Only reason i can think is one i come across in football manager. If its anything like that they might want to try and up the number of homegrown players at the club. Because he is 17 he will be able to qualify as a full homegrown player as he will have spent 3 years there before he is 21. You have to have a certain number of those in your squad when you register it for the League and Champions league. As i said though that's how it is in FM, i honestly couldn't tell you how accurate that is in the real world but it does fit the question. I don't think its out of the question for Fyvie to go on to be good enough to be a squad player for city. They could probably get him for a couple of Mill which is not much money for them and then they could put him out on loan for a year and half. If it works out great, if not well they will probably be able to recoup about half what they spent so its not exactly high risk or loss.

Yeah i think we have to be one of the most active clubs this window, getting business done early too is a positive sign. I also echo your sentiments on SH. I really rated him when he came through at the huns and thought he looked a very useful player. Hopefully he can provide the bit of guile we has been lacking for a very long time. Its also positive that he has signed for the length he has, shows that whilst he has turned us down in the past that he is committed. We still need width though

Genuine question, i'm curious. Reason i ask is because say what you like about Benitez but his record bar inter is pretty good. It all fell down at liverpool but lets not forget he won trophies there including the champions league which the current incumbent of the madrid job could not do at a much better financed chelsea. Its also not hard to point the a fair bit of the blame for the decline at liverpool on messrs gillete and hicks. If you add to this the fact he has worked as youth coach at madrid as well as winning la liga twice and eufa cup at valencia, a return to the bernabau as manager is not that much of a leap. Especially when he was the last manager to win la liga with a team that wasn't in el clasico last night.
