I wasn't going to bother responding as I don't think the first comment is worth the time of day. The second comment though; Not one person said it would take a season to sort everything out, until it became obvious that things were not going to work out as well as was predicted, now that may have been as early as immediately after the sigma debacle but prior to that, it was all fantasy land stuff.

It's harsh because it is quite obviously inconsistent with how other red carded players have been dealt with throughout the rest of the season. It is, if only for bowing to the minor pressure from a few malcontents. Regardless. I don't agree that keeping McGhee will ease the divisions within the support. The fact is he is not fit for purpose, there is no other argument. However, as our board are incapable of making any type of decision other than a bad one, I'm expecting McGhee will be on the touchline at the start of the season and I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two transfer fee's paid in the summer. I can only hope that the Angus costumes label, is at this moment being marked MM by Mrs McGhee.

I think you have to bear in mind that football in 1988 is so far removed from what it is today it might as well be a different sport. the extra grand a week that Charlie is talking about is probably equivalent to his highest wage as a player. Anyway, I remember being in (I think) P5 when he signed and instantly deciding to support Arsenal (in England), going back to school and my best mate had done the same thing. I also remember there being folk in my class who didn't know and didn't believe we had signed him. Just for the record the supporting Arsenal thing only lasted a week or two.
