Hernandez starts tonight for Venezuela against Peru. Venezuela need to better Ecuador’s result against Brazil to qualify for knockout rounds. 

Venezuela lost 1-0 to Peru which puts them out as Ecuador managed a 1-1 draw with Brazil. Hernandez played all of game at left wing back. Booked early on (harshly) and was pretty ineffective but not worst player on the field. 
 

Group A concludes tomorrow. Bolivia are already out so games are just about who plays who in knockout phase. 

First of the Copa quarter finals on BBC iPlayer just now. Peru currently 2-1 up on Paraguay after 40 minutes. Peru were 1-0 down after 10 minutes. 
 

Brazil V Chile at 1am tonight, Uruguay v Colombia and Argentina v Ecuador tomorrow make up rest of quarter final line up. 

Paraguay just reduced down to 10 men for second yellow card for Gomez the captain. First yellow for dissent looked right but second yellow looked really harsh. Looked like Gomez was going to punch the ref when he was sent off and had l to be held back by his team mates. He was still in the tunnel waiting for ref at half time and had to be moved on by his manager. Proper Copa game.

What a finish to the Peru v Paraguay game. Paraguay had equalised at start of second half. Peru went 3-2 up with 9 minutes to go but then had Carrillo sent off with 5 minutes left. Paraguay then equalised in injury time to send game to penalties which Peru won 4-3. Highlights below if anyone’s interested.

 

Fell a sleep before the Brazil v Chile game started but it finished 1-0. Red card for Jesus was a belter. Highlights below. 
 

 

Pretty dull first half between Uruguay and Colombia. Cannot recall either keeper making a save. Not even any cynical fouls from Uruguay. Hopefully 2nd half better.

Second half was slightly better but neither side could score so on to penalties.

Colombia win 4-2 on penalties.

First semi final of Copa was last night. Fell asleep at half time but looks like I didn’t miss much. 
 

Second semi final between Argentina and Colombia is tonight. 
 

 

Argentina through 3-2 on penalties after 1-1 draw with Colombia. From highlights looks a better game than first semi final.

Can't watch anything involving Peru ?

United drawing 0-0 with Kelty in the League cup group stage. Into second half.

United won 1-0 in the end. I know it’s still preseason but United looked to have same issues as last season in that they created very little for their strikers. Kelty look like they will stroll league 2.

Missed there was a 3rd/4th place play off in the Copa. Colombia winning 3-2 over Peru. From highlights looked a decent game.

Final is tonight. 

Argentina win Copa America final 1-0. Messi at last winning a trophy with Argentina. He had a good game as did Otamendi. Some proper South American tackling in the game. Enjoyable watch.

 

 

Watching second of Gold Cup games. Canada currently 3-1 up on Martinique mid way through second half. Been some robust challenges from Martinique so far that I suspect would have resulted in a red in Europe. 
 

Olympic football tournament on BBC red button and Eurosport currently. Got Mexico v France on just now. Currently 2-1 Mexico with 16 minutes to go.

Finished 4-1 to Mexico. Currently 1-0 to Brazil after 10 minutes in next game. Brazil looking like they might get revenge for World Cup humping at the moment.

Japan pull off shock and beat Mexico 2-1 in Olympic tournament. Mexico were reduced to 10 men.

Germany were reduced to 10 men for 2nd game in a row but managed to beat Saudis 3-2
