  1. It’s a good point Rico. Goodwin has been so gung ho in his approach in an attempt to stamp his mark on the club that you almost feel his position will be getting questioned by some fans shortly which is ridiculous for the short time he has been in charge. We really just need to survive this season and hit the reset button as it were. The odds of St Johnstone getting out of that play off spot are still against them but it’s not impossible.
  2. St Johnstone just equalised
  3. Got to get younger players in the door. Someone said the other day we have practically the oldest squad in the league. This season we have recruited far too many players who are either past their peak or pushing 30 and have never reached a peak in the first place. We need to get back to bringing in hungry players in their early 20s like we did with McLean, Christie and the like, guys who are striving to move up the ladder.
  4. Cormack is a clown. Said before Milne left that you have to be careful what you wish for. I didn't get the hatred for Milne at all, he ran the club properly and the gripe I heard from most people was that he did not put enough money into the club, which was entirely his own prerogative. Yes, he might have made a few bad decisions along the way which all chairman do but I genuinely believe he did what he thought was in the best interests of the club. Now we have an owner who is more interested in courting his own PR that getting on with the day job. He seems to be more concerned with how many good comments he can get on twitter than anything else. There are press leaks all over the place and he has set the club back several years with the stupid way he got rid of McInnes. Nothing that has followed since makes me think next season will be any better.
  5. That would be a terrible move for Ramsay in my opinion. He wouldn't have a hope in hell of breaking through into that team and could end up lost to the game. A bit like when Danny Wilson signed for them from Rangers, it did more harm to his career by moving. Patterson has shown how difficult it is to get a game in the premier league with Everton. I hope for his sake and ours that he moves to somewhere like McKenna did at Notts Forest first then on to bigger and better things. It would likely make it much more lucrative for us as well, then he could move on to Man Utd for £40M 18 months later!
  6. Where you getting that from BigAl, is there a rumour doing the rounds? Their right back looks locked in for the next 10-15 years, probably the hardest position to get into in that team. And he’s a scouser so unlikely to want away.
  7. What a brutal game this is. After 10 years in charge Dyche gets booted out the minute things go a little bit pear shaped. You would have thought he would have at least earned a crack at trying to get them out of the bottom three with all he has done for that club. Unless there has been a huge bust up behind the scenes then it is poor stuff from Burnley. Sad thing is, Dyche was being touted for bigger jobs in the last few years and people have such short memories that the opportunity to manage a bigger team may have now passed him by. More likely that he will turn up at a mid Championship team next season.
  8. Sorry to see Considine go. We have lost so much invaluable experience these last 12 months with Logan, McGinn, Brown and Considine going. On wee toon red's comment above - has anyone actually come out and said any of these players are not getting new contracts (Considine aside) or is everyone getting a little bit excited about rumours? Also, where is the idea that Ramirez and Ferguson will be sold coming from, haven't heard anyone at the club say that?
  9. ………if we lose and St Johnstone win
  10. Opta could be an option since Dave likes his data
  11. I am all for the hosts not having to qualify because a host nation not being in their own tournament would be a bit crap but why on earth are Qatar a top seed, makes a mockery of the whole draw. Also increases the possibility of one of the top nations going out early with Holland and Germany both being in pot 2 when one of them could/should be in pot 1.
  12. Watched #CancelKarenDunbar last night. Oh my god, almost impossible to make comedy now without offending someone it seems. Some folk really need to lighten up and see comedy for what it is.
  13. Just getting the Austria scarf out ready for tonight. Would not want us to be facing Bale, Ramsey and co in Cardiff if we make it to the play off final.
  14. One game between 6th March and 1st April.
  15. Slightly odd thing to say maybe but apart from his goals he gives very little to the team. Doesn't hold the ball up particularly well, no great pace, not really a physical presence yet without his goals we would be in real trouble. I tend to think if you are playing up front on your own you need to put yourself about a bit, like thon thug (the budget Bergkamp) that plays for Motherwell.
  16. I’d take a punt on Alan Forrest at Livi. He’s on a free in the summer and looked decent whenever I’ve seen them play this season. Certainly an upgrade on McLennan.
  17. Sorted that one for you SeaBass
  18. Seen a couple of Southampton games recently and Stuart Armstrong has hit a real purple patch, looking like a proper player. Hope he gets a chance for the national team.
  19. Loving the positive vibe Panda min and sincerely hope we can be challenging for Europe. I’ll whisper this but part of me is wondering whether we should actually be preying for a St Mirren win tonight. If Dundee win we are two points closer to a relegation play off. Strange old season this one.
  20. Disappointed to hear about this. We have lost a lot of experience in the last few months with Logan, McGinn and now Brown leaving. Other than Hayes, Lewis and Considine, we are struggling for proper senior players. In theory, Barron should have been playing alongside Brown to learn his trade instead of just replacing him. We also have very few players in the squad and the backroom team who have actually won anything and just having Brown there to try to instil that winning mentality/habit would have been useful.
  21. Two striking things about that line up. One, it’s back to the old triangular pegs, hexagonal holes with Hayes and Ojo at full back when we have MacKenzie and Ramsay on the bench. Peculiar. Two, seems like only a few months back we had about a million central midfield players, now we are having to play a young inexperienced loon in there at Ibrox. Horrible feeling about this one. First time in a while I have looked at our team sheet and realised why we are so far down the league. Hoping for a backs to the wall 0-0.
  22. Not arguing there BigAl but the penalty we got last night was embarrassing. Ferguson should be cringing watching that back. Blatant dive. Don’t want to be seeing our players doing that stuff no matter how badly we need a goal.
  23. Looking like a really intriguing relegation battle down there. I suspect Norwich have too much to do but from Woy’s Watford right up to Newcastle in 14th it could be any two from those. Amazing how teams that have been rotten all season suddenly start winning just as the fat lady is limbering up. Leeds goal difference is shocking.
  24. Every club has a bad spell from time to time. It's life as a fitba fan. We have just come off a spell where we qualified for Europe seven years in a row. Do you think Rangers fans enjoyed the third division or Man City fans liked having to be in a play off with Gillingham? If you want to see your team win 8-0 every week and cannot accept defeats just buy a Bayern Munich shirt and stop watching the Dons.
  25. Not saying that fourth should not be the target Panda but the word expectation for me is a bit strong. We have been rubbish all season with radio Scotland on Saturday saying had we lost to Motherwell it would have been the worst points total to date since back in the Steve Paterson era. Heard someone say the other day that we should as a minimum, be finishing third in the league and winning the odd cup. I mean we can all dream but if you put on the sensible hat for a second that is really the maximum a Dons manager can achieve, not the minimum expectation. It would take something pretty spectacular for us to ever finish higher than third and that is not being defeatist, it is being realistic of where things are at in our league with the gulf in finance between us and the top two. I don't buy that we are in transition at all. Most of these players have been there since August and have played over 30 games together this season. Whether they are good enough players is a whole different argument.
