  1. Sorry should have been clear I meant Kristiansen. Heikkenen was a Paterson signing, but I think he did well in Calderwoods first season with us.
  2. Forgot we actually signed him. Often used to buy him on championship manager 03/04, where he was ace.
  3. Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes hopes the arrival of Venezuela international Ronald Hernandez is the start of an influx of foreign talent at Pittodrie after the club expanded their scouting network. (Daily Express, print edition) Theres your answer Seebass.
  4. Fair enough big Al, I hadn't read that so I was uninformed. I got the impression he had refused our offer of training facilities. If that's the case I don't have a problem with getting him in on a mostly pay as you play type deal.
  5. 1 million in 1995 must be worth about 2.5 going by inflation. However Football is a different thing altogether Andy Cole joined Man utd for 7 million in 1995. Even if you discount some of the outliers a lot of players are going for around the 80-100 million mark. So from that point of view Bernard today would have cost somewhere in the region of 10-15 million today. Also I don't know if I would offer hoban anything at this stage. He obviously doesnt fancy joining us, so what's the point.
  6. I presume Cormack is willing to take the hit if it doesn't work out, he seems like he is a proper supporter so I hope he wouldn't walk away if it does go wrong. And although its a lot more than we have paid for anyone for a long time its still not a crazy amount especially with what a European run could bring in nowadays. There was a few times during Milnes tenure that had he invested a little more at the right time we could have moved forward instead of regressing but he didn't do it. I think we are at that point again (and possibly have been for a few seasons) where we need a little bit more to get us back on track. Unfortunately there are certainly no rules that forbid benefactors coming in and splashing the cash. In fact sadly in modern football its almost always a prerequisite to success. Look no further then sevco who are making massive losses. I believe the financial fair play rules which Fifa have implemented allow clubs to make a loss of £30million a season before they get penalised. That may curtail the PSG's a bit but at our level its an irrelevance. Anyway hope this can push us on I really would like to see a few more European nights at Pittodrie before we move.
  7. Out of the Calderwood era dutch contingent I seem to remember Karim Touzani and Ferne Snoyl where the only two who looked decent at the time. Touzani was dutch U21 who had been on the verge of a £1.5m move to PSV. Then he got injured and its seems his fitness issues stalled his career. Seemed to remember Snoyl looking half decent for us, but it looks like his career petered out and he was done by the age of 25/26.
  8. Kennedy is Scottish. Represented Scotland at all youth levels.
  9. To be fair to McInnes he was saying that once the training facilities were sorted we needed to sort our scouting. Seeing as that is the case you would assume he would be happy to delegate to said scouts identifying players. Although I'm sure he would always have to buy into the signings we make.
  10. Was going to write a long detailed reply to rocket, but I've either not got the attention span to do it or perhaps its because I'm just not offended.
  11. When you look at it like that it has been a pretty good window for us. Like you say we need a number 10 but I suppose it's not easy to get that sort of player without paying a decent fee.
  12. Being linked with Ross Stewart from County. Apparently Hibs are in for him aswell. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ross_C._Stewart
  13. Apparently they are set to make £3 million quid bid for Shankland. Although I think Shanklands probably will do well in the SPL he's not proven, so Big Sam must be worth an extra million at least.
  14. Sounds like the usual shite, we seem to be getting worse at the moment. Considered going along tonight glad I didn't.
  15. Sounds like we got out of Jail with the penalty. Think the fact that we struggled to break down a League 1 side sums up our problems this season.
  16. Apparently Hearts are now in for Matty Kennedy. I would hope considering there is a good chance Hearts wont even be in the SPL by the time he joins that we would be in a stronger position.
  17. I think Mcinnes has got better at blooding young players. But at the same time there is no doubt he has mismanaged some of them. I think it's just giving young players the confidence to push on that he's unable to do at times.
  18. Just tuned in for the last 10 mins. Sounds like Hearts are still the better team.
  19. I would disagree, towards the end of last season when he was playing on the wing was when I thought he looked best for us. He can beat a man which is the sort of player we need on the wings and he has more pace than Stewart did. When you see the ability he has and the things he can do on a good day you would think he should be at a better team than us, unfortunately those days seem to be few and far between.
  20. Its not much consolation but it was reported to be a 2 year deal for Main. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48533992
  21. Reading those rules they basically say Cosgrove isn't allowed to challenge for the ball at all. He cant slow down as he has to get there before Ajer kicks the ball away. His leg which catches Ajer is tucked in so there is minimal contact, what more can he do. Anyway the Appeal was always going to fail because we are not one of the old firm.
  22. We will probably lose the appeal because it will be judged that he was off the ground. Which he just about is. But in my opinion he's made the tackle that had to be made. If it was Scott Brown putting in that challenge most of the Scottish media would be saying it was a great tackle and saying how great he is great at getting stuck into the opposition.
  23. Don't mean to rain on your parade Seebass but Considine only made his debut in 2004 and didn't become a regular until 2005-2006. As Larsson left Celtic in 2004 he probably never even played against him. Still, arguably Klose played at a higher level and could easily be considered a better player.
  24. I don't think its impossible for a player to do it again, it just depends on the circumstances. Considine has managed it partly because of his loyalty, but also because he never stood out and therefore probably hasn't had that many options to go elsewhere. I think the less hes played at left back the better as he doesn't have the pace to play there and that's one of the main reasons hes doing much better these days. He has always been a relatively consistent performer but even now hes not one of our better players.
