I used the old official site around 97/99 and have in my head I used to type in afc chat in msn or whatever search engine was being used at that time, so assumed the url was afc chat or some derivative. I was aware of the trademarking thing so was just curious as to the legal standpoint. Does seem doubly ridiculous for afcchat's url is afc-chat, I wonder if www.sougrapes.net is available... *edit for new post @bobbybiscuit the posturing did amuse me hence why I asked.

I see suggestions are being made that this site shouldn't be linking from afcchat.xx addresses. Interesting one, would the club not hold the afc chat trademark from the original site?? If not that specifically it would surely own afc and by default variations thereof?

Well Sarfend are bust, sot hat presumably rules them out.

afc accounts 2008/09 - Operating target met

I thought everyone knew it was the fans fault for expecting the club to continue to challenge the old firm. Seriously though how much longer can the club go on posting a loss (no matter how its dressed up) season after season? As Rocco says there is only so much the odd UEFA cup run can cover up for. Shows how lucky Cheltenham are with their directors covering losses on an as needed basis to make sure the club stays in the black. OK the amounts are nowhere near Aberdeen levels, but maybe if Aberdeen's had been dealt with on a similar basis... I can't see how the new stadium is going to help either? I suppose it will give improved revenue streams but surely it's position at Loriston will negatively impact on that. Unless Milne gives us a clean slate at that point, we are still going to be saddled with our existing debt plus the net debt created by the new stadium. -
Lee Wilkie can fuck off!

Guy I used to work with told me they made San Miguel in Hong Kong and was told by locals it was made from some faeces filled river next to the brewery?? Anyway on the Caffreys and Caoran Glenfiddich the night.

Ahh! I thought you meant McGhee was doing something about Kerr, McDonald and Miller and wondered what that was. More youngsters getting a shot? Fa? Megginson, Smith, Stewart? or the boy Grimmer?? Slightly OT but noticed at the weekend Palace (or was it QPR) were trying to get clearance from the EFA to play a lad of 14.

Agreed. What? Seriously.

Andy Goram on "Bad Guy" Jim Leighton

Does anyone think of him as "the keeper who walked out on Scotland"? I just think of him as "the fat schizophrenic who played for Hibs and once was wicket keeper for Scotland" Irrelevant. -
Sick dons fans steal scarf from grannies shocker!

That's nae very nice I'm sure those Grunnies have all their marbles. -
You'd think being that virtually every other move of his, has not worked out he'd stick with the one that has at least for a bit longer. It's not as if he's nearing the end of his career. What is he 23/24? Another year or two of continuing improvement could see him earn a proper wedge for a move as he's reaching his peak. Wrong move now and he may earn a bit more than we're offering for a year or two, then be picking up whatever Raith Rovers are willing to pay him for the rest of his career. Still, as long as his agent gets that new Range Rover next summer...

Aye, I watched it too. The exercise was obviously designed for and aimed at Americans. I thought it was useful to show how quickly people would jump on a bandwagon . It also highlighted that although we (the British), in general, are not overtly racist there is certainly something underlying. BUT I would say this is true for most peoples the world over and does not only relate to race. The difficulty is, admitting it. For there to be no discrimination everyone would have to be treated exactly the same and that doesn't happen even from the most open minded of us. Agree with BB the wifie hosting it was a pain in the hoop, but I suppose if she's been going round Yankland with her exercise for the last 40 years she would have developed this overtly aggressive behaviour and arrogance to counter the bigotry she must come across on a daily basis. As for the other Blonde wifie that BB mentioned  "One of the dark skinned girls I teach fell and skinned her face, was I shocked to see it was pink underneath? Well yes I was, but only because I'd never thought about it." What colour did you think a Black persons blood and therefore flesh was? Green?? Seemed like it was the wifie in her 60's was the only one that actually "got it"

If it's a business decision to invest in Dundee, he can't be a very astute businessman. The only thing investing in Dundee will do that investing in Aberdeen will not (at the levels he is) is increase the amount of column inches devoted to him, rather than "his" club. As BB says he is an Egomaniac and if he's not he certainly comes across as someone desperate for attention. I think every football fan would dream of investing in "their" club I certainly couldn't imagine investing in, even Cheltenham Town a second team for me. Even though it would be far more accessible financially.

Duff, Mackie, Young and Wright to leave?
baggy89 replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
And as I remember we were essentially a selling club in the late 70's early 80's there were only a few who stayed and I bet that was more than slightly reliant on the relative fee's received for the rest. Also there are a fair few worried by Hibs now, that they seem to be re-investing some of the money received in transfers. If only some people had the foresight to see the advantages of being in a decent financial position for if/when one of the OF's fortunes turned and suggested not wasting the guts of a million quid on replacing the management team. -

Liverpool's title chances? -
BBC for Albanians, you know how the BBC loves immigrants.

Is it just me or was this not mentioned a few weeks ago?

What did you make of this? I had high hopes but thought it was a little light. I suppose it gave a perspective of India not usually acknowledged but hardly surprising. Liking Balram wasn't really difficult, despite what he did, if that was what the intention was? It certainly didn't cause a crisis of conscience for me, anyway. Also read Flood by Stephen Baxter which I though could have made better use of the subject matter, but again not a bad book. Next up I have Netherland by Joseph O'Neill which has some fairly divided reviews so??? Then I've promised myself I'll go back and try to finish 2666

Ehm! Having read this thread there was an off the cuff remark re: Jimmy from CtS before YOU started with the "jimmy chat" so maybe it's you and your puppet masters who can't let go. Also I'd hazard a guess that Jimmy's net transfer spend was "+".

I was fairly critical of Wright at the time of his protracted transfer. BUT we have needed (although not as a priority over a 20 goal a season striker) a striker who will batter and bruise opposition defences, especially when you consider the decreasing technical ability within the SPL. Here's hoping Wright can get a decent run and stay clear of injuries as I think he could be useful member of our squad. McGhee is trying to improve the overall technical ability of our squad and these type of players allow the more technically gifted an opportunity to perform.
