Markus Heikkinen Seriously Ill

http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/article3144352.ece

FORMER Aberdeen ace Markus Heikkinen has been struck down with deadly meningitis.

The 31-year-old was diagnosed last week after complaining to doctors of blinding headaches.

Midfielder Heikkinen, who now plays for Austria's Rapid Vienna, is expected to remain in hospital for at least a week.

Doctors in Vienna have put him on a high dose of antibiotics to fight the infection.

Finland international Heikkinen played 68 times for the Dons and scored twice between 2003 and 2005.

An Aberdeen spokesman said: "We're devastated to hear this news. Markus is a great guy and very popular with fans.

"But I'm sure he has the strength and character to pull through."

It is not known what strain of meningitis Swedish-born Heikkinen is suffering from.

Most people with viral meningitis can recover within a couple of weeks.

Best of luck Markus.

Hopefully he makes a good recovery and pulls through.

Good luck markus, hope you make a full recovery.

Get well soon Markus. Here's to a full recovery.

Nasty!

Get Well Soon Markus.

As everyone else has said, speedy recovery.

Was a joy to watch him at a time when our team was otherwise mainly filled with mediocrity.

Wishing Markus a full and speedy recovery

Get well soon Markkus!

Sounds like he'll be fine though despite the histrionics in the paper.

Fuck's sake, hope he makes a full recovery.
