  1. It's amazing the lengths that they'll go to, to ensure that the big teams get bigger. What a contrived bunch of shite. Weirdly, the projected examples they give have us playing CSKA Sofia in the playoff round, but in their next tweet, neither qualify for the final 32. They didn't make it completely clear that it was any team in pot 1 that can play any team in pot 4 (rather than the highest seeds getting pot 4 teams), but given the pot 4 teams seem better than pot 3, I'm guessing they couldn't engineer it any further to ensure the biggest team gets in. I hope Inverness win tonight to save us from all this shite.
  2. McKenzie not good enough to start, but a good squad player to cover left back and left centre back. He's not that young anymore either! A back 4 would be great, but it's slightly harder to accommodate the 2 up front without sacrificing midfield. I don't see it happening while Duk is in the team. He needs to be kept away from defending at all costs and also be allowed to try things and lose the ball now and again, so the extra man in midfield is essential.
  3. County could be in danger, with thistle 1-0 up and County down to ten. Unfortunately due to sky's pish coverage of Scottish fitba I've never bothered to subscribe and can't watch it. Obviously they've chosen to finally take an interest after ignoring the entire playoffs so far and any relegation games. A fucking farce. 2-0 now.
  4. Good bit of business in theory. I had it in my head we'd actually signed him, so the try before you buy is a bit of a relief. With Miovski, Ramadani and Myslovic tried and tested we should have a better barometer for the Eastern Europe laddies. There's likely only so much you can get from the stats and the videos and it must be difficult to guage how a player will translate to playing in a different league. Knowing that we need to aim higher than Zilina (where he played 60 games) is probably useful.
  5. Moult would have been an excellent signing at the time we needed him. He'd likely have got us into the group stages in Europe and the final of the league cup too. Just by not being Nicky Maynard. That he spent the rest of his career injured was neither here nor there. It was all about timing with Moult though, we had already won our first leg against Apollon and he was a guy on peak form and ready to slot straight in. Van Veen is slightly different because we've got the whole summer to consider a move. I think we could do better, but we could also do a lot worse, and likely will. The difficulty won't be whether he can replicate this season's form, but whether he can cope with being a bit-part player in and out of the team as second choice to Miovski. It's clear his fitness has vastly improved this season and that's offered him another half yard of pace too which is the difference - he's always been an intelligent player that plays on the shoulder and uses his body well. I think that as a like for like replacement for Miovski in what will be a busy season I think he'd be a great signing. However, he won't offer us anything different from the bench, which is what we often need when trying to break teams down at home. As you say, he's not remotely comparable to Main or Jet. I'd be concerned that he'd come and be benched and start not enjoying his football to the extent that his confidence goes. He does seem to be a confidence player.
  6. Are St Johnstone not in the league cup group stages?
  7. Who do we play once we're through the groups?
  8. It's a fantastic record. He's clearly been playing some great stuff and it's definitely merited. Any cunt can score for either cheek, it's impressive to do it so consistently with shite like Motherwell. I expect he'll break that record with the dons next season.
  9. Hopefully not. I normally assume that if the P&J says something, the opposite will happen. It's usually a good rule of thumb. He leaves a massive hole in our midfield. That said, if we get a good attacking midfielder, then any combination of Shinnie, Ramadani and Barron as a 2 in a 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-1-2 might make up for it.
  10. Really need some strikers.
  11. Aye, Dundee are normally so sensible in their managerial choices.
  12. Not that I give much of a shite about the English pish, I'd have liked to have seen a supposed big club in Everton go down. Seems like they've been taken by a spiv, and it'd be good to see a team in England get their comeuppance. Nothing against Everton in particular.
  13. Is he left sided? From memory, he was coming through at the same time as McKenna but was the poorer of the two. Went to Coventry?
  14. Didn't see the game today due to a broken car. This sounds very like Shayden though. His pace is good, not exceptional, but wasted entirely by his lack of positional sense and general misunderstanding of football. Him and Richardson are both championship manager style signings, in that they have fantastic attributes that would be recorded in the stats. Morris especially, I'm failing to see what a scout saw in person. Perhaps in person doesn't happen as much these days.
