    Films

I took my kids to see the New Star Wars and the Peanuts movie before Christmas. New Star Wars amused me as it was original Star Wars rebooted without it having the stigma of being referred to as a reboot. My 10 year old lad enjoyed, my 8 year old daughter wanted to know how long was left after about 1/2 an hour. Peanuts movie I wanted to know how long was left after less than 5 minutes. Got an Amazon Fire stick for Christmas and proceeded to install Kodi and Spintztv (or similar). Then got moaned at for sitting down to watch Creed (as its not a Christmas Movie apparently). I enjoyed it, like star Wars its a reboot in all but name, although I suppose all the Rocky films are in a way. Vince Howard from Friday night Lights was good as Adonis. Nice touch using Andre Ward and Tony Bellew. The fight with Leo Sporino is well choreographed as were the sparring earlier in the film, just a shame the Pretty RiCky Conlon reverted to the traditional Rocky style of constant knock-out punches being landed with unrealistic results. Also watched Hateful 8 was really looking forward to it but finished it a little disappointed. It's a Tarantino film and its a western so it should have been right up my street. I preferred Django. Perhaps if I was American and could buy into the North South divides and racial tensions that simmer just under the surface of everyday American life I may have bought into the characters more, but I'm not so I didn't. I will give it another watch as I sat down to it after driving 600 miles in a day. Oh and I watched Joy the story of the inventor of the magic mop... Odd choice of a story, odd interest from A list actors in taking on roles in the film, odd kind of story telling, very odd family. Oddly enjoyable.
  2. Holy shit that Ellie Downie. She's been hitting those protein shakes HARD...
  3. Presume they need their mates in the media touting bread boy for any and every job in england in the hope that a compensation package will enable them make it till the end of the season?
  4. I went to an EFA CPD session a few years ago. The two young lads taking it gave us a list of players, Carrick, Lampard, Gerrard, Xavi, etc. and asked who was the best player. There was a fair bit of discussion. I though it was a shite question without criteria and told them so, and let my group get on with it (I think the answer the group gave was Carrick because the loud funny one was a Man U fan). All the groups answered and gave their reasons. Then the two smug lads told us it was Xavi as he has the most passes and highest pass completion rate in top flight European football. I piped up "Well if that's your criteria your answer is wrong. Leon Britton is the best player in the world" They looked incredulously at me, one even asked who Leon Britton was... I suppose they were young lads being employed by the FA so their arrogance led them to believe they were more knowledgable than a load of dad coaches and were keen to use stats to prove their theory. That said, I believe stats can be used effectively in football just not in isolation and not by the wrong people. They can't be used to prove an opinion but could be used collectively to form opinion, which could then be tested for accuracy by observation of actual play. Similarly I was also told by an old head "Never tell your players they are unlucky, there is no bad luck in football only bad technique. Practice makes permanent." I wonder if the flying start had a few believing their own hype. There were mentions of title challenges etc. Our best run's come when everyone is keeping their heads down. McInnes needs to get the focus back.
  5. Expected, pre-match, to get gubbed. Ended it feeling cheated. Rarely can you question rugby referee's decisions. Maitland's sin binning was a joke. It's all very well going to the TMO but surely it needs to be real time for that decision. When referee's went what felt like ten games before giving a try without going to the TMO at the start of the tournament why didn't such an important decision warrant it? I can only assume the assured claims of the convicts convinced him as rarely do you see such blatant gamesmanship. I wonder if we'll see a Argie v NZ final.
  6. Is it not this week that the Charles Green hearing as to whether Sevco are liable for his legal expenses was happening? What was the result of that?
  7. In a country where Nick Blackman is worth £1 million, it's a fucking bargain.
  8. A sulky hun (RIP) whose "idol" was a wife beating alkie. Who at 23 has barely played a seasons worth of first team games. I can understand why Hibs wouldn't want The Sevco to have him, but can't see why a team with title ambitions would need him, let alone look to pay a fee to secure his services. If I was the rest of the lads in the dressing room I'd be pissing in his shoes and cutting his favourite tracksuit up, until such times as Stubbs has him training separately.
