I haven't included Vinnie as he'll be moving on, and if we're targeting Soumano then we're definitely after another left winger. Haven't included Ambrose either, but who knows what our plans are for him. An attacking midfielder would be great. Will be interesting to see which youth players make the European squad and which ones go out on loan. Striker - I can't see us buying another "project". So I think it'll either be Nesbit*, a loan signing, or we'll spend the money on someone who has been banging them in elsewhere. All three of those options are not July signings - usually you have to wait until late August. If by the end of August we have Nesbit, Soumano and Pedri in the door, then it's time to begin thinking of a good catchphrase for our next cup winning t-shirt. *As much as I'd love Nesbit back as I thought he was an intelligent footballer, I don't see it unless Millwall drastically drop the price or Cormack just pays the money to match what Hearts & Hibs are paying Shankland & Boyle respectively. I don’t expect to see shinnie and sivert playing together a lot. Think Clarkson and palaversa did well enough last year that between those two, polvara and the new guy, plus a potential new #10, the two oldies may be rotated. Quote

Firstly, that's how we're liking up next season if Jimmy Thelin's what's apps are anything to go by. I appear to have been added to both a Dons management group and a classified Donald Trump one. From what I gather, 4-3-3 and a nuclear strike on Moscow are both happening in August. Secondly, easiest way of fitting in all our midfielders in the graphic. 1 Quote
Slim Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago It’ll be interesting to see how/if Alfie Bavidge fits in. I read somewhere that he tended to play in a deeper role, or even out wide, rather than the main no. 9 at both Ayr and ICT. Quote

I could see him getting to the level of someone like Bruce Anderson if he works hard. I mentioned it when he first came in, he doesn't have the pace to make it, nor the height to make up for the pace. He uses his body well and has a decent touch. He can definitely make a go of it at professional level, he might just need a couple of years working out the best way to make his attributes work best in the senior game. He's not going to get that opportunity for us I don't think. Quote
Panda Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago (edited) https://www.afc.co.uk/2025/07/06/adil-is-a-don/ There's the new number 10. Signed on loan from Sunderland with an option to buy. Edited 2 hours ago by Panda 1 Quote
redordead Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Credentials look really good. Goals record not so much. Let's hope he settles in well and gets an early goal. Quote
tom_widdows Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Heres hoping hes more successful than some of the french players that have graced the pittodrie pitch. Alex Di Rocco seems to be the only one I have positive memories of. Although the mystery around Toni Koumbuare's age was at least interesting Edited 2 hours ago by tom_widdows Quote
Slim Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Aye-you-chee-chay? Looks like he suffered from the exceptionally poor piece of luck that the manager he fell out of favour with at Lorient was then appointed manager at his new club Sunderland. Quote

Appears to be more of an attacking midfielder rather than a striker. So while it would be nice for him to chip in with some goals not a massive concern. He’s only 22 so has played a decent amount of games at Ligue 1 and championship level. 1 Quote

Just thought I'd join to give a bit of an opinion on Aouchiche. Technically he's a really good footballer. Due to injuries he spent a lot of his time with us out on the left wing, which probably explains the lack of goals. Even when it was obvious that he wasn't going to be part of the plans, he always gave 100% whenever he was called upon and had a brilliant attitude. Probably lacks that bit of pace that can make all the difference in terms of making it at the very top, but he's a good passer of the ball, creative if given any time on the ball, and can play in a few positions. Suspect he'd see himself as a 10 but he's one of those players who you can probably use anywhere in midfield. When we sent him out on loan last season a lot of our fans thought we should have kept him in and around the squad due to being a good option who never let us down. I expect you'll find almost every Sunderland fan has nothing but good things to say about the lad and, if he feels at home in Aberdeen, I think he could be very effective. Will be looking out for him and hope he does well, even if he ends up moving away permanently. Find him a settled position, have runners around him, and you'll have yourself a very good player, best of luck 6 Quote
tlg1903 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I don't know about anyone else but I had to rub my eyes and re-read the first few paragraphs when I realised it said we had signed a 22yo that was able to break into the psg first team at 17 and manage a goal to. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Interesting that we sign three aussies, then we sign this guy who played with Portsmouth so has played with yengi. And we are linked with another Frenchman. Seems a common theme to help players settle that they have some sort of link?? Quote

