  1. Good to see yesterday was coming onto injury time, we had a free kick around the half way line, Langfield took it with every player camped into Hearts's half/box. Good to see that we're not settling for a point. Also every player looked devestated that we only got a point from the game. Good to see as too many times, have we been clinging on and we have been happy to get away with a draw. Long may this attitude continue!
  2. I would happily have another striker at the club although I think McGinn was originally going to be playing off Vernon before getting injured. At the minute, I would have thought that to get another striker in, someone would have to leave which I dont think is going to happen with Vernon, Fallon and Maggennis (who signed a new deal in the summer). Don't forget Mitch Megginson can also play up front and wide and Paton was on the bench. We were playing 4-3-3 for majority of the game yesterday with Fraser, Vernon and Hayes up top. I would be more worried if we weren't creating anything and looked devoid of any ideas which has been the case too often in the past. At the minute, I'm happy and I think it will come but we do need to start being ruthless in front of goal. Vernon has been very unlucky with his start to the season IMO.
  3. I unexpectedly went today and was really impressed with what I saw. For the first time in a very long time, we looked confident on the ball, happy to pass it about and actually like we can create something with genuine threats on the wings (Hayes and Fraser). I've not seen an Aberdeen team dominate a Hearts team like that for so long. We're just missing that bit of luck in front of goal but if we continue to play like that, we'll gain more points than not. Vernon hit the bar again the day and in the second half, the linesman flag seemed to be up more times than down. Fraser is full of tricks and gave Hearts a torrid time as did Hayes. Osbourne was immense today, breaking up everything and protecting the back four really well. Not to sure about Anderson at right back but I couldn't fault anyone today. Really good performance and if Driver had scored instead of hitting the post right at the end, then it would have been the most undeserved goal I've ever seen. Aye it looked a bad one. His hamstring chasing the ball. A big blow IMO.

    Films

Been on nightshift and discovered a good website for films so watched Captain America (average), Ted (quite funny and enjoyable. Would see again) and unbelievably just watched halfway through Gladiator. I've always seen bits and pieces of it but never the whole thing. A film I think is worth mentioning watching is The Blind Side. Excellent film and a great story. Sandra Bullock is excellent in it as are all the cast.
  5. Finally watched the end episode of Lost a few weeks back. I had watched the first and second series religiously on channel 4 before they moved to Sky One and as I didn't have it, I lost track of it so got Lovefilm and watched the whole thing again. I really do think the writers just completely lost track of it after about the third series. Got completely oot of hand and a lot of episodes were pretty dire especially most of series six. Shame as series one and two are excellent viewing IMO.
  6. I think this move could be a good move for all parties concerned. If Pawlett wasn't going to get much game time with Hayes, Fraser and McGinn all before him in the pecking order then heading oot on loan was the best thing for him. We don't play St Johnstone again until the 22nd of December and even when we do, I very much doubt he'll be allowed to play against us. He'll be playing SPL football for hopefully the next 6 months (barring injuries and suspensions), hopefully he'll be able to find the form that he showed a couple of seasons ago and come back to Pittodrie a fitter and more confident player, ready to really push on and claim a first team place again.
  7. Of course not! Don't be silly, this Aberdeen City Council! Want progress and help your residents? Aberdeen City Council will do everything possible to screw you up the rear. Fucking biggest shambles of a council I've ever seen.
  8. We got there in the end. Maybe took a bit longer than we would have liked but at the end of the day, it's the result that matters. In Aberdeen's cup runs/ties with lower league teams, you have to look on the bright side of life. Doo doo doo doo....
  9. Fucking terrible decision and an absolute joke. How Aberdeen Council can reject bloody progress for the city and it's only professional club is beyond me. Short-sigtedness at its best.
  10. 9 times oot of 10, I would be saying the same thing. But on this occasion, I think it would do the world of good to Scottish football if Celtic got through to the group stages, which they probably will do. We need our clubs to be doing well in Europe more now than ever which would add to the coefficient. Also if it avoids the so-called 'financial armageddon' that the wanks at the SFA tried to scare-monger people with, then that suits everybody. Also, Celtic's priorities this season will more than likely be Europe then the SPL and their exertions could mean more competitiveness in the league.
  11. Dundee United and Hibs also interested surely aswell as clubs doon sooth. The Sun is suggesting that United holds the advantage as he spent time on loan there.
