  1. I've always thought one of the best things about the Aberdeen support, certainly the away support, is that it's from all over the place. Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh, Dundee - but all supporting a team miles from home because fuck the old firm, we'll support the Dons. Be a shame if there's a divide coming because of that. Last thing we need is to start putting fans off from going.
  2. Saw a video of the goal from the crowd, where everyone else seemed to be filming it too. Not only that, they were all sitting as the penalty was taken - who sits at a penalty? Strange support yesterday. Was Burnley really only 10 days ago, seems like a lifetime already.
  3. Not great but deserved the three points. Sometimes we as fans underestimate how tough it is to win away from home in the Premiership. Look at how many Hibs & Hearts have shipped in recent seasons, Rangers too. Three points on the road is always a good result. GMS and Devlin were excellent. Bear in mind that's not our strongest team we've got out at the moment. Logan or Hoban at right back would be good. Gleeson still settling in - I'd like to see us try Gleeson/Ball as a partnership with Shinnie at LB. Forrester should get a bit more game time, could do with more creativity. And it doesn't need to be said really we need a new striker and fast.
  4. Logan still suspended. McKenna out. Guessing Hoban will be back though? If there's no new signings before Saturday, I'd go with... Lewis Hoban Devlin Considine Shinnie Ball Gleeson McGinn Ferguson Mackay-Steven Cosgrove
  5. Don't worry, the goodwill will stop when they make a derisory bid for McKenna.
  6. Aye, Burnley's ground was murder getting away from in traffic. Roll on Kingsord and having a stadium next to a bypass.
  7. On Thursday everyone loved the cricket ground right next to the stadium. That's essentially what Aberdeen want with the fanzone outside the stadium. Obviously, there's a different between a nice day in August and a freezing cold day in December, but likely that's more what Cormack meant by the atmosphere generated by tailgating, rather than people actually firing up BBQ's in the car park.
  8. Weren't great today, but neither were Rangers. They're getting the plaudits because they had 10 men, but all I saw was they were solid defensively while we lack a real threat up front. But bear in mind we had a fair few players out and had to switch tactics a few times. We'll improve over the season. As for Gerrard's comments. I'm glad he said them. Stuff like that always bite you on the arse. Our team will hopefully use those comments to motivate them.
  9. To be fair, I was told well over a week ago Celtic were interested in McKenna so it's not like they've started the rumour.
  10. I didn't start the thread, but which thread should the OP have put it in? Or is he not allowed to criticise? It's a football forum, it can't all be positive. Him coming off the bench was irrelevant to how he performed. The first header he went for, he barely bothered jumping. Minutes later he made another half arsed attempt at winning the ball. He's been on the bench, chomping to get in, then barely tries a leg when he gets his chance. Like I said in my last post, his attitude is to try and win free-kicks and pens rather than take a dig at goal. I've never seen a player throw his arms up in the air as much as he does when the ball isn't laid perfectly to him. He's been a waste of a shirt in both legs. He doesn't appear to have the hunger anymore.
  11. Some of the new chants last night were spot on. The Sam Cosgrove had the place bouncing pre-match. The new Joe Lewis one was good too, though only heard it sung at the cricket ground. Some others too. Hopefully they don't die out too soon. Was a brilliant atmosphere last night.
  12. Don't think playing 30 minutes more than Rangers did on Thursday is going to make much difference to us on Sunday. McInnes can still make plenty of changes anyway if he wants, though I think the line-up won't be too far away from last night. Logan suspended for this? So Hoban at right back maybe? Ferguson was used as a secondary striker last night which worked well. With the lack of a goal scorer at the moment I'd stick with that. McInnes will likely put Ball-Shinnie in midfield, but would like to see Gleeson start with Shinnie playing left-back. Gleeson's lack of game time doesn't help, but would freshen it up a little after Thursday. I'd go with Lewis Hoban Devlin McKenna Shinnie Ball Gleeson McGinn Ferguson Mackay-Steven Cosgrove Though McGinn limped off last night so wouldn't be surprised if Wright started.
  13. Right, so you don't think he's good enough for Aberdeen, but have posted twice criticising people for saying he's not good enough? He's not good enough. Should be sent on loan to a St Mirren or Dundee where he can play every week and maybe he comes back to us as a better player, but personally I don't think it's his fitness or confidence that's the problem, more his attitude. His determination to win the ball or take a shot on is always half-hearted. More interested in trying to win free kicks.
  14. Like I said, you're being offended for no reason. Absolutely no problem with what he said. They won the tie, their fans now get a trip to Turkey, they've every right to be excited about it as it could be another 50 years before they're in Europe again.
  15. No, he was simply saying now they get to go abroad. He said absolutely nothing wrong. That's just being offended for the sake of it.
  16. Are you basing it on one game - one where it was their first competitive game of the season and they've yet to make any significant signings? I don't think we saw Burnley at anywhere near their best. Based on their performances last season, they'd have won the Scottish league. Maybe Celtic would have ran them close, but Celtic were not the standard of the top 10 of the EPL last season. Don't forget they got outclassed by Zenit who would struggle to be top 10 in England.
  17. Come on rocket. Cheer up. It's summer, there's European fitba at Pittodrie in three days, and surely a Scottish nationalist like yourself should be chomping at the bit to put an English team on their arse.
  18. They're not that good, and we're getting them in the middle of pre-season (they started later than us which they'll pay for on Thursday).
  19. Worth noting that the Turkish season doesn't start until 10 August, and this will be their first competitive games of the season. They're tough, they'll be favourites, but it's doable. Some effort if we reach the play-off round having knocked out the 7th best team in England and 3rd best in Turkey. That's when we'll finally get lucky in the draw and lose the tie.
  20. But that's not Michael Stewart's fault.
  21. First time I've ever seen an English fan complain UEFA are making it harder for their clubs!
  22. Yeh, I agree with having to have loyalty points, but when it's three days before a game and 2,000 are left, they should let those on 0 points buy one. They've got their name and address so not exactly a security risk.
  23. He was asked about Rangers. He answered the question by saying Moult would be an improvement up front for them. What's so upsetting about that?
  24. 2100 tickets left. Think we'll shift at least the majority of that by Thursday.
