  1. Think they are bottom of their league ( League 1? ) by all accounts, I can't see anything other than a good 4 or 5 horsing, McInnes will treat it like it should be. 5-0 Dons win ( Cosgrove x2, Considine x2, Wilson )
  2. Rico, not been to Pittodrie this season, but been to a handful of away games, I usually get to most of the away games ( live in Ayrshire ) but out of work at the moment, will be able to make a better fist of it when that changes. I thought he absolutely changed the complexion of the game vs Hearts, we were losing the midfield battle quite alarmingly then he came on and immediately brought a level of calm and composure, and we started getting up the pitch more and the game turned in our favour more so. Him & Wilson made the difference against Livingston. I just really want him to succeed, as I do every signing we make, and I maintain he comes with pretty decent pedigree, but admittedly that has dried up last season in England for him, could be the reason he's now an Aberdeen player I guess. Time will tell, it always does, and even more so if we add another midfielder this window
  3. I am fairly certain they are being asked to play different types of roles, I didn't think Gleeson performed badly at all against Rangers, but I do think he's perhaps training poorly or there are other factors involved, in why he's being left out. He started all of our pre season games ( I think ) and then the opening league game, Ferguson is obviously more energetic and I think the Scottish Game requires that, but other than his goals, I don't think he's produced an awful lot else, that is not to say I am writing him off, far from it, I said at one stage he was our best performing & playing at the same time, midfielder, but I think Gleeson has shown enough now to merit more game time. Interestingly, if you look at the starting 11 vs Rangers on the opening game, it's something I have alluded too, barring Ball at RB, that is a straight swap for Logan now. Lewis Ball Devlin McKenna Considine Gleeson Shinnie McGinn Ferguson GMS Cosgrove It's a reasonable 11, the positive with Ferguson though, is that he is still very young and has barely played top flight Football until he came to us, he will continue to develop and learn and be a shoe-in for a starting spot for seasons to come hopefully, and having the likes of Gleeson here will only help him, but I believe, and it's only my opinion, that Gleeson can become a key player for us, or at least I hope he does. Unsure as to how many opportunities he will get to prove himself.
  4. I just saw it, can't see it at all if I am being honest. Although.....It would be a terrific signing. I am seeing Nathan Delfounso being mentioned a fair bit on Twitter. Also GMS to Sheff Wed allegedly.
  5. Rico, I have to be honest and say the only time I ever saw Tansey for 90 minutes prior to joining us, was when he played against us, and to be fair to him, he looked capable, but obviously you can't judge a player over the course of 2-3 games, he certainly had technical ability, but that would appear to be all he had. He moves on and it has to go down as another poor McInnes signing. As for Gleeson, I think he's made a marked improvement to our performance whenever he's came on, certainly against Hearts and Livingston. He contributes the ball well, is always looking for the ball and made a good impact in both games I mentioned. We still haven't seen enough of him, I'd like to see him get 3-4 consecutive starts, in where he'd last a full game, then we can get a good look at him, like you, I sincerely hope he changes opinions, much like Cosgrove did, because there is definitely a player there, I don't think we missed Ferguson even remotely in the Livingston game there, and when Gleeson came on, he contributed more than Ferguson normally does. Ferguson is a good young player, I am happy he's an Aberdeen player, but other than his goals, albeit important ones, his overall performances have been unnoticeable if we are all being honest. Not to say I think he should be dropped etc... but perhaps he could play the 10 role and maybe Gleeson could partner Shinnie in the deeper roles, that is something that I think could work.
  6. Guilty pleasure of mine, Savage Garden, thought they were good writers and I really enjoy Darren Hayes' voice. This is a really nice song, sadly a reality for many a man and woman.
  7. Cheerio Tansey, wasn't disappointed when he signed, thought he'd add technical ability to the midfield, but looked uncomfortable here, like he never believed in his own ability. Usually one out means we're about to add one ( The freed up wages? ) and we're now being linked with someone called Jack Whatmough, but allegedly Rankgers and Ceptic are interested in him as well.
  8. Indeed Mini, some good classics from Sam Cooke, not long discovered his fate Speaking of classics! Some more Everly Brothers, could genuinely listen to them all day every day, nobody harmonises like them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i90r6OX3RYo
  9. Darrel Currie, fella that presents Scottish Football on BT Sport, said yesterday that he is aware that Aberdeen are working on a few things, but mainly keeping a hold of our out of contract players & McKenna. Not sure how he'd be " in the know " but kind of makes sense.
  10. Bolton don't want him They are holding up the process, surely, given that it was all pre-agreed, they will face some sort of punishment or fine etc... Also, wonder if it will rekindle our interest in him.
  11. Dr Hook member Ray Sawyer. Despite not being the lead singer, his eye patch - and cowboy hat - meant he was the most easily recognised. ( Taken from BBC Story ) Took lead vocals on this catchy little number......
