Festivals

As festival season is slowly creeping up on us, I thought I'd do my usual and tout my TITP tickets to the bidder mug with the most cash.  Thereafter I'll go online, book flights and take in a festival with better weather, women and beer.

Have done the obvious ones so far:

Benicassim (nr Valencia) - http://fiberfib.com/en/line-up/line-up-2008/

Roskilde (nr Copenhagen) - http://www.roskilde-festival.dk/2008/frontpage/

Summercase (Barcelona/Madrid) - http://www.summercase.com/indexen.html

But prefer to keep on, keeping on and try something new, rather than hitting the same one every year.  Anyone been to any weird and wonderful others they'd recommend?

Will there be a glow stick amnesty bin?

Rockness was superb, saw so many great bands.

Top 5 for me were Alabama 3, Orbital, The Aliens, Flaming Lips and Special Disco Version.

Japanese Popstars were a great bounce!

I met James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) on the Sunday night.  What a great bloke!

When you say met do you actually mean approached in some sycophantic stalker way saying "are you james murphy from LCD sounsystem? I love your music man"

I always thought rape was more of a mad fuck than a sad fuck.

There were tears afterwards.

Oddly enough I have had some sad fucks approach me saying just that sort of thing.

I raped them.

Ahhh that explains why my arse was over after I said that to you.
At next week's Glastonbury Festival, the first ever eFestivals' Glastonbury World Cup will be played in front of the Pyramid Stage, between England and the Rest of the World teams.

The event begins at 3pm on Wednesday 24th June with live pre-match entertainment from Hobo Jones & the Junkyard Dogs with the World Cup match kicking off at 4pm.

Players, mainly members of the eFestivals forums, are coming together to be part of the England vs The Rest Of The World football match, which will be raising funds for WaterAid. Along with forum members, there will be players from WaterAid, and Q Magazine who will also be there to cover the event for the Q Glastonbury review magazine!

During the match there will be a squad of cheerleaders from the eFestivals' forums supporting the teams, whilst WaterAid staff will be there with buckets to collect donations from the spectators. There will also be face painters around before and during the game to paint everybody's faces with the fee going to WaterAid. During the half time period kids/adults in the crowd are invited to take some penalties against the goalies for a £1 donation.

After the game there will be a Presentation Ceremony with Festival organiser Michael Eavis presenting the trophy. Shortly afterwards there will be a raffle with items donated from Emily Eavis, eFestivals, WaterAid, and Aberdeen FC.

If this sounds like your sort of thing, please come along on the day to be part of the first World Cup in Glasto's history, support the players and give whatever you can to a very good cause, WaterAid.

Anyone know how we are linked to this?

No idea, but one of the guys organising it is from Inverurie.

At one point I was down to play, but I can't be arsed.  Will pop along to watch though.

AFC have donated a signed football.

Not long till T, can't wait (and save the slaggings, as they've been done to death and are just boring).

So who's going?  Kowalski, I know you are, as I see you posting regularly over on efestivals

Never knew Kowalski was a forum slut - I thought he had a real life when he wasn't posting here!  :-*

Oh yes, he's a man of many posts over there!

Aye it was superb, I highly recommend it!

The line-ups in many of these festivals are pissy.

I'm thinking of taking a trip down to Green Man in Wales seeing as Connect/Indian Summer etc are not on this year.  Bon Iver, Animal Collective etc on the bill, looks a cracking location too, if a bit of a bastard to get to.  I usually go to T but I've had enough of it, the decision to take away the Pet Sounds Arena where I usually spend most of my time was the final straw.
