Well I didn't really say or even imply that he's a top man just because he loves animals. I said that was something that made me believe that I'd like him personally. And you're way over-thinking the reasoning. I think the reason is irrelevant. Fact is that not enough people acknowledge or respect other human and non-human being's right to an existence. Andy does. And Andy's tweets about his own pets as well as the charity work he's done for WWF lead me to this conclusion. Andy also does work and fundraising for Unicef. He donated £50 out of his own pocket for every ace he hit this season. Your point about charities being run by uncharitable people is a fair one but a separate discussion.

No we're not disagreeing. And I didn't intend to imply that so apologies if I did. And I should have been clearer about the pro-indy thing. I meant he didn't care about his stance on independence not winning him more fans. Not that he didn't care about independence. His honesty is something that I've always admired. He's pulled no punches when the truth was required. Despite knowing it'll make him enemies. His comments over the last decade about the LTA for example. But there are other things that I've seen whilst following his career that leave me in little doubt that I'd like him personally. His charity work and his love of animals for example. The fact that he's not a hun or a tim. He's a top tennis player and a top man. Thoroughly deserves his award.

He has more personality in his 2nd serve than Greg Rusedski and Tim Henman put together. I was a fan of and watched both those players in their day too. I didn't dislike them because they seemed boring as fuck. But Andy is anything but. But although he's getting really good at dealing with mics shoved in his face it's still clear he doesn't enjoy that aspect of his fame. So unless you're a Murray fan you're not going to see his personality other than the occasional TV interview. I'm actually glad he doesn't pretend to enjoy it either. There's enough fake shite about. And the stuff about him being pro-indy was never going to win him more fans (although I admit it meant a lot to me) but he doesn't care about that either. And I respect him more for it. And even though he's pro-indy he's played out his skin when representing the UK in the DC Cup and the Olympics. Even sang God Save The Queen ffs (which near killed me to see) so I am still guilty of getting wound up with the pricks that are itching for him to fail. Having said all that the sports personality of the year award isn't awarded based on the sports person's personality. But many are too thick understand that a word can have 2 meanings. I da ken like. I ended up getting drawn into an argument about this last night (which isn't like me!) There are still some colossal fuds out there that are absolutely gutted that Andy isn't English. Not to mention the Scottish fuds that don't like him for whatever reason. You don't have to like the guy to acknowledge what you correctly pointed out - that he is the greatest sportsman in the history of Scotland and (probably Britain too) by a million miles.

I saw Phatom Menace in 1999 (I think?) when it came out. (I remember absolutely zilch about it) Then about 6 months ago I finally saw the rest of the Star Wars films for the first time. In one day. I did enjoy them but they were never going to live up to the hype. I'm going to see the new one tonight. I've only heard good things so all I want is an couple of hours of entertainment. I don't need it to be the greatest film I've ever seen. (That would obviously be Rocky IV anyway. )

Funny you should say that, Al. I've listened to little else since it's release. Obviously. Every Coldplay album is very different. But they're also all the same in the sense that I've never liked any of them straight away. They've all taken time to grown on me. No more so than the first 2 or 3 albums as back then I was like all you unfortunate non-believers. I hated them! When I had my first listen of this album I thought "One, maybe two good songs at a push." But now I'd say there's only one song ("Fun") that isn't excellent. It's generally a bit more upbeat (although I think it's a misconception that they're depressing) so all in all I'm really liking it and needless to say I've secured my tickets for the gig at Hampden next summer.

This is the way Sat Nav took me and it was fine. Took 3 hours but never hit any queues or anything. On the way back we went over the Clackmananshire Bridge. There was a lot of traffic in this area but we were queued for only a few minutes. Most of the traffic was queued in the opposite direction.

There's a lot of moaning, greeting and complaining being done by Man Utd fans. Booing at games etc yet as others in this thread have correctly pointed out the standard is low this year and Man Utd will still be amongst the favourites to win the league. Liverpool fans would kill to win the league playing shite football.

A dunno about the Reynolds one. A clash of heads but no malice from either side. But the same can't be said for the Shinnie incident. Dirty as fuck and looked 100% deliberate to me. I was fucking raging after seeing that and I'm not generally one of these mongs that goes to games to be angry. Still pissed off that the dirty Jambo cunt didn't get at least a booking for that.

Apparently the Forth Road Bridge being closed has caused traffic chaos doon in that neck of the woods. And earlier today it was announced that the bridge would remain shut until into next year. A massive pain in the arse but better than then the bridge collapsing and dunking some poor cunts into the Forth. The Kincardine Bridge being the only alternative (Clackmananshire Bridge also maybe?) it's likely to be rammed. How much more time should we be allowing for driving up and doon? I did think about taking the train briefly. Basically until I saw the bat shit crazy prices.

Didn't watch it but it was on in the pub and I did notice that the grun appeared to be empty. Although Thursday night is an odd time for a domestic game these days!
