  1. Fergie had been at Utd so long his and the methods of his staff (coaches and players) had/have become institutionalized. By getting rid of the existing coaching staff and implementing his own methods Moyes not only alienated the players he probably also confused them. If ever there was a case for succession planning, with the new manager working alongside the existing one it was there, however the personality required to "manage" a club like united would have no doubt led to conflict rendering that virtually impossible. If Moyes had been sensible he'd have cruised his first season. Kept Phelan et al, completed the signings already lined up. His ego wouldn't let him though. That said there are too many players there that are not good enough to form such a large part of a top side.
  2. Didn't Sevco fans claim they would boycott games against the Pikeys? So surely it will be 11-13k attendance for that Semi. What's that?? Folk with links to whichever incarnation of that club are less than true to their word ?
  3. Just back to hotel off George Square. Throat raw, nerves shredded, could barely stand for pens, but fucking ecstatic... Yasssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!
  4. For me he doesn't touch the ball just takes the keeper out and even if he did get a touch, that was a secondary intention after clattering the keeper. If you jump into an outfield player anywhere on the park, it's a foul. Christ you take a rugby player out off the ground and it's a penalty. As far as the rest of your post I 100% agree. You see it in the english lower leagues with relative regularity, *cough* chesterfield *cough*. I think it's seen as an actual viable business plan, and this is how Sevco are administering it. Until there is proper deterrent, and in my opinion the only real deterrent is relegation in the season you enter administration, then the crooks will continue to play the system. The fact is the clubs and the football authorities in Scotland had the opportunity to improve the system for the better, but instead it remains set up to benefit only two clubs, one of which has less than 2 years of history, and it stinks to high heaven.
  5. New club same shit. At no other ground in no other game involving any version of any other team would that goal have stood. Utterly corrupt. Waiting on the 94th minute penalty now...
  6. Deeeee-lighted.
  7. Why would that make a difference? Personally I could not understand why keeping the pound was being proposed, as we would be subject to the BoE's interest rates. Which to my mind makes it Devo-Max, but I suppose Dave's thoughts make sense. The Irish had a currency union for 50 odd years following their independence. The Channel Islanders currently do. Proof within the British Isles that it can work and if you want the ultimate proof look at the Swiss and the Lichtensteiners. Certainly it makes sense in the short term, as it would have provided stability for trade and investment on both sides of the border. I can't help but think the move is so stupid that Salmond had not prepared for it. Really he should just have said not a problem, Pound Scots it is. These are all minor issues, really, in the grand scheme of things. Truly the only important question is "do you want to be in control of your own destiny?". It is interesting that the debate has moved on very quickly from the Scots would be too poor and too stupid to get themselves out of trouble to "we're going to make it as awkward as possible for you to make a success of it, and you will be too poor and too stupid to get yourselves out of trouble". I'm not sure if it's more or less patronising. As an aside, what happens to the value of the GBP if all Scotland's gilts are removed from the BoE especially if the largest percentage of future oil & gas revenue is removed at the same time?
  8. This. We've just deservedly knocked out the team the morons, who comment on our game, state are the best team in Scotland. A team that, arguably, we've had the better of in our previous two meetings. I'd say, employing the best Scots logic, that makes us the best team in Scotland. Lets face it there should be fuck all argument from anyone else within this isle IF we go on and win both these cups, and there is no reason we shouldn't.
  9. Don't be tempted to spit at the screen, but I followed this quine on twitter yesterday, nae sure why as she seems to be fae Northern Ireland and eveyrbody knows we hate folk fae Northern Ireland...
  10. He'll no doubt be asked to explain his comments...
  11. Dunno but he's desperate to get St Johnstone back into the game...
  12. Not sure why anyone is surprised at this I remember hearing about the old club staying overnight at a hotel in Edinburgh, for a Hearts game, while they were in administration.
  13. Adam Rooney < Me Hope not, he looked hopeless the times I saw him play for Swindle last season.
  14. Arguably looked a better signing than Brown did when he was at... that club that folded, I forget what they were called?? before he got his injury. Can only assume he never recovered properly from his fucked knee.
  15. Well if Zola is back off to Burton it better be after Saturday, he seems to have a knack of scoring against Cheltenham.
  16. Interestingly (or not) Burton have freed Rene Howe today who has since joined Newport.
  17. This made me smile... Presumably should read
  18. Cunt has cunt of a terminal illness, but is still a cunt. I don't wish ill on him, I just couldn't give a shit. I suppose he may deserve a little respect if he was to raise awareness or money for research into MND but a glance at the press over the last day or two suggests he's more interested in punting stories to the press about orgies and celebrating going caving in Jordan's minge, like it's an exclusive club.
  19. Aye, you're correct The Nigels, rightly, aren't seeded.
  20. Fair few Flakirk players called Clarke Erikkson ;-)
  21. It's the least of their worries but, I found them having players poached by Coventry mildly amusing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24146552
  22. Holy shite, never rated Shelvey and was surprised when Laudrup signed him, fairly sure the lad is special needs after seeing his interview. All Laudrup needs to do now, however, is play that condescending shite from Rodgers to wind him up for a game. Fit a fuckin' prick. The way he was speaking you'd think Liverpool had thumped Swansea not been gifted a draw. ETA How much longer can that other 'crivehpooleh' 'plchrayah' carry-on in his employment as a match summariser? I can only imagine how smug Neville felt when Carragher announced that both Gerrard and Lampard were better than Scholes...
  23. How would one go about complaining to the BBC that they have inaccurately printed a teams name, and have been doing so for around a year?
  24. I think the rocket makes some good points in this thread. Luck - has nothing to do with sport. Two phrases repeated over and over during my recent FA youth module. "Practice makes permanent" and "No such thing as unlucky, there's only poor technique" As MBT states there is a culture of immediate gratification, I see it with the under 9's I coach, set them a drill that's quite technical a good few will give up if they don't "get it" first time. In Bounce, Matthew Syed reckons you can become world class at anything as long as you put in 10000 hours worth of good quality practice. No-one is born with natural ability. In addition a main point of focus in the youth module was warm up's that cover the A B C S (agility balance co-ordination and speed), The thinking behind this is kids nowadays don't go out with their mates of an evening, go into school early and mess about playing tag or bulldog or whatever so they are lacking in the gross motor skills that we may have had at similar ages. Then you add in the win at all costs attitude of some parents and coaches at grass roots level, which further stifles the development of the children. At a tournament in the summer I was having a chat with some of the parents about appropriate language i.e. not using phrases like "get it in the mixer" or "put it in the hole" a coach of another team pipes up with "all my lot understand, get rid of it". This in non-competitive mini-soccer planned so they can try things and make mistakes where we have a retreat to the half way line rule for goal kicks to take the pressure off and stop endless punts forward. I didn't have the heart to point out that, that might be why his team had failed to score a goal in any of the tournaments they had played in.