  12. Wee bit of Sam Cooke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za9KLrG3j3w
  13. Not like I have hidden my opinion on it, but I still honestly believe Gleeson has a part to play, I think he is starting to maybe reign in some doubts that fans had over him, clearly has ability and has been one of our better players when brought on in recent weeks. Okay, he doesn't have the engine, but he certainly has the passing ability and he never hides from the ball, he was directly involved with the 2 goals at Livingston, watch his pass to Wilson for the 2nd, he was under pressure from 2-3 Livingston players, he simply rolled it back and looked up, playing a good pass to Wilson. And obviously it was his shot ( going well wide ) that Wilson nipped in on and scored the first. Forrester is a truly bizarre one, we paid for him, he looks lost and looks like he wants too much time on the ball whenever I have seen him, there have been murmurings that he's looked utterly disinterested in training and some reserve games and then of course there is the very tragic passing of his sister. I can't really see a way back for him, but can we afford to just release him? I think a LB similar to Lowe ( athletic and energetic ) should be a priority, I definitely think we lack a creative attacking midfielder, but I think Niall McGinn could adopt that role, he still has the intelligence and drop of the shoulder, as well as being technically capable, Scott Wright could be his back up. Top priority for me, the most important thing we need to get right this window, is Striker. I think Cosgrove has proved he's very useful when played in a 2, Wilson, if only he could produce that form he showed against Livingston, but sadly I can't trust him to do so, he's had opportunities, and Stevie May? Well, the less said about him the better, and sadly young Anderson's injury keeps him out for a few months. Will we revisit the summer targets? Moult, Doidge & Marquis? Who knows, for me though, it is vital we get it right.
  14. Happy New Year all! & Congratulations to you and the wife LA.
  15. Just saw this on BBC Sport Scotland page there. Kilmarnock have amassed the most points in total in 2018, albeit they have played 2 more league games than Celtic, and 1 more than the rest of us behind. They have taken 74 points in total, we are 4th, having taken 69 points in total. We are 5th in the total amassed at home, behind Celtic, Rangers, Kilmarnock & Hibs, we have taken 39 from a possible 57. We are also 5th in the Away points amassed, behind Kilmarnock, Celtic, Rangers & St Johnstone, we have taken 30 points out of a possible 54. Feels like Killie should have more to show for their efforts, quite an impressive feat when you consider the players there, I would take 3 of them ( Taylor, O'Donnell & Jones ) but that would be it, Clarke doing a great job. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46715038
  16. He's had one misplaced pass that lead to St Mirren scoring, that is literally the only thing he's done wrong. Every other appearance he's made, he's looked neat and tidy, and in actual fact, his range of passing at times is superb, he absolutely deserves more game time in my opinion and I'll be extremely disappointed if we allow him to leave in January.
  17. Hard earned & deserved 3 points. All things considered ( The amount of forward thinking players on the pitch, having 3 at the back etc... ) it wasn't a bad performance. Wilson, made a positive impact, scored one and created one, Gleeson again, extremely comfortable when he came on and look assured and composed, he deserves to start in my opinion, crazy bit of slackness from McKenna in regards to their goal, and subsequently comical from Considine, who hit the ball of one player trying to clear it, then another, but he isn't to blame. 3 points off of top spot ( Albeit Tims have a game in hand ) so all isn't THAT bad, but we need another Striker to partner Cosgrove ( Unless Wilson maintained that type of performance ) because for all that he tries, Stevie May is not the answer, yet again today, presented with at least 1 clear enough opportunity, and he didn't even hit it on target, there were other half chances for him that he made a meal of as well, he tries yes, he runs around a lot, yes, but we need end product, simple as that, he doesn't bring that. ( I wanted him to succeed, still do, but when will it change, he's had a run of games now and scored 2 penalties ) it's not good enough. Going to be boring as fuck until the next game now.
  18. Rocket, in terms of the points swing, it's been a good month. Wasn't that long ago we were a good bit behind the likes of Hearts, Livingston & Killie, I agree wholeheartedly regarding the Cup Final, St Johnstone & that utter embarrassment on Boxing Day, but for some bizarre reason, many reckon we were unlucky and didn't deserve to lose on Boxing Day I think with McInnes' stubbornness to rotate the squad ( where possible ) and the amount of games that the same players have played, we have done well to be in amongst it again, and imagine we actually showed intent against Celtic there on Boxing day, we could be sitting level on points with them right now. I don't think the performances have been excellent, or even good, but they've been enough to get the points on board.
