  1. I'm get back to this properly when I get to a PC but I saw this this morning and thought I would pass it on. https://blueprint2024.com/polling/why-trump-reasons-11-8/ " The results paint a clear picture: Democrats were punished for inflation, misalignment on immigration and cultural issues, and Biden. The top three reasons not to vote for Harris were: “Inflation was too high under the Biden-Harris Administration” (+24) “Too many immigrants illegally crossed the border under the Biden-Harris Administration” (+23) “Kamala Harris is focused more on cultural issues like transgender issues rather than helping the middle class” (+17). This suggests that Harris was weighed down heavily by the Biden administration, particularly by inflation and their track record on immigration. Harris was also weighed down by voters’ belief that she focused on liberal cultural issues. In fact, this was the most frequent criticism among swing voters who broke for Trump (+28)." Clearly it wasn't a side issue for those folks.
  2. Jesus fucking wept. This kind of attitude is EXACTLY why the Democrats lost. "well, i don't think this is a big deal so no-one else should and if you do you're a bigot. We know better, just suck it up oiks" 1. Whether you like it or not it's not a fucking side issue at all. As I said prior a lot of people have become single issue voters over it over here (look at the collapse of the female vote for the SNP if you need an example) and I would be very surprised if it's not the same in the states. 2. Where was I when people in positions of authority were raping women? Condemning it whenever I became aware of it. Giving birth in a cell? Also condemning it. The difference here is that in both cases the prison staff are failing in their duty of care and there are processes in place to to discipline them for it and for them to lose their jobs. Prisons are not meant to be holiday camps but, equally, people should be safe within them. It's interesting though that you show concern on those fronts but then show nothing but contempt for woman when you trivialise rape by saying "Or any other far more pressing issues in women's prisons that don't involved getting biffed by a tranny.". Why are you ok with with women getting locked up with males that want to rape them that they can't escape from cos, you know, prison? Genuine question. Also what are these issues in womans prisons that are more pressing that inmates being raped? Again, genuine question. 3 "It's fucking mental how such a side issue has been elevated to something important. It's impressive actually. It started with an attempt to help a relatively small number of people with identity issues, was picked up by the crap-rags who made it the biggest issue of our times" This is not what happened at all. What started out as a very noble cause to raise awareness for those suffering the mental health condition, gender dysphoria, was hijacked and has now basically become a male supremacy movement. Further to that the ideological capture of institutions (see the edinburgh rape crisis centre controversy for example) and the indoctrination of children in schools has further stoked the fire. I feel absolutely gutted for the actually gender dysphoric because none of them wanted this. 4. It's not about "genital history" it's about an emperors new clothes level delusion (namely the concept that sex is not real and immutable) sweeping the world and weak minded people going along with it because they are too scared to offend or be branded a bigot. Hope you enjoyed your wee virtue signal though
  3. I also don't think you can underestimate the effect Identity politics has had on this result as well btw. It's made plenty of people, and not just women, single issue voters over here so no reason to think it won't be over there and I think it is a big reason why so many demographics that would normally vote Democrat heavily weigh in for trump. Most folks don't want to see males in women's sports and prisons and are sick of being called bigots for refusing to pretend that someone wasn't born the way they were. It will be interesting to see the effect a trump presidency has on this issue both domestically and internationally.
  4. He can only do 4
  5. Not convinced by that, don't get me wrong though, I do appreciate you are stateside and have a better understanding of American voters and how they are feeling. The reason I'm not convinced is if the Democrats had actually gone through a selection process it would have been someone fresh. Harris was seen as part of the problem already given she was part of the Biden regime and the Republicans, rightly, said "you've been shite for the past 4 years why on earth would it be any better this time round?" A new candidate could potentially have convinced voters they would be moving in a new direction which could have been enough to sway some of the swing states. I think Pie is spot on in that video i posted above when he talked about how Trump will defo make changes. They probably won't be good changes but the electorate had clearly had enough of being patronised by the political class and their supporters and this was "fuck you" vote just like brexit was if you ask me. I do fear for America and what he will do now, he will take the gloves off and push every limit he possibly can.
