  1. Most of the shitebags are his signings. He hasn’t signed a single player with an ounce of the grit and determination that the likes of Shinnie, Mackenzie and Devlin have. If those players are not playing their best, they’ll be giving their best. Thelin has gone to great lengths to stress that a player’s character is one of the most important attributes he looks for. Looking at the players he’s signed so far, including those that have played for him before… well let’s just say we need to get some more points quickly because we do not have a squad with the character for a relegation battle. Hopefully we can sign a couple of gallus minks on Monday (RIP JC).
  2. Willie Miller made a good observation, it’s just a complete lack of inspiration. There’s no character, no bite, no accountability. Just technically astute, pragmatic Scandinavian football. Take Jensen for example. I’ll bet he’s never won a 50-50 challenge in his life. Not because he’s a coward, but because he’s done the mental mathematics and concluded the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and therefore statistically it’s better to let the opponents have the ball and try to win it back another way. Except his calculation completely omits the emotional impact of winning a 50-50 both on the team and on the fans. And that seems to be Thelin’s playbook. Every after match interview he talks about emotions and it seems he is the one trying to remove the emotional element of football from our game. Even Shinnie is being neutered. He basically wants to turn us into a footballing IKEA. And the problem with IKEA is that it’s absolute dog shit when put under any kind of pressure or rigorous use. That may work in the Swedish league where everyone is a pragmatic 50-50 avoiding emotionless fanny, but it’s not going to work here.
  3. Ahh, throwing shit against the wall in the hope something sticks. I’ve seen this episode before.
  4. I hope all this money we’re spending on transfer fees is coming out of Cormack’s pocket rather than us betting the house on Thelin.
  5. Olusanya out of contract this summer seems a no brainer signing.
  6. He landed awkwardly on his shoulder in the last game he played and had to come off if I remember correctly.
  7. Good draw, should get rid of both Edinburgh teams too.
  8. Good watch that, although probably would have left out the QOTS clip, tributes don’t need to be balanced.
  9. He can hold the ball up and win headers in the box from crosses which is more than our other strikers can do. We would be better with Clarkson/Polvara + Gueye than we would with Gueye + Nisbet/Ambrose. Those are our options until we get a striker in.
  10. I thought Polvara looked quite good in the advanced “Clarkson” role. I’d go with Gueye up front unless we sign a top tier striker.
  11. If ever there was a game to give Devlin and Nilsen a rest…
  12. I can’t believe any sane person would have chosen to put Nilsen in midfield instead of Palaversa and sacrifice any mobility we had in that area. Predictably he did nothing other than kick people (and get caught under Balogen for their second). Morris taking one look at the defender on a yellow card and deciding he wanted no part in trying to take him on was a shining nugget on a turd of a team performance, ultimately inconsequential but gutless all the same.
  13. We could have conceded three goals in the 5 minutes or so they’ve been pricking about getting subs on.
  14. I don’t think Solberg ever played at LB? He played (terribly) at RB for a bit but was predominantly a CB. If I remember correctly Anderson played RB mostly while Solberg played in the middle and wasn’t until 2002 or so that Anderson moved into the middle. LB would have been Jamie McAllister or Andy Dow depending if Dow was in midfield or not.
  15. He can be developed into the sort of defender who wins most headers, clears his lines without taking risks and focuses on keeping things simple. Problem is, that’s not really the sort of defender that is effective in Thelin’s system. We need defenders who are comfortable on the ball, both in terms of passing and keeping possession in tight areas. The type of defender that will be comfortable playing in midfield. That’s never going to be Rubezic. You can see the difference in MacDonald looking solid playing in a Robson team and looking like a fish out of water playing for Thelin.
  16. I imagine they’ll be quite comfortable swapping wings quite frequently. Hayes and McGinn used to do that too during matches.
  17. This guy: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeppe_Okkels
  18. Bavidge seems to have been utilised in a wider role these last 12 months or so from what I’ve seen, and started wide right for ICT today.
  19. Bavidge has scored on his ICT debut, I think he’ll do quite well there.
  20. I can’t see Thelin relying on youth too much. Today he preferred having Nisbet play deep behind Peter Ambrose with obvious results instead of giving Fletcher Boyd a run out.
  21. I think our problems are a bit too deep rooted to be solved by making a couple of transfers unfortunately.
  22. That’s come directly from us pricking about at a goal kick, putting ourselves under pressure and giving the ball away 30 yards out. Every team in the league has figured this out.
  23. Can see the game being called off, it snowed quite a bit through the night, won’t be fun for the away fans and Dons fans living in the shire to get to the match.
  24. Nilsen there with the cherry on the top of a turd of a performance. Waiting until 90 minutes to bring on Morris and Polvara was ridiculous, especially when you see a walking dead Devlin skip past their left back so easily about 10 minutes earlier.
  25. Morris on for McGrath is well overdue.
