Whilst it's obviously disappointing to lose the first competent keeper we've had in a generation I can't help but see it from a grown up point of view.
We loaned Rodgers to Falkirk and by all accounts he's been doing ok. Not setting the heather alight but doing ok.
Liverpool loaned Ward to us and he quickly become a fan favourite and been one of (if not the) stand out players for us this season.
If we had an injury crisis in the goalkeeping dept or if our keepers badly lost form (as has happened at Liverpool) would you not expect to be able to fall back on one of your own players who's on good form even if the circumstances and timing aren't great? Of course you would. You can call Liverpool cunts for a lot of things (probably) but, to be fair, recalling their own player in their current circumstances isn't one of them.
Now we need to address the goalkeeping position long term. Although I appreciate that's harder to do in January. I'd be happy to take Rodgers back and give him a chance in the 1st team (now that the season is over ) and that gives him until the summer to prove to us that he's good enough. If he's not we need a long term (ie not a loan player) replacement in the summer. Who that would be? No idea. Haven't seen enough of any other keepers already mentioned to form a proper opinion.
