  1. Why do you think that of Alex Higgins? Exceptionally talented man who just let his personal problems get in the way of his career, lots of people have done that. Had he managed to contain his personal demons, he'd have won more than he did. Seemed like a good cunt to me, was also shafted by that cunt Hearn, who was paying for people like Davis, Reardon, Hendry etc.. .to be chauffeured around while making Higgins take Public Transport. There was a very good documentary on him recently, I thought it was enjoyable.
  2. I'd take that type of performance, if it brought 3 points, on a weekly basis! A win is a win, we can always look to build on that and try and get the performances back to being pleasing on the eye. McInnes himself said that he realises that certain players he brought in weren't cutting the mustard last season, I think it was after the Motherwell Semi humping, and that he'd need to bring in players that could cut it, can anyone put their hand on their heart and say that he's got the recruitment right? The rise of McKenna was a huge bonus, make no mistake, Ferguson has bags of potential, but I am not convinced that Ferguson was brought in to be a mainstay in the team, but given the lack of trust he has put in his own signings, for whatever reason, he's played about every game! Gleeson made sense, Forrester to a degree made sense, Cosgrove is another Stockley, only not as good in my opinion, Wilson looks a failed gamble, Hoban, again made sense, but thus far, been a failed gamble, I honestly don't trust him in yet another transfer window to change things to turn us into a team that can play football and win games, as opposed to the situation we are in just now, playing for set pieces in dangerous areas etc... If anything, we are regressing on the pitch, teams know how to set up against us and McInnes doesn't appear to have the wherewithal to adapt and overcome that. I think our league standing currently shows that. I find it extremely difficult to think we will find a free scoring Striker in a January transfer window, that won't cost an arm and a leg, as we won't get one on a free transfer or get one that is playing and scoring, on a loan. Out of interest, does anyone know if there is a list of current available free agents, Strikers in particular, to see what sort of options are out there as it stands?
  3. McInnes did his pre-match conference there, GMS ruled out again. Obviously if he's not fit to start then don't take the chance, we just really need him back as soon as possible.
  4. Judging by the highlights, Shaughnessy's goal was Considine's fault, he got caught flat footed and Shaughnessy was hungrier. Alston's goal, for me it starts with Ball, he was hesitant to get close initially, then puts in a very amateur tackle, but even after that, McKenna backs off, and backs off and doesn't get anywhere near close enough to him, and he eventually curls it in. Perhaps the players were mentally fatigued as well as physically fatigued? Defence is the one area of the pitch we're currently unable to rotate.
  5. Every one of us would have taken a horrendous 1-0 Home win on Saturday as opposed to a 2-0 defeat. The thing with Cosgrove, the route 1 doesn't work, he wins more headers than he loses, not making that up, revisit the games we have started him and you'll see it for yourself, the problem is that nobody gambles or has the attacking intelligence to get close to him to feed off the header. Where I actually think Cosgrove is most effective, is when the ball is played chest height or at his feet, he takes it in pretty well and always brings others into play, he's not that slow for a big guy either, I absolutely get that Strikers are judged on goals, but none of our Strikers get pass marks on that front at the moment, so it's a case of starting with the one that is most effective, and currently, in my opinion, Cosgrove is that Striker. He should remain so until we bring in another Rooney type, even if we go with 2 Strikers, then he still makes the 11, possibly alongside Anderson, as he's the most natural of our Strikers when it comes to finishing.
  6. Hopefully by the 60-65 minute mark, we'll be 2/3-0 up! I think given the games we've had since since last Sunday, and the games coming up, it has to be time to utilise the squad to our ability, this will be our 4th game in 9 days I think? A lot of minutes on the pitch for some of these players, my dropping of Ferguson is not a reflection of me thinking he's not good enough, I have said before I think he's currently the best midfielder we have, albeit I have been underwhelmed with his overall performances, I just feel he absolutely needs a rest. Gleeson ( again, sound like a broken record ) has probably got the best pedigree at our Club just now in terms of where he has been and the level he has consistently played at. I can't believe people wrote him off as early as 2-3 games into the season, he has not done anything to deserve to be written off, then again, some of the people that have wrote him off are the same people that still advocate for Stevie May to start up front, despite him having countless chances to prove himself now. Not saying Gleeson is the answer, but he deserves game time to at least freshen up the 11 and who knows, maybe he'll make it difficult for McInnes to drop him. As for Wright, I actually agree with you that he's been given more time than others, in terms of youth, but it's been mostly out wide, he was outstanding in the 10 role vs St Mirren in the Cup game when we blew them away, we were intense, pacy and he was running at them, causing all sorts of problems, and he actually put through a terrific through ball for May yesterday, and while I am very much against May at the moment, it was a difficult angle for him, so won't be too critical. I think a run of consecutive games in that role will be beneficial for him, as well as us as a whole. If he still doesn't cut the mustard, then either move him on, or give him a loan in where he'd hopefully be guaranteed game time. I think we need to utilise the squad wisely on Tuesday, and get as many of the " key " players back for the trip to St Mirren on Saturday, unless someone plays out of their skin and merits another start.
