  1. I'm all for a foreign manager, just in the interest of trying something different and getting away from the reverence of the in firm. But I think we just generally need a manager who will give our own skillful youth players a chance.
  2. He does say "whether that's at Aberdeen or elsewhere" which suggests he's not ruled out signing another deal. But if he keeps going the way he is any new deal would surely need be based on him being in first team. I think he would deserve that opportunity, but knowing McInnes it wouldn't surprise me if he gets told he will be a backup and goes elsewhere.
  3. I forgot to change mine. Looks like it will be a pretty poor points tally again this season.
  4. McInnes seems to be having a little bit of a dig at the board for the January dealings post match St Mirren. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55959970 Another sign that his and the boards relationship has soured.
  5. Horrible own goal by Lewis. Not a great start.
  6. Good luck to him. I hope he does well. If he can score goals in the championship there will no doubt be silly money paid for him and I'm sure we have a sell on clause.
  7. Would hope there is an option to purchase if he does well. Otherwise we will need to find someone else come summer. Edit: Just read the article. No option to buy which just means we are developing him for Stade Reims which is depressing.
  8. Reckon Anderson will be another one of these youngsters where we just don't know how it would have worked out if he was given a chance. I think managers who have a good track record of bringing through youth do so because they know how to inspire confidence in youngsters and give them opportunities at the right time. I don't see McInnes giving him a proper run before the end of the season and being restricted to five minute cameos at the end of games must become demoralising for youngsters after a point.
  9. Really frustrating to see any of our players going to the Rangers, but I agree with whats been said above. We haven't handled his development well so I'm not really surprised Wright doesn't feel particularly loyal to the club. You never know if a player will choose to wind down his contract but if he had been getting regular games and developing surely it would make him think twice. The worst thing is that at the moment he is making the team tick and is an important part of the attractive game we are trying to play.
  10. I think there is great potential in this squad but its not currently better then the one that pushed Celtic under Deila. I think we are also going to struggle to keep this squad together long enough to fulfill its potential. I can't see most of these guys wanting to stick around for longer than there current contracts.
  11. You are jumping the gun though. The manager said the huns are interested. There is nothing to say he will end up there. I'm not going to say he definitely won't go there but until he signs for someone you have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
  12. Worst case scenario mentioned today is that we are going to swap Wright for Stewart. I'd rather we just bought through a youth player then persist with someone we haven't been able to get the best out of on two previous occasions.
  13. I thought undersoil heating was a requirement for being in the SPFL?
  14. Kennedy problem seems to be his final ball. He's good with the ball at his feet, got pace and even seems to have a decent work rate. But all the games I've seen with him I can't recall a single one where he just put the ball on a plate for the striker.
  15. Shame about Watkins, his movement is exactly what we need up front. However it would be great if we could identify a player that can do that side of the game well and chip in with more goals as well. Watkins was never really a goalscorer and as much as the football was good with him in the team I feel that to go up a level we need a natural finisher in the team as well. That said I appreciate that it is hard get such a player.
  16. Only managed to get the second half, our final ball was atrocious every time. Motherwell sat in and defended well, but definitely two points dropped there.
  17. Maybe could have done better there but I think your being a bit harsh. Thats his 8th goal of the season? He's also our best creative player in general at the moment.
  18. I think there is a lot of foreshadowing of these sort of things happening at the moment so I can see why Cormack is probably trying to get us involved and protect our interests. In its current form the proposal sounds pretty horrible to me. I'd be more in favour of scrapping the league cup and having some sort of northern Europe cup, but not the whole league. I don't necessarily think increased European competitions are a bad thing but obviously they will become a closed shop unless there is a more even distribution of the prize money. There was recent BBC survey of fans (only in England) that didn't show great support for a European super cup: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55159249
  19. Pretty poor form we are in at the moment. Hamilton and St Mirren twice and we come away with two draws and a defeat. I know we are struggling with injurys a bit at the moment but the early season optimism I was feeling has definitely waned. Hopefully just a blip but I could easily see our season turning into a battle from here on in.
  20. Just repeating what I wrote in the St.Mirren thread as I think it merits further discussion. Hernandez has been a bizarre signing. He cost us reportedly around 800k putting him not far off our record signing and he's a Venezuelan international. Yet he's not even got a sniff of first team action this season. If he really is that much worse than what we have got how can we get a signing that badly wrong? I think probably Forrester had more game time than he has had so far.
  21. While we are on the subject of our signing policies.
  22. I didn't realise this was an early kick off and with being pretty busy in general I missed it. Like I said in another post I feel failing to beat Hamilton is unforgivable and should mean some of these guys getting moved on, there just stopping youngsters coming through at the moment.
  23. Just make it 6-2 with Considine for a double hatrick.
  24. If we can't beat Hamilton at the moment I would say some players need to be booted out. The way they have been playing recently I would like to think our second string would have enough to get the job done.