  15. That's quite an array of books you've got behind the frame there Seabass. Good work with the strip, looks good.
  16. That's disappointing. He showed real potential earlier in the season.
  17. What about: "play Kennedy because the other guy is about to net us £2M"? Or: "play Kennedy because the other guy is about to net us £2M and, he isn't Jayden Richardson"?
  18. Agreed with regards Levitt and Clarkson. I also think that McRorie is leaving too soon, but that's because some wild English club are willing to pay £2M for a guy who's yet to have a cross be met by an Aberdeen player. I can see you in a few years time meeting Clarkson in a night club after he's just won the league with Newcastle or some other English pish, leaning into him in boozy tears, saying "but you said that we'll see you in Europe?". Certainly, that's the reason I'm refusing to accept his signing. I've had my heart broken before.
  19. There was a lot of pressure on him with a shite defence and being forced to play out from the back. Absolutely everything going long now, so it's helped him focus on the other parts of his game, as well as just generally keeping the ball away from him.
  20. I refuse to get excited about anything written in the P&J. Am I right in thinking he's only got a year left at Liverpool? Meaning any move (by the player, anywhere) would likely be permanent rather than another loan?
  21. He's just a young lad, so it's probably best not to read too much into his Twitter comments, but let's do it anyway. He says "we", rather than "I". The "we" he's referring to could be Liverpool, who are likely to be in the same tournament. Or, I suspect, more likely, that the player is as in the dark about his future as anyone else. Hopefully Robson has kidnapped his family or something. It'd be the biggest signing the club has made this century if they could get him. Can't think of a guy with his potential signing in the last twenty years. Far more about him than either Ferguson or McLean (or Severin), which isn't a criticism of those players. Obviously I'm excluding Ronnie Hernandez.
  22. I said immediately at the game that it was a red, but in fairness to the ref I think he'd already moved on and missed the incident. One of those ones where he follows the ball and can just catch a glimpse of the late challenge, so you know it's definitely a booking, but probably not aware of the seriousness of the challenge. I had a great view because I'm behind the goal, so could see the play continuing and the foul, the ref was side on. It's certainly one the linesman should have seen, but you do wonder if they just left it to VAR as they weren't sure. I have to say, it's the only real uncontentious - or worthy - clear and obvious decision I've seen VAR intervene in for us this season. It's pretty much as expected, very few of them to be worth it. It worked as expected last night, whilst also allowing convenient time for me to go for a pish.
  23. "Nicky Devlin, on his final home appearance as a Livingston player, raced down the right and flashed a teasing ball across the face of goal which wiped out the visitors defence and allowed the onrushing Shinnie to nudge it in" Dons Legend. Setting up Shinnie for Shinnies' third goal of the night. Five assists for the season I think, which puts him up there with Johnny Hayes. McRorie did a lot of good running last night but an entire season with no assists isn't a great stay. His season was summed up with that opportunity near the end where he did brilliantly to out muscle the defender to get into the box, at which point he panicked and kicked it out of play. I assume we're just getting Devlin and spending the McRorie money on the third place party? That'd be classic Robson.
  24. More like he'll be taking in one of our away games with his mates. He was absolutely phenomenal today, just a beautiful footballer. Some of the passes he put through were just outrageous. It's the speed that he takes a touch then releases a pass that will get him a move to a higher level. He's going to leave a massive hole. Barron looks for the early pass in the same way but is just that little bit slower in releasing it and doesn't play the same swagger. A really enjoyable night tonight. Shinnie was class, obviously, Roos and the back three solid (loved Roos' save from Main). Ramadani worked his arse off and Duk was just dicking about having a laugh. Miovski secured his place for next season too. Good to see McRorie celebrating at the end too, alongside all the players that won't be here next season. Would like to have seen Captain Stewart make an appearance, just for a laugh.
  25. Potential to be the best signing since Gary Naismith.