  9. Was thinking last night. Mings and Fraser down the left side, side sounds almost as good as Hayes and Shinnie. Proof, if needed, that ip-switch are still nae as good as us.
  10. Funny, Cheltenham signed the Wayalzzz U21 keeper the season after we had Jack Butland (engerland U19 keeper) on loan. Jack relegated Scott Brown to the bench. Connor Roberts went on to not play for Bangor City. Hopefully Aberdeen get the next Jack Butland on loan (only from the other side of the Severn) but if 5' 10" is accurate...
  11. Pretty certain Scott Brown is from Wolverhampton.
  12. Taylor-Sinclair to be the new Alan Gow?
  13. We all thought we'd never find a keeper as good as Scott Brown. Trevor Carson had everyone giving it "Scotty who?" after about a month. The only player to come out of last season with any credit (and it's been plenty). I do think that Scott Brown has been a bit more exposed, maybe, than he ever was before. Whether thats the standard or coverage, both size of club and TV, I don't know. I suppose, thinking on it, he was never great at coming to claim a ball. I always thought his weakness was not communicating with his CB's but it appears that ours (Aberdeen) don't have that problem, generally. I've heard it said since he left (CTFC) that the only time you could trust him to command his 6 yard box was in the final 5-10 minutes when he would claim a ball and fall on it to waste time. So he CAN do it. In all my years watching Cheltenham I can't recall a poor decision such as the one made against Killie to give the penalty away. Nor can I recall him chucking one in as he did against the jutes in the SF. Theres a big step up in terms of pressure playing for Aberdeen compared to Cheltenham. I wonder if DM is confident he is a better keeper than AFC have seen at times this season and that is the reason Leighton has gone. I'd be confident Steve Book (Cheltenham keeper coach) would get more out of him...
  14. Marley was a real prospect when he broke through at Cheltenham in L1 under that fucking imbecile, Martin Allen. Not sure his physique was suited to L2 when we got relegated, but rumours since that he was put on some ridiculous contract by Allen with huge appearance bonus'. Which made it impossible to play him if Cheltenham wanted to stay solvent. Still he has certainly improved himself in the intervening years. Not sure if it was just because I knew who he was but he was the one ICT player that I remember from the cup final last year. 3 it's the magic number... (Hayes, Brown & Watkins, former CTFC players)
  15. It looks like it was his gut/chest but he did that modern footballer thing of immediately putting his hands to his face as soon as there is unexpected contact.
  16. Tenner? Bigger legend than the one involved in the most drawn out final game ever (37 final games and counting...) Tickets for that rogering by Crystal Palace "oooh a' they?" were being sold for £1k. Indicative of how out of touch english are.
  17. Off the BBC Gossip page... Presumably his agent talking shit, as we don't generally hear of deals till they've been done under McInnes.
  18. Exactly. It's all utter bollocks. The english voted for the tories because they are a nation of tight fisted cunts. They don't give a fuck about anything beyond their own front door, unless its something they can blame for their own shortcomings. They don't admit to planning to vote for the self interest party because that would out them as selfish cunts, and god forbid the neighbours might think know they're tight. The sadist in me can't wait for these people to moan in 10/20 years time about not being able to send their kids to University or those same kids living at home into their forties. In fact I can't wait to point out how lucky they are, given the cuts to social care spending, that their uneducated socially inadequate child/ren can at least provide them with the care they need, free of charge...
  19. Shame thought Al Murray might at least get his deposit back...
  20. This. Except I know a lot of people who I suspect are Tory voters but would never admit it (at least in front of me). Bunch of tight fisted, selfish, self important imbeciles, lacking in original thought and with a complete lack of social conscience.
  21. I'm kinda looking forward to mushroom burgers and whatever vegans drink at the New Lawn next season in the "National League". However, I do think it rather arrogant forcing your values on the fans of the club you own.

    Comedians

I thought it was another of ???'s's personalities. There was something that hinted/made it obvious just before the pair of them disappeared, if I remember, and of course the pair of them disappeared at the same time. I liked both.
  23. Do they get to keep the money and not refund tickets now the mach has gone beyond 30 minutes?
  24. Oldham have form. Did sponsors pull out when they provided employment to hit and run killer, Lee Hughes?
