We all should be the manager of Aberdeen, we are all always right. We’d be winning the league if I was manager! good post, you created good discussion!

Your middle point about players avoiding the ball is most likely pressure. The fear of making a mistake in a high pressure environment. I think the players do care. Football is all about pressure, and the ability to handle it and perform in front of thousands is screaming fans. There are plenty of very good players who don’t make it because of that exact pressure. The ultimate pressure is a penalty shootout, and i look at Polvara and palaversa, two who ultimately failed here, they stood up while under extreme pressure. That’s impressive. It’s not because of pressure that they failed with us. to me I think you maybe mean accountability. Players playing regardless of the level of performance. That’s down to a manager, it’s his job to get players motivated enough and prepared enough to perform at a high level. And fave consequences if they don’t. Fergie was the master at that. plus they feared him, and he scared them into performing, the fear of fergie’s wrath if they under achieved. Good managers are so hard to find, plus it has to be the perfect squad blend for all pieces to fall into place. A lot of that is luck. Managers like Mcinnes fell into a great situation with us, McLean Hayes Lewis Logan Rooney McGinnis jack mckenna and others, most in their prime. They all fit together and clicked under mcinnes, and then mcinnes couldn’t replicate it when the squad changed. we haven’t had the ideal squad or ‘perfect’ manager to make the most of a situation for getting close to maybe 8-9 years. Jimmy was far too nice, I do think the players have to fear letting the manager down, and jimmy killed himself with endless squad rotations too. We had a poor preseason, added players once the league started, and never really got a system in place to gel. Poor performances led to the 3-5-2 ish or at least 3 at the back, but it was still square peg round hole with a manager incapable of piecing every thing together and sufficiently teaching and motivating. very little stability right now, no manager, and no core players, no true long term Aberdeen players to build a team around. We’re also a team full of followers with very few leaders. We’re an extremely flawed team right now for various reasons, but I don’t think it’s because of pressure or players lacking drive.

Agree, random rumors for deli alli for example are pointless, not needed, I think Geiger is a good loan and more steel to a powder puff midfield, but we have to have another central defender and winger. We need two in, essential to tool us for the rest of the season. Oh, and a manager. Saw ibane bowat mentioned again yesterday, but I really think a good solid experienced pro at the back is needed. Shame tobers just hasn’t gotten the luck, no clue if he’s any good.

Really hope Bowie plays and does well for Scotland’s sake, momentum leading up to the World Cup. We desperately need a legit 9. Would also like to see josh Doug in the march internationals too. He’s listed as a left back/left wing back, we desperately need width on the left for Scotland, perhaps ahead of Robertson as a left mid? Assuming we don’t get Barnes.

Prob get grief for this, but a little like cammy devlin?? good age and experience. Sounds like Stanway didn’t impress the other night, plus we have Kjarten as the young guy growing in this position, this guy and afeez are both a good age with careers to get back on track. Both have performed at a good level. seem to have good backgrounds. As I’ve said before, I find these more appealing a more ambitious than the 25-30 yr old signing from league 1 (the English one!)

Interesting read on Geiger, a first team bundesliga player with over 120 appearances, once valued at 13 milllion euros. Frozen out for criticizing club management. Hoffenheim are 3rd in the top tier, no shame to not be playing that level at present. Cappad at all levels in Germany except full internationalist. Low risk high reward. Could be another palaversa, or could shine, time will tell!

Getting no complaints from me, we’ve seen all season we are a very lightweight team. Polvara not tough enough, palaversa not good enough (ego), aouchiche not consistent enough and too expensive (ego), shinnie and Armstrong not able to last 90 mins game after game. Plus not a long term commitment here, a 5 month trial. Throw in not having a manager, no long term financial commitment too. Based on these players and location too, clearly ones lutz either knows or has used his resources to get recommendations. Time will tell if that good! tougher players alongside flair is what we have been crying out for. One more winger and send milanovic out on loan to get regular playing time. He was player of the year in Australia, there’s surely something these. Another central defender, a left sided probably, is a must if knoester’s injury is what it looks. Especially if he’s still in hospital. everything we’ve learned this season tells us last summer was a shit transfer summer. Not the January anyone expected but why wait until summer for an overhaul. No fucking around. At least if we add a manager now he has a more balanced squad to work with.
-
Really? We have not even see afeez play. And who’s to say this boy and afeez can’t play next to each other. Based on what we’ve seen of late, we are not exactly a squad with capable center mids. Two tougher mids alongside a Clarkson or Cameron for example and two creative wingers is good balance. I suppose add Kjarten but these two new boys are a bit more experienced, that one of these two also alongside Kjarten. Much more appealing than what we saw yesterday, and tougher options for once. Factor in shinnie is of contract, and sivert and Armstrong are 34. Sivert may well leave now or in summer, aouchiche is prob away. Different era and style of football obviously, but like cooper and Simpson in the middle of midfield is not a bad thing. We’ve complained we’re so lightweight in midfield, one stronger center mid does not complete a squad.

What a shit show today. But really it’s close to a shit show two years. From the run jimmy went on to start, the shit run from there, the inconsistent form and the let down of finishing fifth, then the Scottish cup win. This seasons shit start, then a decent run, then shit again, two wins and we think we’re over the hump, now the mess that was today. what next? Surely a managerial announcement has to come very soon. After today the club surely has to say something to steady the ship??
-
Likewise. You seem a bit overly obsessed with trump, he’s here until Jan 2029, hang in there!
-
I’d say that one player was a winger, but I’d assume it’s two if knoester is injured.

