Comedians

Anybody got any favourites?  Ross Noble is probably the one I would like to go and see.

The sketch he did about fighting an invisble animal was hilarious.  The perfect volunteer being the Giant Panda so you can give him/her a second black eye to go with the one they already have!

Take Care!

Love him & seen him a few times. I had ‘I wanna be yours’ as a reading at my wedding. The audiobook is the best I’ve ever heard  It’s funny because as a general rule, I can’t stand poetry

Was at the Tivoli tonight, to see Danny Baker. A superb show once again and some of the stories he tells can only be heard in person. Three hours on stage and he would likely still be going

Agreed.  The US Office on the other hand

Disagree, the US Office is completely dumbed down for the US audience. It's like the Office for retards. I'm sure you're not a retard though.  ;)

The Office wasn't funny IMO but Extras and Gervais's standups such as Politics and Animals were brilliant IMO. Not seen enough of 'An Idiot Abroad'.

Thought Office UK was excellent (Xmas special in particular) but everything else he has done is shite.

Extras series 2 was really good, not quite up there with the office though. Asides from his first two stand up shows he's not quite hit the heights again.

An Idiot Abroad was some of the best TV ive seen...Was bloody hilarious

I'll agree with you on the latter point. 'Fame' was a major letdown.

The Office (UK): Best Sitcom of the last 20 years IMHO

The Office (US): Quite good but dumbed down a bit

Extras: Brilliant, especially the second series

Idiot Abroad: Very good

Gervais stand-up: From what I've seen he should stick to being a writer

It goes without saying but I wouldn't recommend Jason Manford.  I got dragged along last night to help out a friend who had a spare ticket.  As expected he was very mainstream and not particularly funny IMHO.  Fair play to him though, he was on stage for nearly 3 hours!  Puts Frankie Boyle's 1 hour set to shame!

3hrs not a bit too much?

Still better than Phil Kay's 35minute set I paid £15 a ticket for back in 1998 (yes 35minutes of which almost 10mins was spent running around the stage going on about how much room he had)

Mark Thomas tonight at the Citizen's

Always liked him, was it a good gig gs?

Very good, but intense. I'd always recommend going to see him if you can get the chance.

I went to see Phil Kay as part of the Edinburgh Festival about 10 years ago. He was mildly funny, but again his gig was less than an hour long.

He had a couple of funny gags about Burntisland being named after a community bbq one Sunday. A couple of jokes about the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow .... "who would live in Linlithgow?!". He then used a side-speaker to climb up to the balcony and steal an alcopop from someone in the crowd. Think he kind of ran out of jokes though, hence why he probably finished up early.

Worst comedy gig I've ever been to, though, was Charlie Chuck (aka Uncle Peter from Reeves&Mortimer) at the Lemon Tree about 16 years ago. He was atrocious. He arrived on stage in character and was brilliant. But within 20 minutes, he had slipped out of character and was just telling stories of his childhood ... not even jokes, just general stories from his childhood!

Any selling tickets to see Peter Kay in Glasgow on Sunday night? Sister & Brother-in-law were supposed to be going, but have been scammed for tickets.

There's some returns on TicketSoup

OF COURSE THEY'VE BEEN SCAMMED, HE'S SHITE

Yeah, I know.  I've been telling them that since they bought thier tickets.

Can definitely vouch for this, went to see him at the SECC at the weekend and fuck me he was poor.  1st half was embarrassing, audience shouting out the punchlines etc, went off for a 40 minute interval after being on stage for 35 minutes drivelling on about going to the dentist repeating "what's all that about?".  Second half was just a re-hash of his old stuff that we've all seen before, before a 'finale' of him playing air guitar with a shovel to Queen's we are the champions.  As he would say "what the fuck's all that about?"

Woeful stuff and a bloody rip-off at £35 a ticket.

'Micky' - should have known.

Yeah that's him.

Got tickets to see him in London next month.  I think he'll be good!

Very funny guy and a genuine cockney.

So long as the gig has nothing to do with a BBC program or being recorded for a DVD then yes.

Best comedian I've seen recently?

The fucking lawyer supposedly "handling" my immigration application! :hammer:

Did you move somewhere?

Yeah, from the Highlands to Aberdeen!

At Edinburgh Fringe couple of weeks ago I went to see Sarah Millican, Daniel Sloss and Jimeoin.....Definite serotonin boost at them all!

The free shows went to see I rated from fcuking awful, to laughed a couple of times!  ...

Special mentions to lassie in The Globe, show called something like sex and drugs and rock and roll, ..... fcuking awful category!, (stayed 5 mins at most, ... as long just to see if she got any funnier, ... she didn't!)

... and Alan Sharp "Hate it with me" at the Banshee Labyrinth just down fae the Globe, ... he was in laughed a couple of times category! He was so disappointing though, as expected cynical, Mr Grumpy humour. Maybe having Jute and Chimp as mates I'm used to much better cynical humour!!
