  1. Haha no don't worry it wasn't a dig at you at all! Moreso Britain as a whole as to me it seems logical, but being brought up on that you only know what your taught. I just assumed it was what your were taught as a basic footballing skill. Re your last sentance. Its certainly nothing that I ever heard, because we certainly kept scores in the leagues we played in. But with regards to them not cementing a position down until about that age I think thats true in certain clubs but having never played at that "professional" youth level I can't really comment. My coach certainly kept us to certain positions.
  2. Its how I learned to play football in Holland as well when I was younger. Is it not something that Brits are taught by their coaches?!?! Because you make it sound like a novel concept?
  3. i noticed that too, thought i'd keep quiet and hoped no-one would notice
  4. Personally, I'd like to actually reach a final, then we would obviously have a chance of winning it. We haven't made one yet under JC and this really annoys me as the cup draws have actually been quite favourable to us Like ST says, Europe to me is about making revenue and playing teams we wouldn't normally be playing. A trophy is for life and something i really want to remember how it feels like. I didn't really support the Dons when we won our last trophy so would actually like to know what it feels like now that means a lot more than it did back then. So all in all, i agree with what you are saying wee toon red!
  5. Can't disagree with anything he's said there. Problem is we've been there and done that so many times. As I said before, the same excuses can only be used a couple of times. I'm surprised the club has not come out about Jimmy's position i.e. he's got the season to save his job or he has the full backing of the board. I hope WM smashed a few heads against walls/any hard surface after that result.
  6. He has brought us stability and turned us into mediocrity (which is obviously a great step considering where we were). But the next obvious problem is that I and many of us don't think he can take us to that next required step. To a final and/or winning a trophy. The progress that we made under him has flat lined and the fact that he still comes out with the same excuses/reasons/bewilderment everytime we play lesser or lower league opposition I think proves this. It is something he should have worked out by now. Lord knows we've had enough cup upsets.
  7. Well he was certainly as brain dead as Fergahun last night that's for sure!
  8. Completely agree. I forgot to add that bit in really, but that was my point in a roundaboutish way Aluko did look knackered and i'm not surprised. Did a lot of running.
  9. See I don't think it is time to go for a risky manager, but maybe thats just me. Last time we tried it we nearly got relegated (Paterson). Him and Shearer were supposed to be the hottest duo in Scotland and we got them, but it failed miserably. To be honest, I just can't see who we would a) be able to afford b) want.
  10. Can't argue with that, you gonna fund him though? The thing is though, as has been covered on the other thread, I think if Tommy Wright had a) started (with Mackie coming late on to stretch the play if necessary) or b) Wright had come on 40 mins earler, I think it wouldn't have gone into extra time etc. He made a very positive impact when he came on. I just wish JC had seen what was so blatently obvious to us all!
  11. I think he's talking about the first chance we had where Aluko got a flick on from Maguire and crossed it in. I think Mackie should have at least made contact with it. It was a tough chance with the defender putting pressure on him, but I still think he should have got a shot out of it. These things happen though.
  12. I believe it was, Another cup game and another embarrassing cup exit for Aberdeen I left the room at this stage, couldn't bare to watch or hear it again.
  13. I think he's just saying we need a proper striker are you not D_D? It doesn't really have anything to do with penalties, just the absolute lack of shooting or composure shown by our "team".
  14. I was curious as to what he said. I didn't hang around after the penalty debalce, I was pretty much ready to leave as the end of second half of extra time loomed.
  15. I'm sure he saved one the last time we went out on penalties did he not?
  16. He did miss! And we did go out, but I think our fate was already setup by that excuse of a captain. What a pathetic penalty that was!
  17. I agree re: Mair, I thought he didn't do anything wrong at all and was raging when he got subbed (but was later told he was injured) so thats fair enough. I wonder how many folk who actually have tickets will not bother going this Saturday.
  18. Going to be a hell of a bad atmosphere on Saturday. And the truth be told, I think we have to see a HUGE difference in passion. Hopefully McDonald will bring that, I just fear we are pinning too much on the lad (especially since he's coming back form injury). Seve should be no-where near the midfield, he has been fucking woeful. People say we miss Miller, but we miss McDonald far more than him. Its no coincidence we've been shit since he's been out. We were shit whilst Miller was in the team. Come on to fuck JC get your fucking team motivated for this clash with the jakey bastards! PULL YOUR FINGER OUT! The Red Army expects!
  19. Completely agree. I did think though (didn't realise it was Foster at the time) that when he ran up to take his penalty, it all happened too quickly and you could just tell he was going to miss. I couldn't believe it was actually Foster taking the penalty.
  20. My answer to that would be no. As I think Kowalski said on another thread, if we actually make Europe, I would trust JC a helluva lot more than the names being touted. But alas I don't think we will finish third, that went after our draw with St. Midden, but we need to make sure we finish in a european spot. As you say, the board has a hell of a lot of thinking to do.
  21. I think we all know JC isn't going to leave and we can't afford to sack him due to the remainder of the contract. I really thought at half time he would give the players an absolute bollocking, but clearly he cannot motivate his team whatsoever. I keep having replays of that pathetic excuse of a captain's penalty going through my head I don't really know who'd I'd like and as I stated earlier, I think JN would be a good shout but as someone said, he'd probably feel obliged to leave with JC and hopefully SC. That was the worst cup display i've seen since Livingston a few years back under Paterson (even the previous seasons under JC we had a bit more fight about us). It really does worry me that we will end up with shiters like JJ and BW, the board have previous for picking shocking managers, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in the summer. Personally, I don't think getting 3rd is good enough. Willie Miller stated that a cup run was required this season (did he not?) and he has failed to deliver. Questions need to be asked of the management setup and we deserve answers from the club. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, but i'm still raging.
  22. Aluko had zero service and the strikers weren't making the necessary runs. I thought Kerr looked absolutely knackered by the extra time started kicking in. Has to be Diamond or Kerr for me. Probably Diamond for his ability to actually get past players and show a bit of passion. Zander is definitely captain material now.
  23. Agree. I didn't want to post last night because I was full of the rage. I think earlier on in the season (probably post Killie I think it was) I thought he should be given at least till the end of the season. Now I think that he has to go then. I wasn't a jmg or jig guy but now I think he has no choice but to go. The thing is, I know he won't "I owe it to the fans to stay etc...." I'm fucking raging still. Said this on MAD the other week, I think JN would be an ideal manager. It is his time to step up to the plate, but I don't know if some fans will take to him either
