NO SPOILERS: The new Bond film is eye opening to say the least. Bit of a convoluted plot but overall a very good film with some genuine humour especially involving Q. The ending will split a crowd and I don’t know what to make of it myself. Disappointed in Rami Malek, thought he brought very little to the role. In fact when you look at Craig’s 5 films, I thought Mads Mikkleson was head and shoulders the best “baddie” he encountered. Not convinced by Lea Seydoux’s character either. Same in Spectre. Very difficult to invest in her romance with Bond where she seems to have very little charisma, compared to say Ana de Armas who was brilliant but criminally underused. But the film is well worth seeing in the cinema, the cinematography is superb.
  2. Assuming Glass will be punted by Xmas. Who do we fancy as his replacement?
  3. First time up Ben Nevis yesterday. Glorious weather, if anything it was too hot as it was hard work. I’ve run 2 marathons, couple of dozen half marathons and 7 other Munro’s but that was easily the toughest thing I’ve ever done. I was expecting it to be a slog but hadn’t realised how difficult under foot it is, it’s almost non-stop stones and boulders all the way - it was very tough, but the views were spectacular. It was like Piccadilly Circus at the top! A good 200-300 folk up there and easily more than 1000 on the path yesterday.
  4. So it was a laser pen, a dive, two balls on the pitch, and an own goal that got them into the final. Presumably there’s a Russian linesman on standby for the final.
  5. Judging by Twitter, Leigh Griffiths has been sniffing about a 15 year old lass.
  6. You’d like to think both these sides could beat England but I do think England would probably do better against this Spanish side who are pretty lightweight up front.

    Andy Murray

Off topic. This a tennis thread.
  8. Good goal. Armstrong is playing a blinder.
  9. What has he said tonight that’s bothered you?
  10. I don’t want to see anyone miss the game but how the fuck have two England players ended up self isolating, but none from the Scotland squad - including Clarke who gave Gilmour a bosie after the game?! Doesn’t seem to make sense.
  11. Can’t complain too much about that. Very solid and organised performance.
  12. Not a bad documentary. The Aberdeen bit was predictably short but interesting to see Strachan interviewed, given the rollercoaster relationship the pair of them had. Bit of a regret from Fergie over his treatment of the players after winning the Scottish cup in 1983. But don’t watch this if you’re expecting an in depth review of his time in charge of us. Quite a bit about Leighton when he was dropped for the FA cup final replay - that’s the most I’ve heard discussed on this from both Fergie and Archie Knox. Great to see Fergie in good health though.
  13. Mare of Easttown - best thing on TV.

Total agree about the Mauritanian. Tahar Rahim was superb. Promising Young Woman with Carey Mulligan. I thought it was excellent, quite dark and funny.
  17. For a bit of OTT escapism over 6 great seasons, that final episode of Line of Duty was disappointing dull. Mare of Easttown has been great so far manc. Top work from Kate Winslett!
  18. He should definitely be on some sort of list.
  19. This is a proper fucking popcorn night, heads rolling left right and centre. Fucking hilarious. Money on Perez & Real as last ones standing.
  20. Nice interview. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/mar/26/steve-archibald-barcelona-tottenham-terry-venables-diego-maradona-scotland
  21. Peter Lorimer. By all accounts a great footballer.
  22. Salford have won the EFL trophy. Meanwhile Adam Rooney is now playing for “Solihull Moors”.
  23. Murray Walker. Some character.
  24. Is it really fair to say Stephen Glass “knows” Scottish football? He hasn’t played here since 2010, has never managed here, and appears to have spent a lot of time out of the country since 2012. Having PPV access to games on TV doesn’t necessarily mean he “knows” Scottish football. I don’t get the clamour for an inexperienced manager with a very poor record. Let’s see how he is doing in 5 or 6 years if we’re looking for a manager.
  25. McInnes at 10/1!!! https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/19149725.celtic-manager-latest-odds-slashed-ex-parkhead-midfielder/
