Hope so.  Agree with Panda on Devlin and Jensen move. Defensively makes sense to have Devlin up against Boyle as far better defender and some of Jensen’s delivery has been best of our wide players. I would stick with Dorrington to avoid making too many changes at the back. I am not sure Polvara starts as Thelin seems to like Palaversa and Clarkson pairing and Hibs having 11 on the field at the start means not the space for Polvara in midfield. If McGrath wasn’t going to Hibs I would have him in at 10 and Nisbet further forward. As it’s Hibs think we are stuck with Nisbet at 10 and Gueye as number 9. Quote
RicoS321 Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 I disagree with Jensen further forward. He hasn't taken a player on for us once. That's why he's a fullback, to give him that space to play in. Further forward, he'd just be reaching their fullback, turning and going back the way. I wouldn't rule it out against a good team away, when we needed to defend, but not the way I'd set up against Hibs at home. Agree with Polvara and Milne though, although it would be harsh on Dorrington. I suspect we'll see Dorrington today and, depending on results, perhaps Milne in the next couple. 1 Quote
wee toon red Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 There’s no way Jensen’s a winger, he’s too conservative a player for that. Hibs will be a lot more expansive than Hearts were so having our pacy wingers from the start gives them a lot more to think about than having two full backs on our right would. I don’t think Jimmy will drop Jensen anyway but it wouldn’t bother me hugely if Devlin came back in. Controversially, I’d start McGrath as the Nisbett/Gueye 9/10 combo thing doesn’t work. Quote
Panda Posted April 26 Author Report Posted April 26 Should be said, Jensen has played previously as a wide midfielder. Maybe but so much a winger, but he hasn't always been played as a full-back. Milanovic and Keskinen will be occupying those spots next season anyway. As it goes, appears we're unchanged from the Hampden triumph. Mackenzie back on bench which I don't think he has been for a few weeks. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 I think devlin and Jensen may be a good short term fix, Jensen tends to cut inside and devlin wide. At the same time, we have Morris and okkels so don’t see it happening unless we get injuries. Is milanovic on his way yet or close to a done deal, or is it media speculation/sensationalism?? Quote

Elgindon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Decent game, been the better side,Hibs the better chances though. Topi looking in the mood. Gueye needs to quicken his tempo,or get off. Quote

At the same time, he could easily grab a goal and lovely flick on at one point to topi. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Plenty of the ball but all too slow. Hibs attack and move forward quicker, and certainly look more dangerous. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Morris off after 55 mins. He has influence, just rarely brings it when he starts. Don’t recall him beating his man or getting to the line once. Super sub is still best for him! Quote
OrlandoDon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 With okkels on and topi on a booking I would bring on devlin and move Jensen to right mid! Quote
OrlandoDon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Good team performance but another strong game from dorrington and knoester. lovely goal, nisbet or going?? Â Quote
redordead Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Best performance in a while for me. Looked in control. Created a few decent chances and the boys at the back looked solid. Clarkson in fine form again, credit to topi probably his best decision making game and what a signing knoester has been. Brilliant finish and great to take momentum as the Arabs took a beating and Hibs run ends 1 Quote
OrlandoDon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 And more decent play from polvara, surely plays minutes every game now. Quote

RicoS321 Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Great result, and a dominant performance against a Hibs team that came to sit in and keep it tight. To the extent that they were slowing everything down from early on. We were solid at the back throughout, especially Knoester (MOTM), who is a fantastic signing. Dorrington and Shinnie also solid and Jensen was fine. Nisbet really good and Keskinen worked hard, with Okkels doing well when he came on. Morris worked hard but didn't do much, whereas Gueye didn't do much and also didn't work hard. That position is a real issue, and I think he might be tempted to go with McGrath there, which is a shame as the idea behind Gueye being there is solid. Clarkson very good in midfield again, and once again Palaversa didn't come out in the second half and didn't really do much in the first either. That leaves Polvara, who was miles better than Palaversa when he came on, and has to start the next match. He was strong and direct and used the ball really well. Maybe we're easing him in for him to explode onto the scene at the final. Well done the Dons though, and well done Thelin. We were patient and that sets us up nicely for the remaining four games. Utd will struggle to make up the points I'd think. Quote
RicoS321 Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Also, great to see Nisbet properly celebrate against his former club. None of that faux apologetic shite* that the modern lads do these days. Beautiful finish like. *I expect that cunt McGrath to jog back to halfway, with one hand raised apologetically when he scores against us next season. Quote
Elgindon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Just back, decent game, great result.Thought we were the better side first half, with Hibs the better chances to be fair. Gueye and Morris deserved to be subbed early second half, both werent doing enough. Was looking like a 0 - 0 draw was on the cards til Nisbets wonder strike. Â Â Good performances from Shinnie,Clarkson and Topi, and Knoesters had another fine game, always seems to be in the right place.Saying that,I think we can get more out of what weve got if we pick up the tempo a bit,and use a bit more imagination coming forward. Â Â Still think Hibs might nick it at the end,but result keeps the season rolling a bit longer Quote

DantheDon Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 I assume by the comments here the highlights weren’t wholly reflective of the game, they made it seem it was all Hibs first half. Important thing is the result today. Puts us in with a real shout of getting third, although I still think it will depend on Hibs dropping off a little. They have more favourable fixtures from here out and are still in third. Quote

Utd will struggle to make up the points I'd think. Don't think Morris ever really works hard...from the beginning today he didn't look on it, can't recall he took his FB on with any real conviction and he never (despite saying in the match day programme against sevco he's working on his defending duties) actually tracks back as though he can actually be bothered - against hearts last week and today he let his full back have too much room, all he has to do is get goal side of him because he's quicker and let him play the ball back, but instead he trots back as if to say I'm doing my defensive duties. Really strange how Palaversa looked very good in the first half (apart from his crosses into the box) and was virtually anonymous in the 2nd.  The ref. warned their keeper about slowing the game down two or three times and then the first time we did it when we had a corner after taking the lead, he booked either McGrath or Polvara. Oh, and how well did we manage those last 5 minutes! Edited April 26 by dons8321 Quote
