  1. Three center backs doesn’t mean defensive. Dorrington and kneuster will carry the ball forward, and it gives devlin and gyamfi/topi full opportunity to get forward and give us much needed width. They are not inverted, and going back to 2 back with wingers I’d assume means inverted which hasn’t really worked for us. I really hope we stick with 3 back, devlin and gyamfi wide, lazetic up top with karlsson. COYR!
  2. So Killie’s Watson getting attention at the moment. Already out of our price range? What type of central midfielder is he??
  3. Got to get a win tomorrow. A must. If we win we’re 6 pts off third most likely. Wouldn’t be bad considering the season to date.
  4. Surprised nobody has posted here yet. Based on our order of fixtures, here’s how our future opponents did in round 1 - AEK Athens lost away 3-1 to Celje AEK Larnaca won 4-0 at home v AZ (10 men after 2 mins) Noah beat Rejica (10 men after 29 mins) 1-0 at home Strasbourg won 2-1 away at Slavan Bratislava Sparta Prague beat shamrock rovers 4-1 at home
  5. Despite the loss on Thursday, hearing some positivity from fans players and JT. Certainly hope we can build on it but certainly line up and formation questions for tomorrow. think we stick with the 3-5-2, hated it when we had it last but seems to work for this group. Our midfield group should all be fresh enough, none played more than 64 minutes on Thursday. I’d like to probably see the same starting 3 of Armstrong Clarkson and palaversa, but if it’s a flat 3 in midfield we still don’t have the holding anchor in the middle (like a sivert 5 or so years ago perhaps). I also think this 3 suits polvara better, hope he can be better off the bench. Shinnie also has a bigger impact I think with a 30 min second half cameo where he doesn’t need to pace himself. hopefully devlin is fresh enough, he hasn’t played a lot so while he ran himself into the ground Thursday, hope he’s fresh enough to go again. That’s a biggie for me, but also for the team. Wouldn’t be surprised to see gyamfi in for keskinen who played the full game Thursday. Up top really hope we run with lazetic and karlsson again. I have high hopes for both to kick on, both are pacey mobile and technical, think they could do well as a two and get some goals. think sivert polvara shinnie can provide a spark off the bench, plus as a two up top milanovic could also play there as well as obviously wide. i am one who think we have good players. I do think Armstrong karlsson Clarkson lazetic will finally get it and click, maybe this is the game. We’re due goals. as for Dundee, they aren’t good they aren’t bad. If we bring the Thursday second half attitude, and we are going to score goals at some point, we get a good league performance and win. 3-1 us. Lazetic karlsson clarkson
  6. Fail every time with pasting here! Got me thinking, is he good looking enough for us? Could be a hurdle.
  7. Anyone got some insider info???
  8. Fair to say we started to go for looks when tanning bed Calderwood became manger??
  9. Not me, I always thought he had a bit of a dodgy face, almost like he’d had a minor stroke. I couldn’t get past that.
  10. Not knocking topi but would like to see frame sooner rather than later.
  11. Was that our first penalty since mcgrath’s belter vs rangers?? much of the Motherwell game was better and we were unlucky not to take something from that, and tonight we scored and had some strong performances from what I read. My fear is we change up too much for Sunday. Really would like to see lazetic and devlin get a run of games and, to be fair on them, they haven’t played that much so shouldn’t need rested if fit. how was Armstrong tonight? Also agree with the comment about Milne, think he’s really kicking on and two things, he’ll play more since I see a back 3 quite often, and Tobers is injured. Sadly, one of our few Scots who may move sooner than later.
  12. Let’s hope that’s not our goal quota for the month. Can we get a third??
  13. What just happened. Ball went in the netty thing at the end of our park and people are dancing?
  14. Don’t really know what to expect. Kind of a free hit too. Maybe playing a European team and not a league game will be a good thing?? Def think we’ll go three at the back, is tobers fit after going off against Motherwell? hope we stick with devlin and gyamfi as wing backs. Would like to see shinnie and Armstrong on either side of sivert, both can push on while sivert sits. Alternatively Armstrong sits and he’s more mobile, but is he disciplined enough to sit. If he’s the middle of the 3 mids, palaversa on the right of him. Think we need three workers in there, you could argue that’s not sivert but I think he adds to the team despite his clear flaws. up top really want to see lazetic given a start to see what he can do, he’s much more mobile than nisbet, and I know we haven’t see much, but I think he’s more technical. give karlsson a free role/permission to roam. 2-2, karlsson and lazetic.
  15. I guess define progress. On the field it’s piss at present and that’s what the majority of fans only consider. We did win the Scottish cup. Luck maybe or very good coaching against a much better team with a ton more money. We undertook a huge squad overhaul. Got rid of dead wood and made some money on players that were not starting 11 players. We signed some exciting players (on paper), some for now and some young ones for the future. Not all will be successful signings but we had a shit squad that needed a long term (and ongoing) overhaul. i get where you are coming from but the quick success approach has seen 4 managers in 4 years, I think a number of us appreciate a different approach. As I’ve said, it’s been a month since the window closed. I’ll pass more judgement by the end of the year but for now I’ll watch this shit and hope for a turnaround asap.