I’m not here to pick fights with you, or anyone. Commented before I dont get on this thread much now for this exact reason. You get some real touchy subjects, things get heated, some people clearly care more than others. I live here in the US, have for 30 yrs, and am a US citizen now. I am more than grateful for the life this country has allowed me to live, and the opportunities presented to me. I see things quite differently to comments some of you make, so do speak up. I don’t dislike anybody, you have your opinion. This week I’m a racist, even though on red tv today they made the positive comment about us having more Scottish players, I’ve been a crazy right winger before. I’m not the voice of trump, the republicans, or anyone, just giving you an opinion. Same as you all do, we’re all entitled to that. But some of you here get quite upset for differing viewpoints, hence I tend to avoid this thread now. To each their own, we all love the dons and that’s a beautiful thing…..despite the regular shit like today!

You’re just continuing to back up my point. It’s not always about trump. I responded to the conspiracy theory comment and why only Brits had gone down for Epstein so far. My comment was that very powerful people are involved and that we won’t get the truth or accountability. You want to discuss trump. Again.
-
There’s no point. I don’t care like you do. Like the anti trump syndrome people here, it’s always his fault and there’s no point in arguing/debating, it always comes back to trump is to blame. It’s cold in Florida today, I’m sure someone somewhere is blaming trump for chem trails and weather modification. I’ve said many times, trump isn’t blameless, trump isn’t innocent etc, I try to be subjective. but that’s not good enough for you, you’ve made that clear a few times. None of us ultimately know, but some, maybe you, I don’t know, think they do more than others. this wasn’t even about trump, it was the Epstein files and I made the comment that others are involved and guilty, gates and Clinton who I referenced. Debating trump, just like listening to him, is beyond exhausting.
-
His fault we lost 3-0 today. And he should have subbed shinnie at half time.
-
You are funny. You believe what they say? They are saying that because they absolutely know it won’t come out, and they are involved to be certain of that. I didn’t say trump was innocent, there are others way more guilty, but we’ll never get the truth. But try to look beyond trump occasionally. Bill gates is a very powerful man, (prince) Andrew is not in jail, very rarely do the rich and powerful get taken down.
-
Not sure of trump’s involvement, but I think the bigger issues are bill gates and bill Clinton. That’s a ton of power right there. Trumps net worth is approx 6 billion, bill gates is 115 billion, that’s power and influence there. Clinton’s in the low hundreds of million. Plus you start looking into Clinton, the Clinton foundation etc, that family goes to jail. its one big shit show that people will pay and kill for the juicy to stay hidden.
-
I think it’s simply buying time for a new manager and shedding wages for a bigger summer. Get money off the books, and not commit to contracts. In theory, with our structure, the club signs players for a manager to coach, but good that they want a managers input at least. Afeez being the exception, but I don’t think that’s a lot of money and the upside is clear, plus we got karlsson and yengi, Polvara to a lesser extent, prob aouchiche, off the books. still don’t understand Cameron though, unless permanently signing is possible.
-
Your comment ant the end is almost what I expect, leven until the summer. Poor squad, difficult run of fixtures, minimal confidence, if the new guy doesn’t hit the ground running fuck knows what would happen.
-
I don’t know about you saying shinnie good on a booking. Maybe, or maybe in the past, but too many factors against him today. Center mid to start and not left back, chasing a game with a shit team performance, chasing a game from behind, and a very early booking, plus killie were hounding for a red prior to that and attention was on him. Add age, the legs, stretching, and his temper/inability to stand up versus commit to tackles. Not like it was a goal saving tackle in the box too. It’s was clear and obvious for all to see he should have been subbed at half time at the latest.
-
As you’ve said before, aouchiche puts in a shift. Yank Armstrong and shinnie and have sivert and aouchiche in midfield. Ha, just realized he wasn’t on the bench. I’d even put Jensen in there, he works, not a big fan but we needed change and energy in central midfield. While Cameron was poor, he’ll work too, a bit of motivating from leven at half time needed. rapidly losing faith in Armstrong, more cold than hot most games. shit daybreak ruins the weekend! fucked in central defense, hope knoester isn’t bad but certainly looks like an issue. Morrison didn’t look particularly good but tough game to judge. Expect to see sivert at the back a bunch and another defensive loan come in. aouchiche to schalke, if true i assume another big wage off the books. Wouldn’t mind seeing Marshall recalled if that’s the case.
-
It’s a yellow at least, need to see it again but, intentionally or not, it’s a high tackle, studs up, and contact made. You can throw in persistent fouling, although while not persistent, he may have been warned that he was close. Shinnie can’t avoid tackling, that’s where leven has to have the stones to sub his captain. Agree shinnie was the only midfielder on the park, but that’s where leven earns his paycheck. It’s defeatist to say leave shinnie there cos the rest are shit, solve the problem. Put lobban to right back, devlin to center defense, and sivert at holding mid. That’s one suggestion. Far from ideal but sivert is experienced and can sit in that position, huge hole in there all day, bigger as a result of going down to 10. Not game to throw on Kjarten either when down to 10. That’s piss poor management.
-
Haha. Laundry, ironing, and shopping for me. Maybe wash the car. Freed up 30mins here.
-
As good as last week was, this is awful. Everything bad, and potentially horsed. we need a manager asap, rudderless ship. Subbing bilalovic only at half is criminal. Players let leven down today, but he made a huge mistake at half time.
-
Studs up, dangerous play, wreckless, take your pick. And contact is made. You drinking??
