I like Knoester but this could be a bit of a blessing if we could get a good left sided defender in. Someone with experience and will attack the ball in the area. I think Milne will develop those attributes in the coming seasons, but he's not there yet. Ironically, it'll be exactly the partner that Knoester would need too, but it'll be in his place, if we do get someone.

Don’t disagree but that’s a big ask finding that player today!

It was the Shady back on loan part I was questioning.

You'll know better than me as you follow Luton, but I thought he was playing regularly for them 🤔

He’s getting a regular game, but still coming off the bench quite often.

He’s doing fine, not amazing, but pretty decent and offers an attacking threat with his pace and ability to hit the byline that they are not getting from elsewhere.

Sound familiar…?

Whilst we'd agreed £1.5m, I reckon Sunderland might have just been happy to offload given he didn't set the heather alight here.

The nature of the deal was bizarre from day one, and almost certainly something we'd never have got to work. I think he might turn out to be a very good player in the coming years, if played correctly, and I think our managers have failed miserably in getting the best out of him. Probably the closest we've had to Ramadani since he left. With the right instruction, and the right combination of players alongside him, we could have been on to something.

I thought he was coming on to a game in last 6 weeks  and while not looking like a player you would spend £1.5m on he was one of our better players (very low bar admittedly) and one who I would have kept if the deal could have been renegotiated.

Portsmouth had quite a chunky number rejected already, doubt he's in our price range now.

Speaking of Portsmouth, they signed that left-sided defender Ibane Bowat that we were after about 18 months ago from Fulham. Has only played 7 times for them this season after missing a year out with injury. Could be an option if they're actively looking for additional defenders and fits the perma-crock criteria.

I heard that they offered Dundee Tom McIntyre on loan as part of that deal but Dundee are looking for eye watering fee.

Think he's been used like us,as a late sub rather than regular starter

“At this stage in the day, however, The Press and Journal can reveal a deal between League One play-off chasers Luton and Aberdeen for Clarkson looks unlikely due to the sides’ respective valuations of the 24-year-old, who still has 18 months left on his Aberdeen contract.

The P&J understands one other English club have also expressed an interest in signing playmaker Clarkson.”

Aouchiche away then.

Far from the worst signing of the summer, but let’s be honest, there was absolutely zero chance we were forking out £1.5m for him.

Should have kept McGrath…

Without a doubt, of those who left last year, he’s the biggest miss of all.

It's all moot anyway but we wouldn't have had to pay £1.5m for Aouchiche, we could easily have said to Sunderland "nah, not paying that but we'll give you zero pounds instead" and got him that way.

A decent player but we seem to have been clearing out the old loans to get the new ones in so on that basis it's no surprise he's away. On paper, a midfield of Aremu, Geiger and Cameron should be an upgrade on what we had before but I'm not sure a better midfield helps our inability to defend set pieces... maybe we're planning on 100% possession every week so that the other team can't even get a corner.
