The.Moog Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Massive win. Well done all, but fuck me everything is just so laboured with us. Why we find it so hard to just show a bit of composure and keep the ball is beyond me. They manage it fine enough, though to be fair both goals came from them fucking about at the back. But its a win, in the cup, & a quarter final against a lower league team so that’s all that matters at the end of the day… Quote
wee toon red Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago It’s laboured and “careful” because the team is completely lacking in confidence. Whatever happened towards the end of Jimmy’s time, or really since the end of our good spell in the autumn, has sapped all the belief out of the entire squad. Hopefully the new signings and the return of the doc can make a difference, alongside results like tonight. Quote
Don Julio Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Unconvincing. But ultimately who cares? Bring on the next round. Quote
OxfordDon Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago So that's our season extended by another fortnight. Seems a fair swap - Well get to focus on the league while we focus on the cup. 1 Quote
OrlandoDon Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago What a win but not a good performance. Confidence is everything. Motherwell knock it around for fun and we can’t keep the ball. Even a man up they were better, and when they had 9 it was still a struggle. Both of their reds were debatable, the second in particular harsh since it’s almost on the half way line and far from goal. Geiger’s similar to the devlin red against falkirk in the sense that there’s no need for the aggression and he hits the man. Very poor decision making. concerning that afeez didn’t play and Geiger gets red. Against Motherwell at the weekend Geiger was able to knock it around and dictate play/tempo. Without him we were not good in midfield, and not saying he’s good. Palaversa was poor as some have stated. funny that we sold the players that we maybe needed tonight ie Clarkson or polvara. not surprised we went with no width in the second half, our wide guys and wide play is really poor and we need upgrades there in the summer. Topi is a sub. time to gel and maybe get some confidence before the dunfermline game. Quote
RicoS321 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Well that was entertaining. Our captain MOTM, not for the first time, despite having lost his legs three seasons ago. Covered every inch of the park, and a great strike. Thought the defence did well. Frame was shakey first half, but did well second, and the other three were just sensible and solid in windy conditions. Exactly what you want to see. Nisbet played well again, and Cameron worked hard. Keskinen and Milanovic were dogshite, and really good subs by Leven to address that. Not playing Olusanya wide was an excellent decision. He's a poor footballer, but he can run quickly and harass defenders, which is exactly how he earned their player a red. It's all about playing players to their strengths, they don't have to be world beaters. Beaton was pish. Think he was rattled by the VAR calls. Getting two big calls wrong, apparently, must add a bit of pressure on to a ref. There was no doubt in my mind that their defender was going off after he was called over to the screen, even though it looked fifty-fifty. I didn't think either red was a clear and obvious error, with the ref getting the first call correct (although I think the challenge was soft and accidental, but last man and all that). Fancy a trip to East end for the next round, it's been a long time since I've been. 2 Quote
Bukta Bertie Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Was very confident of the win tonight. Motherwell not as good as they think they are, and indeed how some fans of other teams think they are and they paid the ultimate price for their arrogance. Dunfermline Athletic will also fall so it's at least one more trip to Hampden for the Aberdeen supporters before the end of the season. Something to look forward to. Hope springs eternal. Quote
Elgindon Posted 58 minutes ago Report Posted 58 minutes ago Unusual game, unconvincing performance but the wins what matters.Thought we started off brightly, good tempo, good link ups got the goal.Even Milanovic looked in the mood. Became a bit predictable for the rest of the game, and Motherwell never looked out of it,despite their harsh red IMO.Our wing play is frustrating with Topi being so untidy, and Milanovic, after a bright start, more often than not just failing to take on his man,and cutting back.If we can improve(or replace) in that dept.... Good old Shinnie though, loved the badge celebration.5 yr extension please.... Quote

I think he's worth one more year but when he goes next summer he'll be a big miss around the place. I just hope he retires from the game instead of dragging his reputation through the mud by playing for the likes of Cove Rangers. Quote
Jute Posted 50 minutes ago Report Posted 50 minutes ago Glad to have called this one wrong. Carried a bit of luck but take it. Quote

Hate to say it, but Motherwell are a good side. They’ve take points off Celtic rangers and hearts this season, and we have struggled all season with them. the red cards were huge. First one unlucky but a red, and a lovely nisbet goal. No way is the second red, just too far from goal and while level, there are defenders back. Keeps the season alive for now, hopefully we can build on this result. Harder with the squad we have and no manager and the uncertainty around that. Quote

I actually like it when players go and play in the lower leagues because they enjoy the game. His reputation is already sealed. Quote

That’s luck. Don’t think the second is red either, as I’ve already said, too far from goal and two defenders are level and have time to get back. Lucky to get that call. Had they kept 11 I think we’d have struggled. Quote

As club captain and a squad player yes - can probs still do a job next year in the right circumstances. Certainly led by example again tonight. Cannot be a regular starter though. I was told he is on £10k a week on this contract, so that would need serious adjustment too… Quote
