  1. If we did you could see a cb back moved on given we have already signed one. Anderson retires maybe? Pleased we have signed a couple so far but starting to feel slightly concerned that is it so far. It's less than a month until the 1st euro league/cup/whatever its called now qualifier is played. I'd really like to see all business done by the start of pre season
  2. Not convinced of that to be honest tom, when I have seen boyd being interviewed and summarising on games he comes across a lot differently than I imagined. Not seen that much to be fair but he seemed a lot smarter than the average footballer from what I did . Aberdeen and Utd would represent a good career move for him and given its only for a few years tops I would guess that he would be prepared to take the move north. Boyd is great penalty box striker and would defo be a matchwinner for us if he signed but I think he would cost a bit and is similar player to rooney bar rooney does more work outside of the box. Add zola to the striker list (though I really hope we dinghy him this summer) there is not much pace in the 3 striking options. Sure there's strength aplenty but there were several games toward the end of last season that we couldn't get the win...... I think teams know how to play against us now and I can't help but feel a more technically gifted forward (eg a zerouali type with a bit of flair and guile) would be a more effective use of resources. I'm glad we are looking at players of the calibre of boyd don't get me wrong but if we signed a wide player we can move mcginn back into the middle where he is far more effective, gives a different option to the rest of the team going forward and is good for a goal. Really interested to see if shankland is brought into the first team squad this season, what sort of striker is he does anyone know? Could be DM see's him as the different option. One good thing about even looking at Boyd is that it shows the management have contempt for the inevitable small section of the support who will not want us to sign him for his previous with the horribles. In short, I would be pleased if we signed him but it won't stop me having concerns about having too many similar strikers
  3. And he's a shite manager, Steve Clarke getting touted now and he's miles better
  4. Roy Keane the favourite to take over at the tims now, I don't see that working out very well.
  5. Cheltenham fans seem to absolutely love him, including baggy89 randomly http://www.robinsnestforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16561&sid=52708d8f1ddba5f105a749ed710e2002 Sounds like he could be a bit of a find, what's the scoop baggy? Edit, just read your original post there. Mcinnes will know these guys from managing bristol also, its going to be interesting to see their worth. Quite a few scottish clubs have done well with taking from the english lower leagues and it looks like DM is following suit. 200 games in league one from Taylor by the age of 23 is quite impressive, he could be a bit of a find.
  6. Can't help but be a bit surprised McInnes isn't being linked with the Tim job. I know he's an ex hun but its not like he has ever been a prominent hun.
  7. So he does know how to attack.....
  8. Would be too funny if Larsson got it and fucked it up. I can't help but think that if we can make the right acquisitions this summer that we could get a lot closer too the tims next season.
  9. Im very much in the "it would be really funny if hibs got relegated" camp
  10. Anyone else thinking we might be putting an offer to kenny mclean who's out of contract this summer? I think he would be an excellent addition and our central midfield could do with strength in depth.
  11. Is he a bit of a radge? In other news tommy craig takes over in paisley....... seems an odd choice to me
  12. Just think we need some more width al, Hayes is our only winger these days
  13. Ryan Stevenson worth a look?
  14. Once a hun......
  15. We are never winning the league with celtic in it. Their wage bill is about 7/8 times what ours is and have strength in depth we can only dream of. The prospect of us finishing above them is easily the most ridiculous idea in your post, that the Aberdeen support would likely be adverse to signing Boyd due to being a hun doesn't even compare on the ridiculousmeter. FYI if zola and vernon do leave I think he would be worth a look but I don't see the support in general not grumbling about it.
  16. you are still drunk. Trust me on this dude, there are just some players that regardless of talent are just to hunnish to ever be accepted by the aberdeen support and boyd falls into that category. Big time. Besides, if we are going to add to the attack i would be looking for players that are a bit different to what we already have. Boyd is in the same mould as rooney and vernon though that said i expect at least one of zola and vernon to be off this summer if not both.
  17. Are you still drunk?
  18. some of our defending has been utter mince today
  19. another poor attendance for the tims Also Scott brown is a cunt
  20. That second half was fucking murder.
  21. I was just about to post that. You couldn't make it up.
  22. Actually the more that I think about it the more it make sense. He knows the league He has won trophies (not recently but he has had financially tied hands for a while until very recently) He know's how to harvest talented youth and utd have a great youth setup He would be way less likely to lose top players due to high wage demands Van Persie would stay He has a very good european record He would not be fazed by Ferguson being in the stand As I said I highly doubt it will happen but you have to admit it's a very tantalising thought.
