Can't remember if there was a specific film thread so here goes.

Anyone been/going to the cinema to see anything in particular?

I've been to see Inception and Toy Story 3 recently. Both were fantastic. Saw Toy Story in 3D but I'm not overly sure that it was necessary, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it was a great film. Fitting way to end the trilogy

Sadly this future started quite a while ago. I miss the days of watching things on set days, then chatting about them at work, and looking forward to 'next week'. What an old man thing to say.

  • No one watch films anymore 🤔 Ten months and no posts 😲 Watched "I Swear" last night. A true story of tourettes sufferer John Davidson from Galashiels. Starting with him going to seconda

Been on nightshift and discovered a good website for films so watched ...

Yup, www.movie2k.to is the streaming site I use. Not many mainstream movies that aren't on there. If its available on DVD, then it'll stream at DVD quality!

Saw looper last night. It was ok, but I really wish id saved my money and waited for it to come on tv...seemed to be a bit obvious and drag on longer than necessary.

I saw Taken 2 the other day. I really liked it.

Have any of you seen Untouchable?

It is fantastic, my favourite film of the year so far and I have been to the pics nearly every week

Run to the cinema to catch it

Skyfall tonight.  Seems to be getting very good reviews!

Going on Sunday.  First time I'll have been to an IMAX showing of a film.

I'm going to see it in iMax tonight  8)

Gan to see Skyfall tonight. Never really gotten into Daniel Craig's Bond films so hopefully this one will live up to the reviews!

I thought Skyfall was amazing. Loved the last couple of mins quite a bit as well.

I thought Skyfall was great, definitely one of the better Bond films.

Loved the nod to Goldfinger!

Loved it as well. Was I just not reading up on it before or did they manage to keep a major spoiler secret?

I think they've kept it a secret.

Heading in to see it tonight.

Saw it on Friday. It's very good. I love pretty much all James Bond anyway, but this I would say is the best of the modern ones. A step above even Casino Royal or Goldeneye.

Better than Casino Royal but Goldeneye is just amazing. Natalia - really good bond girl. Onatop(sic?) - really good/funny/mental villan. 006 - again fantasic villan. General oromanov- really good villan as well.

The statue scene is amazing in goldeneye as well. Intro really good. Train scene awesome. Bond going through St. Petersburg on tank is a great scene. Escaping the library very good again. Has old Q. Goldeneye is amazing.

Much preferred Casino Royale to Goldeneye, mainly because it was much more like Sean's Bond films.  In fact, I would say Casino Royale was the best Bond film since Live and Let Die, and Daniel Craig the best Bond since Connery.  Skyfall is certainly up there with Casino Royale for me.

Really enjoyed it.

Very enjoyable thought I!

Ok spoiler alert, don't read if you haven't seen Skyfall.

I think you guys must have seen a different movie from me i really do

I thought it was nothing more then an average bond film and a personally a big disappointment. Had some nice moments, action scenes etc,  but overall the plot was really weak imo. I had been hoping they would follow on from the Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale plot line of trying to bring down the global criminal network that is quantum............. i.e actual espionage work in a spy film. Instead we are given an antagonist with a pretty unconvincing and poorly explained grudge against the head of mi6. Oooooooo my cyanide didn't work (a hard premise to buy into in the first place i might add) so that must be the bosses fault.

There were so many things wrong with that not only as a bond film but just as a film, First red flag was that it was assumed that bond was dead when he was shot off the train by moneypenny, there is no danger a. that his body would not have been recovered by mi6 if he was actually dead and b. that he would just go awol for 3 months after mi6 losing something so vitally important. Also who the hell patched up his two gunshot wounds? These are gaping holes in the plot right from the outset. I will concede that it was not without its positives though, the new Q has potential I think and it was great to see the goldfinger Aston again (though sad to see it getting blown up). Ralph Fiennes was show stealing in many ways and I am DELIGHTED he will be the new M. For me the dynamic between Dench's M and Bond became tiresome a long time ago, James Bond does not need a mother hen clucking over him.

rant over

2.5 stars out of 5 and 1 of them is for the last two minutes

We saw the same film. You didn't like it.

I haven't seen it but I think all bond films are either average or below average. Probably won't be going to see this one. Actually there is no probably about it. I won't be.
