I heard Robinho was looking for a way out of City.
-
Not sure we'd want him he seems awfully taken with Levein Then again he does show some sense in warning him away from Dundee.
-
I've gone for Mackie and Wright, on the basis that two negatives make a positive.

This story is hardly something we're new to as Aberdeen supporters. Could we not have had both Jason Scotland and Ferrie Bodde for £50k each? Which the board would not sanction. Add to that the sub £100 p/w that we allegedly lost Mickey Hart for! I suppose there has to be limits; which have to be stuck too. Otherwise, god forbid, we'd end up several million in debt . However, how frustrating is it when the board seem to sanction money to be spent at the wrong time on the wrong players, time and time again?
-
True. Also after reading K9's rant on the fee's paid out for players by Calderwood the other day, I did start to wonder what Calderwood's Net transfer spend was? It did cross my mind that this may be negative, but I'm willing to be proved wrong? Anyone anal enough and bothered enough to work it out?
-
Where has this additional £25k come from on top of his £75k transfer fee? It's not the first time I've seen £100k mentioned in respect of this transfer in the last month. I was even sad enough to type Tommy Wright into the search bar and everything I found from the time mentioned £75k as being the transfer fee. Still at £75k it's £100k more than should have ever been spent on him.

You have to admit that he, kind of, has a point. How people like Megson, and Hart in the last couple of season managed to get gigs in the EPL, is beyond me. Peter Taylor, Kevin Blackwell, Allan Pardew, Colin Calderwood... ?

To be honest I'd be inclined to agree with Slim. You only have to take a second; look at the Haudigan and realise the nonsensical approach to planning, two lanes and round-abouts brings to Aberdeen. While I understand your point about Edinburgh you have to understand the village mentality coupled with the type of industry that exists around Aberdeen. A lot of heavy industrial traffic bypasses Edinburgh via Perth through Glasgow and onwards to Englandshire. I'd bet most of Edinburgh's commuter traffic is office based and used to city driving and infrastructure supported alternative transportation methods. I would also bet there are very few Massey Ferguson's chugging along with a Marshall trailer coupled? Aberdeen and the Shire's major downfall, is that it has this ingrained superiority complex. Over the last thirty years or so we have had an enormous opportunity to become one of the worlds most important cities and we've fucked it up with the village mentality. If, and I'm sure he is correct, as Slim says the WPR is to be built in such a way it, will sum up how un-forward thinking we (Scotland) have become as a nation. This is a sad indictment of probably the most gifted nation in the World in terms of intelligence, and worse considering the resources that we have on our door-step.

K9 listing off players who had less than 5 minutes game time for the U12's, as a reason why McGhee's squad is significantly worse than Calderwood's? I think there is a little bit of panic creeping in, given the - what appear to be - inflated transfer fees listed, too (according to my memory).
-
To be fair to Columbia's toilet bowl, he was banned from here when a large proportion of us were posting that we felt that getting rid of CalderbafonclounwoodTM was folly at a time when it was going to cost us a large amount of compensation. Not to mention the further folly in replacing him with someone of similar provenabilities for a further large sum of money. He is right about Milne though.
-
Not one of McGhee's bum boys then? What he needs is some compromising pictures of McGhee Seriously though is he just not good enough, or is there more to it? He seemed to be playing reasonably well at the start of the season and now not playing at all!

Not yet, thought I'd start at the beginning. The wife bought me a few for my Christmas as the wifie at Waterstones told her I'd like them, given the books I normally read.
-
Fatherland and Imperium are his best IMO. Think I read that Lustrum is the second book in his Cicero trilogy?? I thought Ghost was probably his weakest effort so if you enjoyed that you'll love the rest of his books. Just finished the Frankie Boyle autobiography, quite enjoyable post Christmas fayre with a few laugh out loud bits. Comes across as a very honest and intelligent guy, which I don't suppose is all that surprising. Just started Sleepy Head by Mark Billingham.

EE: Possible triple signing swoop including Scott Dobie

Thanks for clearing that up. Definitely the first of "Mark's Dross" -

Reda Johnson? Given that Jimmy tried to sign Dobie on more than one occasion where do we stand with him? Is he one of "Jimmy's dross" or is he merely a "nearly Jimmy's dross" and if he signs will he be the first of "Mark's Dross"? Scored 7 goals this season already (although only 2 in the league) so bit of a strange one unless it's a swap. Tommy Wright?? -
Is one game really a "streak"?
-
I assume what Glasgow Sheep is getting at, is more home games against teams with travelling supports similar to that of Hamilton's i.e. insignificant numbers.
-
Presumably they won't be marching on Wootton Bassett now... Oh wait...
-
Yass! Sna'n heavily down here in the sunny south west, been falling for about an hour. I can still see the ground but am expecting wide spread panic. Just been speaking to the wife who tells me the trolley rage in Sainsburys this morning was mental with people panic buying, worse than Christmas eve she said.

Sure it was Bird that lived above my sister, always seemed a nice quiet lad and there was never any parties or loud music from upstairs apparently. Probably just wasn't loud and arrogant enough to make it as a footballer. -

@ ally s. Who knows, tbf I thought he was from the 00's, I'm just bored so thought I'd look up soccerbase (Mainly because I was sure Gilles left well before he did). I found that Mark Peat actually started a game for us maybe he should have been my goalie pick . *edit -

Agree with minijc I liked Dempsey and Karim. Neither Paatelainen brother played, but neither did Gillies in this decade. Also I thought Pasquinelli looked decent maybe if he hadn't got injured so early in his Aberdeen career my opinion may not have been such. I also don't understand the dislike of Cobain (also ally s) another who was blighted by injury and incidentally did not actually play for us in the "Noughties". Sorry to pick holes, nae offence, just waiting to get home. -

Your probably right, but with so many choices at left back... The only position with a bigger pool of players would have been up front, I was tempted to go for an Ardilles-esque 1 -10 formation.
