P&J: Dons’ worst since 2004 but McGhee has no fears for job

Not sure where you get I started posting a response from? LOVE the fact that you have ignored the original bait, but bit to mine with the obvious  at the end. -
P&J: Dons’ worst since 2004 but McGhee has no fears for job
baggy89 replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
If true I wouldn't be disappointed. Got Ipswich promoted to the EPL with probably a quarter of the budget afforded to McGhee at Wolves. Was he not sitting top with Hearts when he got the dunt left by mutual consent after Mad Vlad took control, Hearts form then dipped and ended up second? If its not true, at least it's excellent Rocket bait. -

It's OK it's all the players (and Jimmy's) fault, and it won't be long before there is a new protest group set up; ATPMGJISAFOB - All The Players Must Go Jimmy Is Still A Fat Orange Buffoon. Still we're probably our closest to winning something since Ebbe, do you get an open top bus tour for winning the Division 1 title? -
The English second division is The Championship, I seriously doubt he's talking about L2 bar Notts County and maybe Bradford.

Pretty much sums up where I'm at.
-
I'm not arguing with that at all. I can quite accept that he has been piss poor, all I'm saying is that his form at one point was good enough to have had EPL scouts watching him. They obviously deemed him not good enough but that's not to say he would be completely incapable of doing a job for Aberdeen or regaining that form. I will make one point though, I don't think he has ever looked like a footballing centre half, and by the sounds of jmo's post he may be being encouraged to play that way?? If that's what McGhee wanted he signed the wrong player and I'm pretty sure that is why Wilson wasn't playing him.
-
Thing with Ifil, although I've not seen him this season and I'm basing my opinion on the few times I saw him in a Swindon shirt and what I heard from Swindon fans and in the local press, I don't think McGhee is getting the best out of him either. He was out of favour under Danny Wilson when he left but he always looked solid when I saw him and I'm certain there were EPL clubs looking at him around the time his brother was at Spurs.

I get your point and will add that Calderwoods net transfer spend was negative. I would also point out that after qualifying for Europe the first time he had Russel Anderson sold before the start of the campaign, and Chris Clarke and Michael Hart sold half way through. The later of which, if rumours are to be believed, because the board wouldn't sanction around £100 a week extra. The second time he qualified they sacked him.
-
OK, build a wall so it can't roll any further.
-
If McGhee is on a one year rolling contract allow it to expire. If it's a two year contract allow him to make the necessary changes and/or contract renewals in the summer without any excessively long term contracts being handed out. For whatever reasons this pairing has not worked out, you can blame the board and the players all you want but the bulk of the responsibility for the current shambles has to rest with McGhee. It's all very well clearing the "dross" and playing the youngsters, but if you alienate the "dross" it pisses of their mates the team play shite and the youngsters get set back a year or two in their development because their confidence is shot.
-
The board never backed a manager who qualified for Europe twice, they're surely not going to back one that has managed barely a week in the top 6 and will lead us to our worst points tally since 03/04 under Steve Paterson. At least Pele could argue that he was too drunk to know what he was doing.

Didn't we have something like a ten year high in attendances last year? According to this http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attn/current/avesco.htm WE are down 11.6% (1325) so far, on last years full season average, and averages are down throughout the SPL.

If 47 is the answer, what is the question?
baggy89 replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Our final points total for the season plus 10? Our transfer budget for next season in pence? The average amount of times Lee Miller fell over in a game? Number of Mark Kerr's teeth found on Belmont street the morning of the 21st May 2009? Willie Miller's Aberdeen salary in millions of pounds per week? -
Presumably held it in Newburgh to gain the support of local business people. Although I would have thought the Cock & Bull would not only be closer but more apt. If they boy has gone to the exhibition purely to kick off, then so he should be flung out on his arse.

McGhee: Maguire will retuen a better player
baggy89 replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
With this and the Kerr article it seems to be more "What is Mark McGhee trying to say?" -
EE: McGhee wants Kerr to stay as Aberdeen FC skipper
baggy89 replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
OK, maybe I should have said 5 or 6 years, when I typed I was thinking Barry Nicholson was the last real improvement to the side and figured it was about 7 years ago that he signed. Maybe I should have been anal and looked it up, in truth I figured folk would get my point. We know Kerr to be decent, for whatever reason, it's not working for him just now but is the answer binning him and hoping for the miracle that is attracting someone better, for less money, no relocation costs, to what is now a bottom 6 SPL club with dwindling crowds? Let's not forget Kerr's original signing was a fairly drawn out process in a season that we played in the UEFA cup last 32. -
EE: McGhee wants Kerr to stay as Aberdeen FC skipper
baggy89 replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Where's this hate coming from? Kerr is a decent player, no more no less, but name me one player we have signed since in the last 7 or 8 years that has been better than the player that has left? Good news as far as I'm concerned, and there has been fuck all of that emanating from AB24 in the last while. -
Its nae the directors but McGhee gets a vote of confidence from Zander on the BBC website today.

McGhee too scared to blame who he thinks the real slackers are?
baggy89 replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I'm hearing Azteca. It's almost as if McGhee is too media (in particular internet) savy. I felt sorry for him at the end of the Hearts game, before a wave of sickness passed over me as I realised he was playing our TV support for fools. -
So finally we discover the primary difference between Calderwood and McGhee. Calderwood looked for players who would "kick their Granny" McGhee looks for player who will "shag a Granny" Seriously though what's on this list. Receding Hairline: Yes/No Large amount of Freckles: Yes/No Ugly: Yes/No Annoying wife: Yes/No Shit taste in baby names: Yes/No Scouse accent: Yes/No

Ha Ha! Just seen Jamie McQuilkin sent off for Hereford at Cheltenham!

Derek Young: Latest Dons defeat has pushed us over the edge
baggy89 replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Am I alone in thinking, why whine on to the press about this? Shut up, get on with it, and start getting the results. It's this weeks "Mark McGhee thanks fan's for their messages of support" article. -
Was thinking the same thing. Greetin' is hardly the actions of a man determined to fight to the end.

Spiers again - Wake up call for McGhee?
baggy89 replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I thought it was shite and confused shite at that. Going away to think about the positives, continuing to do what he's doing and came to do and not getting carried away at the positives that came from not losing, GREAT STUFF! Not to mention the weather, what with Aberdeen being those extra 70 miles closer to the Arctic circle than Fife. Don't forget the injuries that mean players can't train on state of the art facilities. We also have the "transitional season". Was that originally a McGhee quote or is this something he's picked up from the overwhelming volume of emails he's received? Either way, in my opinion, this article is on a par with a "Deek Dung - I can be Aberdeen's 20 goal a season striker" or a "Ricky Foster - We'll show fans how much cup defeat has hurt us" article. As Manc and Jaeger have said the proof will be on the park, over the next couple of weeks. -
I see Chris Maguire scored again today.
