  1. There seems like there's an awful lot of people (not you in particular kelt) who think that Lee Miller is the only player who goes where the money is? Almost every person on who posts on this forum would move jobs for an extra 10 or 20%. I hope that Lee Miller stays at Todders but don't be thinking that he's doing anything different to Maybury or Rio Ferdinand. He'll leave if he gets 200 quid a week more, the same as Rio would for 20 grand. I've no problem with Miller trying to earn as much as he can.
  2. As far as I'm aware, no one has actually come in for Miller or Nicholson? At least Miller has the sense not to completely shut the door and tell everyone he's going (which he probably is). At the end of the day, it's his job and most people don't leave a job until they've got another one. Barry Nic's just maybe minted or has a few irons in the fire on the quiet. Personally, I hope that Miller does stay (but not on any more cash than he's already getting) and that JC can find someone to play off him, a bit like Crawford and Brewster used to do a few years back. (and No, before anyone starts, not for a second am I suggesting Crawford).
  3. Right Stonefish, spill yer guts on the source! I too expect Paul Dixon to be at Todders next season 'cause three season ago, you also new from yer source that Barry Nic was a done deal so, c'mon yi can tell us?
  4. Fit's wrong with Egypt again? Food's good, training's close to the hotel, roads are safe and the flight's go on time, plus the club'll save on the money it normally shell's oot for Jimmy's sun lamp!
  5. Is it just me or can anyone else see Anderson back at the Dandies in the future? Plymouth's a tad further away from the granite city than Sunderland and I cannae imagine it'll go down to well with the wife who apparently didn't want to be too far from Aberdeen in the first place.
  6. Now now KGB, you know he'd been your favourite player since Andreas Mayer left the club!
  7. Hope it's true. I won't be sad to say cheerio to McNamara. I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn out for one of the Edinburgh Outfits next season (an no-doubt play well and score against us!! )
  8. That goes for almost every single professional football player (except perhaps those who are nearing the end of their careers, have made their cash and want to play for a club they support). The thing we as fans all tend to forget is that this is their job. If Maybury (or any other person for that matter) stacked shelves for a living at Tesco and Lidl's are paying twice the money, then he'd be off to get twice the money, the same as any of us would!
  9. I'm shocked at how many people have voted to keep Touzani? The times that I have seen of him in an Aberdeen shirt, I've been mostly (not always) pleased with his performance and I would like to see him get a proper run in the team, so we have some idea of what he can do. Although, I fail to see why JC offered him a new contract. He is clearly not his first choice, more like 3rd or 4th choice. When he's fit, he sits on the bench!!
  10. Tim Krul. Has a shoulder injury at present but would be an excellent signing. He's never going to get a proper game for NUFC as Steve Harper's happy to be a reserve keeper until he retires. Worth an ask surely?
  11. Drewsome, I admire your optimism and can only hope that it'll happen. However, I'd rather see.... Jackie Mac to Seve. Out wide to DeVisscher on the wing. DeVisscher beats one, beats two, gets to the by-line, cuts it back....nice step over at the front post from Lovell.....Mackie from 10 yards out.... GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLL. But, I'm not fussy, I'd settle for either scenario!!
  12. I Disagree. I don't care how good he is or if he's better than Soutar. If he does not want to play for the club, then I'd never give him a game again. Infact, I'd rather give the U14's keeper a game than Someone who does not want to play for the club. If (?) the disagreement with JC was Clangers saying he wanted to leave and play for Rangers, then f*ck him.....get Kelly on the bench as a back up keeper. And that goes for anyone else at the club who doesn't want to play for Aberdeen.
  13. Correct, I was not at the last two games (working). If Diamond has been doing well, then no problem, play him and drop Considine. My point is that I don't like them both playing together - I might be wrong and they may gel together given time but, I think that both of them is a recipe for disaster. As for Touzani, I too am beginning to wonder why he is at the club. The games I've seen him, he has done well at both Centre half (ok, that was a long time ago now) and more recently he was oustanding when he came on at right back on the last day of the season against Rangers. He lacks pace which may be a problem at right back but he is more of a natural footballer and with Hart playing inside him (pace), I think it might work ok. But if I was him, I'd be wondering why I signed a new contract, when Young gets on the bench before me?
