Ach, how much damage can one man realistically do? I don't imagine he'll sign for a team who we shouldn't be aiming to beat so as long as our TEAM plays better than his we'll be alright. Lovell isn't the type of player who's going to turn a middle of the road team into a good one all of a sudden, or even win games on his own.

Absolutely true, unless the player is so lacking in ambition that he's happy to waste a good proportion of his career rotting away in the stands for relatively big money instead of playing regularly on a lower wage. Another thing I don't get is the school of thought which seems to suggest Gow and Riordan are on a similar level. When Riordan was at Hibs he was being hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread and you could see why. When Gow was at Falkirk he was thought of as quite a good player by SPL standards but not exactly setting the heather alight. I'd say we've got far more chance of getting Gow than Riordan but wouldn't be particularly confident of getting either.

That's us sorted then and we pretty much know what needs to happen. Us, Huns and Tims all win this weekend - not impossible at all - and we go fourth, only behind Well on gd. Well have two games left, us, Arabs and Hibs all have one. Us and Well 53pts, Utd and Hibs 52. Huns then beat Well in the other game in hand, leaving 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th in the table as they are. On the last day all 4 have a chance of 3rd but we take it if we beat the Huns and Well don't beat Hibs. Simple

Go back 10 years or so and you'll probably find that plenty did. I don't agree with Jimmy that the fans get on local lads' backs in particular, but I do think we can far too quick to judge players at times, particularly those just breaking into the side like Foster a couple of years back and Maguire this season.

I agree with this man. They either turn up and play on Saturday or the SPL tell them to sling their hook and then they (the SPL) can compensate us for the money we'll lose.