  6. Pie sums it all up pretty well here.
  7. When did MBT die?
  8. The Democrats have fucked this entire election right from the off if you ask me. Allowing Biden to go for a second term initially despite the fact it was plainly obvious he's losing his mental faculties was a huge mistake. They then parachute in a candidate that is nowhere near as good as they could have had if Biden had just agree to do one term and proper selection process was carried out. This was another "fuck you" to the establishment vote imo and whilst wild horses couldn't make me vote for someone like trump I can understand why his message was appealing to the disaffected. What happens now will be grimly fascinating......
  9. The Democrats have no-one to blame but themselves.
  10. I'm not overly worried about a wobble 2bh. In fact I think it will be quite the opposite and we will go for their throats from the off. It will be very interesting to see what lineup Thelin goes with given the weekends result, I personally think he will make a couple of changes. Morris has earned a start to my eye though I think I would drop Topi whom whilst being very lively in general has been hoora wasteful at times. 3-0 dons Morris, and a Sokler brace.
  11. I did a wee bit of dive into Mcgarrys minutes. Unless I missed any this is his game time so far this season. The last time we saw him was 12 mins vs queens park (notable to add for this one he came on when we were really chasing a goal, this was the game Keskinen scored on his debut to win it last minute) game 7 24 mins vs qos Game 1 17 vs east kilbride game 2 24 vs dumbarton game 4 and scored. He's been mostly warming the bench since but didn't make it a couple of times. Given Mackenzies form I don't think we can read too much into that but it would be really interesting to see a journo ask Thelin just how much Mcgarry was in his thoughts. I will say this though, when Mackenzie got booked against der hun it did look like Mcgarry was going to come on for a minute, I even recall Crocker mentioning it in commentary so that would imply that Thelin has some faith in him. As I said previously though, come the end of December we should have a much better idea of how much of a future he has at the club.
  12. Dadi was pretty handy if memory serves but I think djaffo is a little harsh mate. I can see some progress in Ambrose and not just because he scored. The headless chicken nature of his movement has defo diminished a wee bit to my eye and I do have a feeling he's gonna come good over the next 6 months to a year.
  13. To each their own but I don't think we have seen enough of him to say for sure in general but I can say for sure we defo haven't seen enough of him under Thelin. Mcgarry came with a reasonable pedigree and we have seen JT turn around Gueye and Morris whom most people on this board had written off as not worth having. Mcgarry hasn't had the same opportunity as those two but Mackenzie has been undroppable and Thelin doesn't tend to sub the full backs unless we are over the line. I do think we will see Mcgarry play a bit in December when the schedule is hectic so hopefully come January we will have a better idea on our depth at LB
  14. Or if Devlin just gets injured full stop. Don't get me wrong, I think Milne has done fine when he's played there but it's defo not his natural position.
  15. If anyone knows of any further NL tops available i would defo be interested. Overall i thought we were doing fairly well in terms of holding them at arms length until they scored but the quickfire double after that was the deathstroke, it's hard to blame heads for going down after that. Lets also not underestimate celtics desire to show their dominance and it was a perfect opportunity to do so. They were well rested and that's the biggest pitch in the country whereas we have played 2 high intensity games in 6 days with the same starting line up. For me fatigue caught up with the squad big time yesterday and we were ruthlessly punished. I do also wonder if the emotional hangover from wednesday night played a part. Obviously the scoreline creates excellent hyperboly for anyone looking to criticise but I'm pretty confident this is nothing more than a slightly embarassing blip. That the defence is not where it needs to be is not news, we saw this by how hearts took the piss out of us until they went a man down and we remain exactly what we were pre match yesterday. A work in progress that's still in it's early stages so my advice would be to not get too down about yesterday. We have still had the best ever start to a domestic campaign for 121 years and yet there is still plenty of scope for this team to improve in all areas. I would have snapped your hand off if you offered me a start like this the day that Thelin walked through the door even if you did tell me it would end with a 6-0 scudding from the tims in the league cup..... Especially given it's the LC. It would have been nice to get the final but I do feel we have bigger fish to fry this season and the only way yesterday affects that is if we let it. Rico is spot on re squad size IMO, most of our players are getting game time (mcgarry and macdonald seem to be the only stand out exceptions in my head) which never hurts for squad harmony. The only position I feel we actively need to bring somone in for is a backup rb, anyone else comes in one will need to go out. Also as Rico points out we don't have big fixture congestion to worry about in the second half of the season, it's actually only december/1st week of jan that will really test our depth. After that we are back to 4 games a month really so bar a rb (and I think a loan would be prudent there) I don't think we need any extra bodies in and it would probably be better to keep our powder dry for the summer.