  19. Been a gruelling month, on the whole, it has been a good one. We have done very well to put ourselves right in amongst it. A win for us today, paired with a draw in the Tim/Hun game, followed by defeat for Kilmarnock, would nestle us back in there nicely. Not even remotely clued up as to who is available and who isn't. I am sure McInnes said that GMS would have been back for Celtic, but obviously wasn't, Devlin I imagine is still out, Lowe & McGinn have groin injuries, but I don't know if they are available today. I think this is going to be one of those games that everyone expects to be tight, and understandably so, but I have a feeling that we are going to horse them, genuinely. No idea why, just think the players will put in a monumental shift and it'll be enough to see us collect 3 points. Livingston 0 - 3 Aberdeen ( Cosgrove x 2, Considine )
  20. We've won plenty of games without them though, so does it only count when we lose that we are some bodies short? We beat Rangers at Ibrox without GMS & Devlin, yesterday was absolutely nothing to do with the players missing, perhaps you could argue that Devlin & Lowe would have been a better defensive option, but it was simply due to McInnes being negative, he put all 10 outfield players in our own half in the 2nd half, it was finely poised at 1-1, we should have shown some intent and took the game to them, we didn't, we let them dictate the ball and we got our reward. This pish regarding McInnes is becoming tiresome now, he gets praised, and rightly so, when he gets things right, it is only normal that he takes some stick when he gets it wrong, which he did yesterday. We never looked like scoring from open play yesterday, that is fact, even when Gordon & Boyata fluffed a simple pass, we still couldn't capitalise, instead, we waited until we conceded a goal before we forayed into their half, and look what happened when we did, we caused problems. Like I said earlier, Celtic lost at Hearts, Hibs, Killie and drew at Livingston, they played their own game, they didn't try to be clever or anything like that, we did, and again, we got fuck all to show for it, the only thing that was close yesterday, was the scoreline, and that wasn't really a fair reflection of the game, was it?
  21. Refrained from posting directly after the game, as to be honest, I was fucking seething. Probably still am in all fairness. What I saw yesterday, was not the Aberdeen we have seen in this good run we have been on of late, I saw us allow Celtic to dictate the ball, I saw us trying the man marking nonsense again, Boyata & Benkovic for almost the entirety of the 2nd half were basically playing as CM's because every single Aberdeen player was in their own half, not because they were forcing us into our own half, but because for some utterly bizarre reason, we adopted that system. We conceded criminal goals, no point finger pointing, McInnes put Considine against Forrest, how many times have we seen that tried? And how many times have we conceded a goal from it? I think what was definitely evident though, was that when we actually got up the pitch, which only happened after we conceded we caused problems, won penalties and made them make a few errors, and generally looked like the Aberdeen we have seen of late, but again, for me, McInnes shafted us yesterday, treating Celtic with far more respect than they deserved. Why were our entire outfield players camped in our own half? I can't understand this, Tims have dropped points/lost away to Killie, Hibs, Livingston, Hearts etc... they stuck to their guns, they didn't over think tactics or whatever the fuck that was yesterday. The manager & the players deserve credit for the run they have put together, they deserve credit for the swing in points over Hearts, Livi, Hibs, Killie etc... but he got it wrong yesterday, and I am fucking sick reading comments like " We didn't deserve that " or " Fuck Collum, we'd have won that if it wasn't for him " or the best one yet " players played brilliantly, we were very unlucky not to come away with anything " The players did not play brilliantly, at zero point did we look like scoring from open play & McInnes kowtowing to Celtic ultimately cost us, we should have had a go, stuck to the same system we have done for the last 5-6 games and I honestly believe we'd have seen a different outcome. The goals we conceded were comical, had Devlin & Lowe been fit, then perhaps we'd have been more solid, but I still can't understand the tactics yesterday, a missed opportunity, that's a fact. Appreciate it's a rant, but it's how I saw it, I expected more from McInnes, but then again, deep down, I suppose I didn't. Extremely disappointing. Hope you all had a cracking Christmas in any case
  22. Starting a match thread fuck sake, sheer cunt of a move, you reprobate All joking aside though, great opportunity to level ourselves on points with them, at this stage of the season, that's mightily impressive, normally they have a decent advantage points wise at this stage. You have to hand it to the players & the manager, I honestly thought we were going to be fighting for a top 6 spot, let alone be 3 points from 1st! Still a long way to go obviously, but we have a good bit of momentum at the moment & I see no reason for that to change. Think it'll be tight, but play the way we have been, Celtic will struggle defensively. Team selection, depending on Lowe being fit of course, will be like this Lewis Logan Considine McKenna Lowe ( Shinnie ) Ferguson Shinnie ( Gleeson ) McGinn May McLennan Cosgrove If Lowe doesn't make it, stick Shinnie to LB and put Gleeson in the middle with Ferguson. Also worth noting, Mackay-Steven is supposed to be fit & available for this one, is he not? I reckon we're in for a high scoring ( tight ) affair, 3-2 to the good guys ( Cosgrove, Considine, May ) COYFR
  23. Definitely over the top, but I was genuinely pleased for him, he definitely made a positive contribution when he came on.