  14. 1st game back 4 of Hart Considine Severin Foster with strikers Miller Mackie 2nd game back 4 of Hart Diamond Severin Mair with strikers Lovell Mackie 3rd game back 4 of Hart Considine Diamond McNamara with strikers Mackie Brewster If JC's going to stick with the back four above (3rd game and today against hibs) then that's a start, from a consistency point of view but, I don't like the idea of Diamond and Considine together. I think it's a only a matter of time before one or both starts giving away crazy fouls in crazy positions. I'd actually like to see: Back four - Touzani/Hart/Considine/McNamara. Midfield - We have various options and I think that's where JC should be tinkering (and not the defence or attack!). Forwards - Mackie and Lovell (for a long spell together and see how they do)
  15. Difficult to replace. Another younger player of the 'Brewster' mould is what most teams want and comes at a price. I'd rather see JC give Mackie and Lovell a good run in the team together and use Maguire and Miller as back up, with clark, smith and DeVisscher getting to the by-line and crossing balls in - something that clark and smith seem to opt out of doing. I'd also rather see money spent on a new keeper and get Clangers punted.
  16. Now that Russell's gone, then I guess he's our best player!?! They definitely weren't drinking when we were there although they may have had a few before hand. Infact, they were both a good laugh and did well to put up with everyone, especially when we kept questioning McCoist about how he backed into Miller to earn 'that' penalty!
  17. I meant to put this on as a topic closer to the time but forgot: The night before the Dons v Gers match (Last game of the season), I was in the bar in an Aberdeen hotel after a wedding. The Rangers team were staying the night in the hotel and in the bar, at 00:30 were McCoist and McDowell (not drinking I'd like to add). Anyway, we (me and three mates - all dandies) took on McCoist and McDowell at a Question of sport. The conversation deviated from time to time and one of the questions was who they thought was our best player - Predictably Russell Anderson was the response. Then McDowell says, "your second best player's not playing tomorrow".....puzzled for a second and my mind not quite 100% due my desire to prop up the bar all day.....I thought and I thought - Chris Clark!! What do you guys think about that then? I'd have thought Seve any day but both McCoist and McDowell really rated Clark and were glad he wasn't playing. Just for the record and after over an hour of questions back and forth, they had to get the last question right to win: Who scored fastest Champions league hatrick - and they couldn't get it - It was MIKE NEWELL.
  18. he's just a bog standard spl goalie Unfortunately, so is Jamie Langfield (even though JC will try to say differently). I don't think we can expect anything better at pittodrie at the moment. If we finish 3rd again, get to a cup final and perhaps make the group stage of the Uefa cup, then maybe we can attract a better class of goal keeper.
  19. Lovell and Mackie should start every game. For me Lovell is the most natural striker and would really benefit from Clark/Smith/DeVisscher getting to the by-line and pulling the ball back acorss the goals. Perhaps Lee Millar would be more effective too if he had this type of service but for me, he is too lazy, to quick at going to ground and I reckon Brewster could out-sprint him. Mackie may not be naturally talented but he shows heart, he's not lazy and he wants to play for the club (plus he's been top scorer 2 out of last 3 seasons). Brewster as a supersub for last 20 mins - He again would benfit from our 'wingers' beating their man on the outside and crossing the ball into the box.....something that they rarely do.
  20. It's not just that. Going to football and especially taking a family to football is an expensive hobby (without including the beer). By the time you've paid petrol/buses to and from the game, programmes, half time pies and coke's for the kids plus the tickets.....it's not cheap. Some people would rather spend the money on other things that they feel are 'value for money'. With the cost of houses and cost of living in Aberdeen, some people just cannot afford it. They can however afford a couple of games a season - hence they come out for the more attractive games, like the huns at the end of last season. Even if we were winning cup and challenging for the league title, I reckon we'd still only get an average crowd of about 14,500.
  21. To the Red Ultras: 10 out of 10 for your efforts at 'todders over the years! It certainly makes a huge difference
  22. Holy sh*t Drewsome, any tops you've forgotten there. Aberdeen, The Broch, Nairn, Canada - Don't you know where your home is?
  23. Can't see how we have one dimensional players at the back?!? IMO, they're all different: Hart - pace and usually reads the game well. Touzani - no pace but good positioning and more of a natural ball player. Considine - Height and strength and I think in time, he'll show that he can pass a ball too. Sometimes doesn't read the game well (but think it'll come with time). Diamond - May not be as reliable as Russ and gets caught out of position a bit but has heart and is willing to get wired in. McNamara - reads the game very well and has a wealth of experience. is a little light weight. Byrne - Not quick, not a ball player but will never shirk a chanllenge (sometimes he probably should!) Never really seen Mair play so can't comment. I think in time, the defence will be ok. To me, JC biggest problem is what formation to play and who to play as his 'first' choice defenders. We all want a dedicated right back and dedicated left back and Russell back but for what we actually have I think there's a good enough variety there to make the defence work.
  24. FFS, what went wrong? I honestly thought we'd go down there today and give them a good pasting! :hammer: Fantastic start to night shift. Did we at least play well? Did anyone stand out?
