good idea as long as it is not a daft 3 year deal or anything like that. I guess it would be until the end of next season or so.
  2. Not having attended the game it is hard to comment much on how the team performed, but from the radio it seemed like we really missed Hart and Foster - two young players who have had a very decent season in general. From what I gathered, Dan Smiths appearance in a red shirt was very much a mistake as he brings little to the game - a partnership with Richie Byrne on the left side was never going to be a success though. But to Richie's credit he made a good effort of dumping Sylla to the ground as they tussled and made some vital blocks towards the end. In a game where there wasn't really a stand out player for Aberdeen, a back-from-injury Richie held his own. Langfield made on or two vital saves that could have easily led to goals, but he also made one or two flaps that could have easily have led to goals - not inspiring much confidence but he has been part of a defence that has not leaked many goals this season. As for our striking options Brewster is an intelligent and skilful player but he can't last the pace of an entire game - I see him more as an impact player who can come on towards the end to harass a tired defence. The problem is that we didn't do much during the game to tire out the defence! Midfield should carry a lot of the blame for that - they just didn't turn up. A smash n' grab as they say, but 3 valuable points nonetheless. I seem to remember a similar game up at ICT last season where we should have been comprehensively beaten but somehow ended up with the points. My hope is that with the missing players returning we will regain a sense of normality on Saturday - we'll need to be at our best to beat a Dundee Utd who lacks ability but will be high on confidence.
  3. Its a noble cause I'm sure but I don't think an e-petition is the right way to go about it. I'm more than happy with RedTV: cheap, on anytime I want and is all about the Dandies.
  4. We just didn't show up today - the usual reliable defence let us down today, a rare occurance and a rampant Rangers took full advantage. Lets not go too overboard about todays result. It is more frustrating because it is against THEM but we have to think long term. I'll be happy if we keep grinding out results and keeping hearts off our tails to secure 3rd place. Hearts humping and imminent collapse softened todays blow somewhat - still disappointing though. 1991 ffs.
  5. I knew it wouldn't be too long before we'd be bumping up this thread. Bad day for us so far but at least Hearts are getting beat 0 - 2 to United at Tynecastle. Hearts fans are "streaming for the exits." :D
  6. 3-0, thrown away the game before it has even started. If only the players were as fired up for this as the fans.
  7. 1. TheChimp 2. Nessie Nespa! 3. mg_don (I hate the Huns) 4. E-P-K 5. Mizer 6. wee toon red 7. topcorner 8. Drewsome 9. Shakey heid man 10. JimmyJimmy
  8. Tyrant, giving yourself about 1000 'ratings' or whatever is probably the saddest thing I have seen on the internet. Ever. Are you expecting a lot of boos or something?
  9. Snelders save to deny Hately and then injuring him in the process. What a save, what a player.
  10. I'm trusting that JC/JN see something in Touzani that most of us haven't yet - perhaps in training. I don't think he has been on the pitch long enough for us to make a complete assessment of his ability as he spends more time injured. My first impression of him was that he was quite a versatile player who could slot into midfield or defence and could distribute the ball better that many of our players - but it is hard to say if he can do it consistently. For a 2 year deal I hope he gets back to fitness soon and gets a run out to prove his worth.
  11. I think the optimism levels for next season are critically hinged on how we finish off this season. A chance of European football I'd hope would boost confidence in the team and fans, we'd see players more likely to renew contracts, fans would hopefully return and we'd see season ticket sales go up. 3rd is a minimum for the team this season. If we don't make it it'll be a bitter blow to the club with another chance of Europe passing us by agonisingly closely. Heads go down and the doom and gloom that is never too far away would return - in the fans and the players. Making the step up to the UEFA cup is crucial for us imo.
  12. I was near the fence for the Hearts game, but sure as hell didn't hear any monkey noises coming from our end. I did happen to see a 2 pence piece flying from the Hearts fans and missing the SS linesman by a few yards. The linesman didn't notice it at all - I felt like picking it up and showing it to him but would probably get lifted wandering on to the track!
  13. Alright chaps, JimmyJimmy, 22 from Ellon but now living in Aberdeen. Also on AFC Hat so I'll have to make a choice which board to use - I'll get no work done if I use both! Studying Mechanical Engineering in the city and expect to graduate in a few months time :fingerscrossed: ..then hope to get a wee bit of travelling done before I start work. Can't remember my 1st game at Pittodrie, although I'd say it'd be early 90's with the old man in the main stand. Spent time in the Merkland as a wee laddie, SS when I grew up a bit, a few years spell in the DickyD and now back in the SS. I've seen Aberdeen at two cup finals and watched them lose both, and I've also seen my team beat Rangers at Pittodrie 3 times [which is not nearly as much as I'd like! ] Looking forward to next season's European adventure... [Edit: I am also reigning champion on Technobounce]
  14. Excellent finish from quite an awkward position. More of the same next weekend please.
