TheDonbytheDee Posted November 30, 2025 Report Posted November 30, 2025 Billy Bonds - Ex West Ham United captain, away at 79. I remember my first Panini sticker book as a kid having the West Have Team of the time, around about 1980 ,and how old they all looked. 799 games for West Ham, but actually started his career at Charlton, Quote

I remember more from the Kids TV series Mr Majieka I just discovered he was gay. Not surprised, as he played the female parts with a lot of enthusiasm, but had never realised he had come out. Married a woman, but it was a lavender marriage. Hard to believe the lengths they had to go to back then to hide their sexuality. RIP Quote

wokinginashearerwonderland Posted December 25, 2025 Report Posted December 25, 2025 One of those players I wish I had been alive to have seen. From what I’ve heard people like Clough and O’Neill say about him, Robertson was something special. To earn 28 caps in that era, he must have been decent. I’m guessing he would have been someone that would walk into the current national side (along with the ten Grant Hanleys obviously). Quote