  7. Reluctant to start this thread, given that we have lost both games when I started the game thread in recent times. In any case, our home form has been fairly strong under McInnes, yesterday & more recently against Killie when we lost Devlin early doors to a sending off aside. I see no reason, not even our shot shy Strikers and lack of creative midfielders, for that to change. Livngston have done themselves proud with their start to the season, they are extremely organised and work very hard off the ball, they have huge, physical defenders and are a threat from set pieces. However, I would expect us to nullify that after yesterday's debacle and be strong enough to stand up to it. My starting 11 may cause controversy, but it's not like it'll be the 11 on the night. Lewis Logan Considine McKenna Lowe Gleeson Shinnie McGinn Wright GMS/McLennan Cosgrove GMS has to come back if he's allowed, medically. I have opted for Wright in the 10 role as I feel he could be okay in there, and to be honest, Ferguson needs a rest, and his big goals aside, I don't think his performances have been that good to be honest, file under Shinnie, shows good moments, but nowhere near enough, I actually thought he should have been replaced 2nd half Wednesday at Rangers, as he completely drifted out of the game, but he was physically beat, which I understand given the shift he put in. But it was more evident yesterday again, when the game passed him by. I have opted for Gleeson as he now deserves another opportunity, a misplaced pass aside, against St Mirren, he's done nothing wrong to merit being left out as much as he has been. We need someone in there with the nous to pick the right pass and not rush anything, it will be a tight game on Tuesday and we need clever heads. Shinnie can do his usual tenacious side of the game, but his composure when picking the right pass is lacking, give Gleeson the chance. McGinn has to come back in, we need his creativity, albeit I would rather see it in the 10 role, but I think Wright has played more than enough out there, give him the chance through the middle, get him running directly at Centre Half's and see how he fairs. And yes, Cosgrove back in up top, their Centre Half's are big bastards, would be foolish to play May, Anderson or Wilson against them, if we opt for 2 Strikers, then Cosgrove/Anderson for me. But have a feeling he'll maintain 2 sitting midfielders. If we play with speed and intent, we will cruise it, I really believe that, if we labour and look for set pieces etc... it'll play into their hands. * Will go for 3-0 Home win ( Cosgrove, Wright, McGinn ) or 1-0 ( Considine ) * Depending on style of play.
  8. Trying to resist my usual over the top dramatic comments after a result like this, and it's being made more difficult given that the players definitely put in 2 monumental shifts last Sunday and then on Wednesday..... What is absolutely clear, still, is our lack of creativity biting us hard. Scott Wright, can't really argue with the points made about him, he's not really cutting the mustard? Perhaps he needs a run of consecutive games though, difficult to write off a kid. Stevie May up front is alarming as it is, but to be up there alone is just pish management, infuriating really. Was always going to be difficult, given the run St Johnstone have been on and there is no doubt they came here confident, but we should have matched that confidence at the very minimum. We simply cannot rely on winning free kicks and hoping to score from them, becoming quite tedious now. Just very disappointing and infuriating.
  9. 2-0 Down now, get to fuck. :hammer:
  10. Been looking for a Stream since K.O, had fuck all joy, BBC Sport Scotland Open All Mics it is then. Seems to be a fairly even game, chance or 2 at both ends.
  11. If anyone manages to find a live stream, can we please share it, of course I will share also if I find one. COYR
  12. The good thing with McLennan, compared to some of the other fringe youngsters, is his physique, he's already got that advantage over some of the other kids ( not that it should be used as a barrier ) but definitely gives him an advantage. He also has decent pace, good skill and an eye for goal, all there for him to take it, which I think he will. Really pleased to see this contract extension. On the flip side, I have a gut feeling that Shinnie is going to seek a new adventure, and that will be down South, and I am surprised that GMS hasn't signed at least another year, we brought him in from the wilderness at Celtic, put him back on the map and got him involved with the Scotland setup, we have been good for him, surely another year would be beneficial to both parties? We have put offers on the table for both of them, and I fully understand these things take time, but I thought it would have been done and dusted by now, McInnes usually gets these negotiations correct, time will tell, but to end, reckon Shinnie will go and GMS will stay. ( Apologies for stating this in this thread, we are celebrating young McLennan )
  13. Thought he was excellent after the split last season, and I don't think he's done too much wrong in his appearances this season, he's only 23, still time for work to be done with him, he's a useful squad player, and I would be happy enough if he stayed as that.
  14. Perhaps we should have the decency to refrain from spilling these types on to the main board, keep it to off topic, even though the vast majority would prefer we never did it all, but you've made laugh out loud once or twice now, so I shall entertain it until I am bored.