And thank you for your assessment, I've just spent the last ten minutes trying to find that kind of detail from a Mackem and then you just drop it here. FWIW I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Sunderland, one of the best bosses I ever had was a diehard Sunderland fan so I'm always pleased for him when you do well. The club statement has him down as a no 10 so i doubt he will ever be out wide unless it's an emergency. I can guarantee we will have plenty of runners for him though and my excitement at this signing is growing almost exponentially just that you say that. In Morris, Keskinen and Milanovic we have three of the quickest wingers in the league and with the kind of service you're implying they will have a field day. Quote

It’s worries me when people get this enthusiastic. I was excited when I saw highlights of Ambrose! At the same time, I’m liking the attributes and info on our signings, including a tank of a forward. We seem to have signed decent flare and pace, and players who have a positive reputation. This guy is intriguing, and an option to buy is a good thing. Still think we are missing our best 9, maybe he’s the missing link? Quote

I also watched this and Ambrose never broke into the PSG first team at 17 2bf. From the look of it this boy is one of the most technically gifted player we have signed in decades. Add into that a good attitude and it's hard to see a player like that fail in our league. Quote

We’ve been crying out for a 10 since them, thought McGrath may be the answer but we stuck him out left for various reasons. Interesting type of signing, a bit like palaversa, a young hot prospect who lost his way. Unlike the one year deal that can be extended that we gave to palaversa, a loan with option to buy isn’t that different. Hope he’s a winner!! Quote

Panda Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Had a look to see how often Aouchiche and Tengi played together at Portsmouth. Not very often appears to be the answer, mainly due to Yengi's injuries. Notable though that Aouchiche played both just off the striker, and also on the right hand side. The Sunderland fan @SAFC fan said he often played off the left for them. So his versatility is good and from the highlights video @tlg1903 posted he looks comfortable with both feet. One game Yengi and Aouchiche did play together was the 2-1 defeat to Preston, where Yengi played as the main striker and Aouchiche on the right. Aouchiche pretty lively in the first half. His birthday is in 12 days, so although we've signed a 22 year old, he'll be 23 by the time he makes his debut, which changes EVERYTHING. Quote

I posted a video and said "from the look of it he's one of the most technically gifted players we have signed in decades". I've not stated anything as a fact, far less "announced" it, only spoken my hunch from viewing a highlight reel (and, as a first impression, I stand by it btw). I know you work in sports journalism and spinning what someone has said must be second nature but that doesn't make it true. Quote

Yeah in my head Madigol and Bojan were two big contenders for best technical players we have had the past few decades. Forgot about Christie 2bf, you could maybe bring Zerouali into that conversation as well i suppose Quote

I would debate more, but after your comment below I won't bother. 4 minutes ago, tlg1903 said: I know you work in sports journalism and spinning what someone has said must be second nature but that doesn't make it true. You might want to be a bit more careful with your language then. announce /əˈnaʊns/ verb verb: announce; 3rd person present: announces; past tense: announced; past participle: announced; gerund or present participle: announcing make a formal public statement about a fact, occurrence, or intention. I stated nothing as fact therefore I could not be announcing anything. Language is important. It's probably best you don't debate, you clearly spun what I said so you could challenge me on the point as if I had stated it as fact. You don't have much of a leg to stand on quite frankly. Quote

I think you need to lighten up. Posting on a football forum that someone is 'one of the most technically gifted player we have signed since the early 90s' is a big statement to make, and is going to have people replying suggesting you're a bit OTT this early on, which I actually think I did very lightly.
