  1. I'd rather have Levein than McGhee. But I'd rather have Jimmy than either of them. JC's record is far more impressive than those two. Last 32 of uefa cup (and the memories of Munich and Copenhagen games) pisses all over a league cup runners up spot.
  2. Welcome back to Aberdeen Mark, sorry the Celtic gig went tits up for ya.
  3. You don't fancy Mark McGhee because he can't sustain it.
  4. No manager in his right mind would have picked us over Celtic. But it is frustrating, if McGhee had ended up at Parkhead you wonder where we would have turned for a new manager? Makes getting rid of JC a total farce. Afc in shambolic manager hunt shocker.
  5. I think Noel's talking out of his Arsenal.
  6. Decent signing for St Mirren I would have thought, good spl pro to help tighten up the defence. Also notice this in the bbc article... Let's hope so, a Scott Severin trying to impress a new manager could be a player worth having.
  7. Aye, Mair or less. Do you think he'll slip straight into Helen St Mirrens No.2 slot?
  8. Not so much bored, but certainly getting a bit worried. Think we need to have this sorted by this time next week at the latest, with pre-season only a few weeks away.
  9. Slyfox - first with the latest? Blast from the past. I seem to remember his rumours being unreliable, but some of you feckers are just mean. Welcome on board Mr Fox, you get a mention in the "Whatever hapened to..." thread.
  10. Me too, until we reach a cup final. Like I say I'm happy to buy all the strips for my kids.
  11. I saw it in the club shop yesterday and it looks ok in the flesh. I'll happily buy it for the kids.
  12. Maybe so, but he doesn't want to come here anyway. Hughes wants the Hibs job. McGhee wants the Celtic job. Avril wants to stay at United. We're everyone's 2nd choice.
  13. I dare say most would, however they aint going to get that. The SPL doesn't lend itself to 'silky football', and teams that try it often end up scrapping to retain their spl status. While the media masturbate about Hibs style of football, we all know it's a bit of a myth. The truth is they've been no better than us for years now in terms of product, and much worse in terms of league position.
  14. My head tells me John Hughes would be a disaster waiting to hapen at Aberdeen, but this is the gamble that Ajja was talking about. None of us know for sure what Hughes or any other manager could achieve (or not) at the club. Same as we don't know if Jimmy was on the brink of something special next season. All we can do now is get right behind whoever the new man is, and hope for the best.
  15. A mans greatest tool is himself....you know the rest.
  16. It wasn't complicated.
  17. I'm trying not to be too negative BB, just nerves getting the better of me. It's no secret that I think it was a mistake to get rid of JC, but I want more than anything for the club to get this one right. I just don't want to see us go backwards again.
  18. Compared to some (many) of the names mentioned in this thread I'd be delighted to get Levein. Damage limitation. Most of us on this site were well aware that getting rid of Jimmy was a massive gamble, not because he was a brilliant manager but because it was always going to be very difficult to find a quality replacement who would be willing to take on the job. All the afc-chatters who have been championing Mark McGhee since this mess started clearly didn't consider the possibility that he might not want to come here. Nor might anyone else on their wish list. This is why I'm dreading waking up one morning in the not too distant future and seeing a headline with the words Hughes/Brewster/Butcher/Jeffries/Williamson confirmed as new dons boss.
  19. It was just a bit of 'armless fun.
  20. I think it's a grower. And I'm not talking about Zander's todger.
  21. Has the 'Get Niall nailed' campaign been a success? Congrats mini...
  22. Whilst it's frustrating to remain trophy-less, we're certainly not alone. In the last 5 years the old firm have won every domestic trophy apart from one Scottish cup (hearts) and one league cup (hibs).
  23. A lot of votes for Avril Levein, do you think he could be tempted to take on the challenge of managing a big club?
