My first thought was he probably a bit old but it turns out he is only 30 so potentially could get a few decent seasons out of him. Won't lose any sleep if it doesn't happen though.

Normally I would agree but in this case I'm not so sure. I mean, Liverpool are genuinely one of the top 3 clubs in the world right now and probably will be for a while yet. You could argue that just training regularly with that squad, manager and coaching staff could improve him more as a player than slugging it out in the Scottish top flight for another year. Regardless though I don't think there can be any argument that if Liverpool come calling CR would turn down the move to establish himself in the Aberdeen team. Paterson is a fair point but he was signed by benitez whom was binned within a fortnight for lampard. Klopp has a far better record at developing talented youth than any of Patersons managers so far and tends to be a fairly small squad manager. As a result anyone he brings in usually gets some game time given the number of games Liverpool play so I would have a bit more optimism at CR getting a fair crack at the whip at anfield.

Agreed. The problem is a lot of the squad know they are on their way in the summer and will be more wary of injury. Livi is must win for me or we are in real danger of getting dragged into it.

It's never ideal to have such a big turnover but on occasion you can be left with little choice like we are. Could be a really tricky start to next season for us too like County had this season after their huge turnover in the summer. On the flip side though it does make it much easier for the manager to put his own stamp on the team and clear away the remnants of the last two regimes which still linger heavily.

I would rather have avoided the English 2bh purely on the selfish grounds of I don't know if I can go through this again so fucking soon after the last one I was a complete nervous wreck for at 4 days in the build up to that. It's an interesting place Goodwin finds himself. Arrives after the season is all but a bogey, has his first home game with fergie looking over his shoulder and then has to go to Tynecastle and mordor. All of which with a decimated squad and a captain walking out. Despite the losses the fans seem to have taken him in well which is to his credit. On paper we have a talented squad, and I think a few weeks on the training ground will be good for us. Watkins is hopefully back soon too and whilst he is inconsistent when he's on it he has a spark about him. Right now I'll take that. Interesting to see who Goodwin names captain.... My money is on Ferguson.