  15. After last nights effort and resilience, I am happy to be called a Happy Clapper, of course, lose to St Johnstone and I will immediately start a " McInnes Out " thread
  16. 2 days until this one, another massive game, against a team who have won 5 and drew 2 of their last 7, very good run and some impressive results in there for St Johnstone, they are slightly different this year in terms of their style, they have added wide players and and trying to mix in some decent play with their usual battling self. Seems to be working for them. But our tails should be up, no question. Same team as last night, but swap Cosgrove for Wilson or May. McLennan deserves to keep his spot and it may be too soon for GMS, and Considine/McKenna absolutely deserve another outing together. Can't see there being much in it, but should have enough in us, to leapfrog them and still have a game in hand. 2-1 Home win ( Ferguson, McGinn ) ( Wotherspoon )
  17. What a shitebag, you didn't even turn up, now I have a wife who has yet again, been let down. Anyway, all the comments regarding Lafferty and his fortuity at being on the pitch are absolutely justified. He manhandled MacLean at Morelos' sending off, bearing in mind he was on a yellow at that point already, and then his arm into McKenna's face after that, which caused a cut and drew blood, he should have been off Cosgrove clearly wins the ball and is himself, kicked, by Goldson, never a sending off either, and Andrew Dallas gave St Johnstone a pathetic penalty last night also, 2 in the space of 3 days, should simply be demoted, not a top flight referee by any stretch of the imagination, although that could be said of a lot of them, so Steve Conroy, get yourself to fuck with your pishy comments, every criticism is 100% justified. Won't dampen spirits though, we have put so much into the 180 minutes in Glasgow these past three days, and everyone, including the manager, deserves a breather from some of my disgruntlement, well done all.
  18. Rico, spot on regarding Considine/McKenna, I am not getting carried away in saying this, but they merit more game time together after their performances on Sunday and tonight. They were absolutely rock solid, the experience of Considine and the stature of McKenna did in fact keep Morelos at bay, leading to him getting frustrated, leading him to making pathetic decisions. Also, I would like to mention Logan, been back to his best the last few games as well, more like it from him. If we can sort the top end of the pitch out, we will climb the table no problems, until it's addressed though, we should obviously stay grounded. Mammoth effort from the players tonight, I tip my hat to each and every one of them.
  19. When you take into consideration the exertions of Sunday, then playing a fair amount with a man down ( Cosgroves red ) that is a tremendous result and performance. To a man, they won their battles, limited them to very little and that's 3 games, 2 wins and a draw, class above and all that Well done to the manager, but again, Max Lowe, they tried to go down your side that entire 2nd half, they failed, you are another Ward, Hector, Maddison already, I pray we can keep you til the end of the season. COYFR
  20. Just read on Social Media that Forrester's Sister has passed away. I guess that might be a reason for his absence in the training pictures, or perhaps even be the reason for his underwhelming start here, maybe she was suffering an illness and it has been on his mind? In any case, sad news for the lad. I feel like a bit of a cunt for this thread now.
  21. According to Tony Docherty, Devlin won't be back for this game either, whilst defensively we were very good in the Cup Final, I'd still rather see Devlin/McKenna than Considine/McKenna, Morelos is a threat, best Striker in the League in my opinion, so hopefully with McKenna's stature and Considine's experience, they can manage him well enough. I think we're going to try and score from set pieces as opposed to open play, obviously we'll try and score from open play, but our game plan won't revolve around that, it'll be a defensive mindset and hope to make the most of Set Pieces, a very sad indictment of where we are currently, due to what we have at our disposal, made a lot more difficult without GMS. Still not sure who will play instead of him, will he go for McLennan or Wright, as natural replacements or will he revert back to putting May or Wilson up top?
  22. Willie Watson, got tickets to see him in January in Glasgow, looking forward to it.
  23. Cold In July, caught in on BBC iPlayer, thought it was fucking tremendous, well worth a watch.
  24. I would be happy to see McGinn in the 10 role to be honest. He has the footballing intelligence to play there, and would probably chip in with goals, I just feel his days as a winger are over. I would say we need a new winger as well as a Striker, even 2 Strikers. A GMS type to replace McGinn on the opposite wing would be most welcome, perhaps more consistent than GMS anyway, but on his day, he's our most creative player, so a similar type to him and move McGinn into the 10 role and I feel we'd see the dividends. Ferguson & Shinnie as the CDM's if we're to continue that formation. Striker is the biggest fear, I don't entirely trust him to get it right to be honest, especially not in January, unless we paid for a player that was already in form, because we're not going to get a prolific Striker who is currently playing, on a loan or that. The names that we were linked with before the season started, Moult aside, were hardly inspiring, but I am all for giving players an opportunity to prove themselves, off the top of my head was Christian Doidge, Alex Schalk & John Marquis. They have a combined total of 43 appearances this season, with 14 goals between them. 10 of them from Marquis. Perhaps we will revisit one of those in January? Who knows, but what we all know, and what the manager knows, is that we desperately need a Striker.
  25. Fuck sake Rocket, don't leave me alone with this Adonis.
