Caught a documentary on Amazon Prime about the mighty Leeds United called “Do you want to win?” https://m.imdb.com/title/tt6616364/ It was about their 91/92 league win but also got into some off the off field challenges they had such as racism and hooliganism. I thought it was really good with some great chat with the likes of Vinnie Jones, Strachan and McAllister. What a midfield they had back then with Strachan, McAllister, Batty & Speed!!!

I’m no SNP voter but Nicola is doing a much better and more measured job of it than BoJo who seems all over the place. As above I don’t feel dictated to, I feel informed. But I do sympathise with those who are fed up with it all, especially with current low fatality rates. The only thing I care about is personally not passing it on to my folks who would not survive COVID, and it’s not that difficult to act sensibly and at the same time having a life.

Feels like a perfect storm coming up. COVID restrictions and Brexit, all pointing towards a total clusterfuck. Wonder how many business and livelihoods will be destroyed by it all. And the latest attempt to ignore a legal agreement with the EU, apart from showing the Tories have no shame, just iterates the point that there’s still no solution to Northern Ireland, other than unification with Ireland which feels like is getting closer.

Awful news but I think some of the pictures need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Reports have said most of the train went down an embankment, but some of those photos clearly show carriages on a train line, so it can't be both. But either way, its worrying and perhaps a saving grace that I expect the train wasn't hugely busy. I don't live too far away and there was a considerable amount of rain this morning, definitely biblical!

It’s been a poor week for the Guardian who have managed to show some racism through incompetence. When they announced (the very sad) Death of Denise Johnson they used a picture of another black woman (Mary Pierce) and had to print the following at the bottom of the article: ”This article was amended on 27 July 2020 to replace the main image. A captioning error in photos supplied by an agency led us to publish a picture that was not of Johnson as claimed. It was further amended to correct the incorrect assertion that Johnson sang on Higher Than the Sun, to remove a video showing that song, and to correct Johnson’s age and date of birth.” And today Owen Jones has written an opinion piece “Tackling racism on social media is just the tip of the iceberg“ and incredibly the article says: ”This article mistakenly carried a photograph of Kano when it was first published. The Guardian apologises unreservedly to Kano and our readers for the error, which has now been corrected. Yes I think that's a possibility, but with Durham police now involved BoJo is going to come under huge pressure. I think this could end very badly for BoJo. I suspect Cummings is very capable of taking him down and knows where all the bodies are buried (e.g. Russian report and god knows what else) - and that could be what BoJo was threatened with. What a ridiculous situation to put one man before the rest of the country. It would be funny if this wasn't about a pandemic. Absolutely shocking performance last night from somebody who is supposed to be leading the country through this.

Yep. I just can’t see him surviving, even by this Governments standards, this will run for a while yet. If it reaches PMQs then Starmer will pick the bones out of it no problem. They can’t tell people to self isolate for 7 days, and 14 for the whole household, just to go ahead and do their own thing.