  16. 22 behind us but the huns are probably catchable for them to get third maybe.
  17. I'm not so sure they eased off, imo they really weren't expecting us to come out swinging like we did and it took them a while to get used to it.
  18. Celtic are defo favourites for this one but I wouldn't be that shocked if we snuck it....... Andrew Dallas is on VAR as well and he's blatently a hun . They will be fresher, of course they will, and if we are to do it we need to do it in the 90 i would suspect. My biggest fear is that Devlin and Mackenzie have played the full 90 against utd and der hun and they are going to run out of legs around the 70 minute mark, possibly sooner given how hard they have to work in this system. Head says 3-1 celtic, heart says 2-1 dons.
  19. It is often hard to get value in January and if we only were to sign one in I would want it to be a rb, perhaps even just a loan if necessary. I really dont think we should be touching middle to front, as rico says if one were to come in one would need to go out and given how tight the team is I think we should go with what we have. It's not like we don't have plenty options either, all the wingers are a wee bit different from each as are the strikers. I reckon Nisbet will come into his own in games where teams are sitting in and you need someone just to find a half yard of space in a tight penalty box. Re LB I haven't seen enough of Mcgarry to say yay or nay on him yet, certainly not under Thelin anyway. He's got something of a record already of getting a tune out of previously deemed not good enough players though and 2bf Mckenzie has been pretty much undroppable so far. There hasn't been much opportunity to give Mcgarry minutes in other words. I think we wait and see how Mcgarry looks when he does get some game time which he surely will before we get to January with December as busy as it is.
  20. It's going to be very interesting to see how this window goes. As things stand the only position we are lacking natural cover for is RB and perhaps CB. With Mcgrath, Mckenzie and Duk all OOC there is plenty of potential for a curveball though and we may end up accepting an offer if they have already agreed a pre contract elsewhere. As much as Duk is looking a player reborn I can't see him extending (though I would hope we would try anyway even if it's just for one more season) and it's 40/60 against for me on the other 2 at the moment. Have to say the prospect of losing both the JM's is the one sour mark on this season so far.
  21. Just a flat five but if he sticks to that that's probably at least 2 seasons longer than I would expect to keep a manager of this potential all things considered. Thelin seems a man of his word too, look how he was with not prepared to leave Elfsborg in the lurch after agreeing to come here. That does make me wonder how far he could take us in 5 years.......
  22. Willie Miller said on the radio last night that his understanding was Thelin had promised Cormack 5 years.
  23. I'm convinced he comes back before he retires
  24. I am very glad I took today off, was more than a little ropey when I woke up. What a night though. On rewatching the highlights yet again i just noticed something. Devlin has become quite used to scoring goals. Quite often with fullbacks when they score they often have an air of astonishment about them that they actually scored a goal. There's just none of that in Devlin at all now, the way he celebrated the goal he very much had a "You're damn right I'm scoring that" expression on his face as the ball hit the back of the net. I think it was Rico that mentioned Mackenzie's turn that led to Devlins goal and it really was class. The improvement in JM is almost becoming more remarkable by the game now. Indeed you could actually make the argument he's the best LB in the league... or at the very least he's in the conversation. That he has not yet signed a new contract is worrying though..... I'm actually not sure what would represent the better business between Mcgrath and Mackenzie if they were both sign new deals come to think of it.