  16. I’m going against the grain but I have reasons to believe Thelin should be given time. Glass and Robson had little or no experience, Goodwin a little, jimmy has experience. I think glass could have been good with the right structure/support, I see Goodwin as another Mcinnes at the most, and Robson was limited. I’d take Robson back as part of the management team, but not as a head coach. He has value. There is no manager out there that I desperately want, and certainly nobody guarantees success. I suppose too for every new manager bounce there’s a potential Neil warnock. It’s shit right now, we all agree, but I’d argue every team, maybe bar Celtic, will have a bad run. Ours is now and I’m optimistic we’ll come out of it. I also feel we are in a league that bar Celtic the rest will beat each other and a good run and we’ll but up to third or fourth pretty quickly. it’s modern football to sack a manager when you have a bad run, we’ve done that three times, we spent considerable time to get Thelin, let’s take a long term approach. You can see from experience, unlike the last managers, that he has a track record and is capable. as a team leader/manager at work, it would be very hard to produce quickly if my team significantly changed every six months when all my projects were twelve month projects. It takes time to get up to speed with a new group. We needed a complete squad overhaul. Was sad we lost McKenzie and McGrath but we did try to keep both, everyone else wasnt a guaranteed starter, squad players, and we got good money for limited players. thelin has shown he can attract players to the club. That’s big. While he’s not the only one involved in transfers, he’s a significant piece. I like this. He’s also shown he’ll adapt formation and is not afraid to make changes in both personnel and formation when needed. I dont think we see a lot in the January window but I do think we target the badly needed Rama type. weve made mistakes, particularly with number of preseason games this season. Not sure why. I also don’t get why we signed Jensen, it has hurt in of our best performing players in devlin. It’s not perfect but another sacking and hope we get it right is a situation I don’t want to do through yet again. Let this run its course. It certainly requires trust/faith.
  17. A good watch this weekend, took me away from the depression that is Aberdeen. Got pretty exciting and nervy at the end!
  18. What gives you the impression palaversa and aouchiche think they are playing a league beneath? I don’t see that. I think they are two players who excelled early in their careers and have not kicked on to a higher level. We’re giving them that opportunity of playing time in a competitive league that gives them good exposure. Whether aouchiche is good enough, time will tell, but he’s still a relatively new player learning Scottish football, teammates, and demands of a new manager. And he’s a young player. I think he works hard and tries.
  19. Tend to agree with you, to me a shoulder charge is still while playing the ball, I just felt the defender completely too him out.
  20. A run of matches? He’s had three windows with significant squad change, and over 20 new players. Add nisbet Armstrong and karlsson, key players, plus lazetic and gyamfi who were injured, these guys have hardly been with us a month. I think giving him to Xmas is fair before we can fealty make comment, but I also think he’s here three years minimum and has been given assurances. Pretty sure we’re not sacking another manager without him being given the chance to completely overhaul the squad, and try to develop a full new group over time.
  21. Thought we were very unlucky today, not great but one of our better if not best league performance to date. We created a few chances and the first goal is a freak goal, kills the game. Luck is not on our side. Also thought we had more width today. Would prob like us to stay 3 at the back with devlin and gyamfi or frame at wing back. Maybe Armstrong was rested, but switch him in alongside shinnie and palaversa gives us enough strength and mobility, plus shinnie and Armstrong can push up. Wouldn’t mind seeing karlsson alongside lazetic, nisbet just doesn’t do it for me, not nearly mobile or active enough. topi drive me nuts with the run and shot into the side netting, square it and we score if I recall. Also no clue why lazetic doesn’t chip the keeper right before their goal, seemed to have the time, space, ball in the right position, and keeper off his line. thought tobers did ok, did he get injured? i think we have seen jimmy change players and formations. Just wish we’d done that in preseason with more games and possibly a bounce game or two early midweek to blood new players. We’re playing catch up on the fly which is very difficult. still really unclear as to our tactics or style of play, no clue what we are trying to do when we have the ball. Also feel we are still really poor in attack. It’s pretty easy to play passes square and back between defenders and midfield, but our play between midfielders and attackers, and our play in the opponents final third isn’t good.
  22. Not a bad half from what I have seen. Not great but we are not confident or on form, but we are creating. Def think we are better with devlin, getting some width from the full backs.
  23. Totally agree, but every game is change, and here we go again. Perhaps we find something that works but consistent personnel and players breeds consistent play and we don’t do any of this. Saying that, I think shinnie and palaversa may be our best two in there. changing prediction, 3-0 us. Nisbet aouchiche and karlsson.
  24. Back 3 or 5, plus multiple personnel changes. Too much change. Hope I’m wrong but I don’t think that helps us. Not sure how we line up, karlsson up top w nisbet? 1-1 nisbet.
  25. I do appreciate that in our dark times rangers to their best to cheer us up.
