  1. When I read the thread title I also thought, 'We already fucking well are!'
  2. I cannot believe you guys merde up all those puns off the top of your heads. What a bunch of têtes!
  3. I haven't voted, because I really don't have a clue how we will get on in these games. I'm tempted by pre-season optimism to go for 10 or even 11, but post-(last)season reality has me worried it could be as few as 4 or 5... I can't actually afford to go to games at the moment (or for another few seasons, due to supporting the missus through Uni) and I am similarly torn about that... part of me (my heart) is gutted and missing the bounce, but another part (my brain) would rather remove my fingernails with a pair of rusty pliers than pay 20-odd quid (30 or 40-odd if Mrs Stubo comes along) to watch the pish we have played the last couple of seasons... Surely it's about time we had a 'nae too bad' season and played a bit of fitba'?!?!? Fuck it, I'm voting for 12! COYR!!
  4. He is finding his level. He looked really promising for a couple of seasons, then stalled and has gone backwards recently. Waste.
  5. Happy with this. He did seem a touch 'tackle-shy' in his first stint with us, but often put defenders on the back foot, something we didn't do much of last season.
  6. I don't know the Manuel enough to comment... In fact, I know nothing! For any youngsters who have somehow missed this reference:
  7. Bets on when he ends up at Kilmarnock/ICT/St Johnstone/AN Other shitey SPL club; one season from now or two?
  8. Has he played much this past season? As far as my incompetent interweb research goes, he appears to have only played a couple of games. Is he just another potential crock taking up a wage? Another Velicka or Jackie Mcnamara or [insert name of one of dozens of past glass-legged players here]?
  9. I am sure I heard him say something about Brown slagging off players 'behind their backs' or somesuch? He went on to say something along the lines of 'god knows what he is saying about this lot then'?! He is a tool, whatever the truth of his comments. One of the least entertaining pundits I have ever heard. BTW - get Zander so called 'Diamond' to fuck. What a useless big streak of piss he has turned out to be. If Hearts sign him I will be amazed.
  10. Happy with this. 2 years seems to be about the maximum that any player or club is willing to commit to these days. Football has become a game of short-termism. Moves are what make players, agents and clubs (occasionally) money. Not too fussy about Maguire; he thinks he is a lot better than he is. Flatters to deceive in my opinion. We still need to find that elusive 20-goal-a-season guy. Vernon might do it with better supply...
  11. An interesting range of opinions on here. It had never occured to me (although I'm not sure why not) that most Dons fans under 30 or so already see Aberdeen as a 'mid-table team' and were resigned to that when they made the decision to support them! I guess folk my age were spoiled. I started to take an active interest in football just as Aberdeen were starting to win leagues, cups and eventually the old CWC and Supercup. Beating (even humiliating at times) the OF was a common occurence. As a kid I just assumed that it would always be that way! Having calmed down a bit since the semi, I myself am also resigned. Resigned to slowly but surely starting to believe again that the Dons can be a force once more. I suppose I'll only end up disappointed come next April, but, as Captain Sensible once said, 'if you don't have a dream, how you gonna to have a dream come true'?
  12. Sorry to be such a pessimist, but we have heard this at the end of almost every season for about 20 years! Will believe it when I see it!
  13. After supporting the Dons through thick and (mostly) thin for more than 3 decades, I've had enough. Truth be told, I had given up by the end of last season and have refused to part with a single penny to watch the joke that is Scottish fitba' - especially Aberdeen - this season, having only dragged my disallusioned ass to a mere handful of games last season. Despite the horrors of the 1990s, I reckon we have actually hit a new low and I can't see any reason for genuine optimism that anything is going to change. At least back then it was possible to convince ourselves that we were still worth watching and might do 'something' 'someday'. Today yet another season is over (provided Hamilton don't go on a hell of a run) and another damp squib has failed to ignite. Again Dons fans are left with only blind faith to cling to. I don't do blind faith, unfortunately. 'There's always next season' we keep telling ourselves, and then season after season unrolls with a dread sense of deja vu. Can anyone out there honestly give me one sign that I wouldn't be as well supporting St Johnstone, St Mirren, ICT or the like?! I'm a bit disappointed in today's performance and result, in case you hadn't cottoned on! Is there any point any more! EDIT: Just to be clear: I'll always support the Dons, I just can't be bothered caring so much any more
  14. I'll concede the point about melodrama, but as someone who has supported Aberdeen since the early 80s, our current situation certainly feels like a death! We used to at least have the consolation of being somehow 'better' than the dross in the SPL, but even those days seem to have gone. I wouldn't go expecting very much changing next season, no matter who our manager is, unfortunately. Fergie himself would struggle to do as well even as Calderwood did in his time here... Ironically Tangoman may end up being remembered as one of our most successful managers, despite winning fuck all! Anyway, I am depressing myself now!! Hope to fuck I am made to look really really silly come next Sunday. Despite everything, COYR!
  15. I live in Glasgow and have absolutely no intention of going anywhere near this match. Fed up of supporting the pish we have been putting on the pitch for the last 20 years! QoS was the last straw for me and I haven't seen anything since to engender any genuine optimism or enthusiasm. I think our club is dying. Finishing 2nd bottom (as looks increasingly likely) in a league that includes St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, ICT and St Mirren would be a fucking joke, if it wasn't a tragedy. We will lose this semi comfortably. The players and management will make all the right noises in the days leading up to it, as ususal, and then we'll put in our usual lacklustre, confused performance. Any Aberdeen-based or other decent-distance-travelling Dons fans getting up at the crack of dawn to come and see this are in need of psychiatric care IMHO!
  16. BBC video of incident: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/9445218.stm
  17. I only heard the commentary, but we sounded absolutely gash and got exactly what we deserved... Some weird formation and substitution decisions from CB, I felt. Maguire seemed to be giving a petulant, skill-free performance but he lasted the full 90, while Aluko sounded (almost) half-decent but got hooked?! Fuck I'm getting tired of us being totally pish! Too many players that just aren't good enough and who don't work hard enough to make up for their obvious deficiencies.
  18. I wouldn't shed any tears if he did go. He is both a pussy and and an asshole... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tptMkldV24&feature=related What we need in central defence is a dick!
  19. Maguire for me. Best of a fairly poor bunch.
  20. I wasn't there, but, from what I saw online, no support was deserved. 3-0 down after 15 minutes and you want people to get behind the team?!?!? There's supporting your team and there's blind faith. I have never been a fan of having blind faith in anything or anyone. The team got exactly (or, by some accounts, more than) what they deserved from the support. If only the support could say the same thing occasionaly!
  21. Not going to this (a combination of financial considerations, low expectations and the fact that going anywhere near Hampden brings on crippling QoS flashbacks), but must admit the excitement is beginning to build! Hope it's a great day out for you lads and lassies that are keeping the faith! COYR GIRFUT!!!
  22. Wasn't convinced at first, but if he's scoring, he's obviously good enough! Get in there!