  12. Oot. Bored senseless on the nightshift. 4-0 Dons (Vernon 2, Considine, Hughes)
  13. Where's he playing now a days? Never really seen much of him when he was at Sellick.
  14. Aye. Seemingly spent the majority of his career playing for Nairn or in the Highland League (I think he went to Inverness Caley after Aberdeen) which seems a terrible shame given his undoubted ability. Played something like 11 games for Hearts as an 18 year old and then went to Aberdeen around the age of 24, spending a couple of seasons at Pittodrie before walking oot. Half-way through the book and Johnston has just signed for the Dons. Good enough book so far, interesting hearing about the Highland League teams.
  15. Is the correct answer. I thought it was openly known that JC signed him and then told everybody that Leighton had recommended him when it turned out that he was clearly shite. In my own opinion, JL has clearly improved the majority of the keepers he has coached at Pittodrie.
  16. Aye think it's just a loan move. Would be a good move for both parties IMO. Kaka gets a new environment and more possibility of playing time and recapturing the form that made him World Player of the Year and Man United get a world class midfielder they have been crying out for, for the past few seasons.
  17. Can't really tell if the first one was offside but definitely should have been a red card and a penalty against Mackay and I really don't think Vernon's second was offside. Unlucky.
  18. I think, at this stage of the season/summer transfer window, losing someone of Milsoms quality would be a big blow. I don't think we would adequately replace him and when the team is starting to show signs of real promise, AFC should be fighting tooth and nail to keep players at the club.
  19. If he's not going to be used reguarly, then going oot on loan is the best thing for him. Despite his young age, I really think this season could be the making or breaking of Pawlett. He really needs an extended run of games and if he isn't going to get it at AFC, then moving down a division would be the next best thing.
  20. Just watched the highlights. Some strike by that Australian boy!
  21. Well I missed the first half an hour thanks partly due to my lateness from getting from the airport but mostly due to AFC's fuck up with tickets. Absolute joke. I got to Pittodrie at 19:05 and my mate had put it into the collections portakabin and was told if after kick off, it would be up at the Main Stand. Went up to the Main Stand, no ticket. Wandered aboot for a minute, thinking what the fuck is going on. Asked again and eventually the guy started taking me seriously and took details. Then I had to wait from for twenty minutes until they produced some fucking Main Stand Emergency tickets and put me on me todd right in the corner next to the Merkland. This happened to a few people and one fella who had 10 bairns with him. As the one guy said, we've no paid for a ticket to stand aboot ootside whilst the game is on. Absolute joke, couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery the lot of them. Going to find oot what happened to the tickets later on today though. Anyway, aye the atmosphere was a bit bizarre. Only once did a chant of stand free get fired up but apart from that, there was nothing! Don't ken if folk were too busy looking at Man Yoo or what. I didn't have a very good view as I was stuck in the f'ing corner but I was wondering who that number 10 was as he looked very impressive.... then I realised it was Paton. That said, if he played with the same pace and enthusiasm as he did last night, then there's nothing to stop him from cementing a first team place. He faded a bit in the second half but perhaps understandable. Thought everybody played well actually but Paton, Megginson and especially Milsom were the stand-outs. Did anyone see the size of Steve Tosh?! Never the slimmest of players but christ, he's been on the pies! Great to see Rougvie, Irvine and Bell on! Also, great to see Fletcher getting a game. Hopefully he's on the road to recovery. Even last night, you could see how competitive he is, pushing the team forwards, shouting to get the ball back after they scored and shouting abuse at the officials! Quite simply, because folk don't mind shelling oot £15 or whatever it was to see Man United but don't want to/wont shell oot £23 to watch Ross County.
  22. Just finished this - http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0WVKOY7SC2I/TESuXb-EaGI/AAAAAAAAJXk/9bdTkee9JVA/s1600/friends+like+these+wallace.jpg[/img] Enjoyable as ever from Danny Wallace. Just started this - I'd never really heard of the book or Davy Johnston, probably because he didn't play for Aberdeen all that long but his story interested me. Leaving the SPL twice to go back to playing for Nairn part-time. He scored 37 goals in 99 games for AFC, mostly when playing on the wing!
  23. Evening Express reported that only 3,000 tickets were sold for this game?! Surely this is either a mis-print or they have just gotten this plainly wong?!
  24. Is it unrealistic to expect a supposed SPL quality keeper to save a simple, straight forward, power-less shot?
