19afc03
as reported in the P&J this morning. I know they have professional choices to make, but reputedly he was going to be one of the highest paid players at todders. Coming from relative obscurity at Celtic & Wolves to getting a game every week, and even being considered for Scotland and refusing the chance of long term stability at one of Scotlands top clubs in very uncertain times really pisses me off. These f*ckers really don't know when they are on to a good thing do they?

I know defending wasn't the strongest aspect of his game but he is improving and if by some miracle he was to be replaced (unlikely) I highly doubt we'd have a player that's anywhere near as good. It's a sad state of afairs because Mulgrew's hardly a world beater as it is.

mizer
Get him sold in Jan then! From the retard http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2009/11/03/aberdeen-hand-charlie-mulgrew-ultimatum-sign-now-or-go-in-january-86908-21794080/ WILLIE MILLER last night warned Charlie Mulgrew to sign his new contract at Aberdeen - or face being dumped in January. The director of football at Pittodrie has revealed that former Celtic defender Mulgrew has been offered an "exceptional" deal to remain with Mark McGhee's side. But Miller won't wait forever for a decision and has warned the set-piece specialist the club will put him up for sale when the transfer window opens in the New Year. Gothenburg legend Miller has demanded a speedy reply from the 23-year-old who returned to Scotland two years ago in a £100,000 from Wolves. Aberdeen are desperate to hold on to the player who will be a free agent in the summer but Miller said: "Charlie Mulgrew has been made a take-it-or-leave-it offer. "Although he is out of contract at the end of the season there will be no more offers made to him after this one. It is a revised and exceptional one and now we are looking for an answer. "He has a decision to make and we are trying hard to convince him to remain at Pittodrie. He is a young player who still has a lot to learn and we want to be part of his development. Slim
McGhee’s problems have been compounded by Mulgrew’s decision to reject Aberdeen’s offer of a long-term contract extension. The former Celtic defender was given a take-it-or-leave-it offer by director of football Willie Miller. Free to talk to other clubs on January 1, Mulgrew has opted to leave it and McGhee said: “Charlie has been made an outstanding offer and he has turned it down. I still have to speak to him to find out why that is the case and what his thinking is.†Mulgrew’s agent Kevin Drinkell said: “Charlie just wants to concentrate on playing his football at the moment. “He feels he has settled down as a player and is enjoying what he is doing for the first time in several years. “He knows if he works hard in training he will play every week and that's all he wants to do. He's not thinking about anything else at this stage.†

These f*ckers really don't know when they are on to a good thing do they? So which one of Scotland's top clubs offered him a contract? Almost of all the fans are concerned about where the club is heading, £10M in debt, manager not been given any funds for players, we've lost 4 experienced players and signed 2 and a total reliance on youngsters. Mulgrew has served the contract he signed and done it mostly i'd say with a decent degree of quality. If you ask me Mulgrew knows exactly what he's doing. Penfold
Needs to be sold in January if he hasnt signed within the first week. By then he'd have had plenty time to get an idea of what other clubs are interested and what they are offering. This season can be written off. There's no point holding onto him for 6 months and missing out on a (small) fee. Foster is a capable left back (as shown again on Saturday) and we have other players in the squad who can take set pieces.
tsr
I would be inclined to keep Mulgrew, we're not going to get a good bid in January, he's not daft, he'll know any fee the club could have got will go towards his signing on fee. Surely its in our interests to keep playing Mulgrew when he will undoubtedly be playing for a move therefore playing out of his skin? I think this will particularly be the case in the Scottish Cup which we really need a good run in. Wouldn't be keen on us writing of any chance of winning it in a season where the Old Firm are so poor.
