Nice one Gents. Wasn't sure I'd get some responses, so delighted to see I have. Rocket, I also hated History, and School in general to be honest. But there's just stuff I have learned as I have gotten older that I certainly wasn't taught, for example, my School had nothing on Scottish History, which looking back, annoys me, Scottish History should absolutely be taught at School. Same with Native American's, growing up, we're told Cowboys were good guys etc.. and Native American's were savage murderers, they maybe so, but they're only doing so protecting themselves from the equally if not more brutal, Americans. Never got the opportunity to ask my Grandparents about the War/Wars, but I also love hearing stories from other elderly people on the subject, and my Old Man found a Bren Light Machine Gun after the 2nd World War ended, he was a kid obviously, playing in the burn and he found it buried in some stones, just partially sticking out. There is also 2 Plane crash sites very near to where I live, story has it that one of the Pilot's, a German soldier, survived his crash and went into the local town to seek help. Unfortunately people over the years couldn't help themselves and have wrecked and stripped a lot of the planes wreckage's, but there's still some of them there.

Tansey contracted until 2020 I still say he'll come back all guns blazing and cement himself as the first name on the team sheet

If we carry on from the 2nd half against St Johnstone, we'll win comfortably. Motherwell will fancy their chances so we need to win the battle first, then play the game we're capable of. I really hope we go with a different Striker, for all his flaws, Cosgrove certainly caused problems when he came on at the weekend and actually was one of the better performers, so I'd even go with him ahead of May if Anderson isn't getting the nod. To be honest, Anderson never really did himself any favours when he came on against St Johnstone, but I'd still play him ahead of May. Is Devlin back? Not sure how many games a straight red gets banned for. Lewis Logan Devlin McKenna Lowe Gleeson Shinnie McGinn Ferguson ( If Fit ) GMS Cosgrove ( Or Anderson ) 1-1 FT
-
He can clearly see a pass, but too difficult to judge given it was only 45 minutes.

1st half was an abject display, the 2nd half was a lot more like us, a mixture of poor decision making and poor final passes let us down. I still can't work out what type of Striker May is, is he being neglected by McInnes or is he just not up to it, given his previous injuries, which of course have an affect on players. Thought Gleeson was neat & tidy again & probably should have stayed on? McGinn had flashes as did GMS, McKenna was good considering it was his first game back since the opening game. Shinnie did what he almost always does, tried to drive us on. Thought Lewis should have came for their cross at their goal, shouldn't concede from a header inside the 6 yard box in my opinion, but saved well from Alston in 2nd half. Again, overall feeling is probably underwhelming. St Johnstone have now only lost 1 out of last 11, so their clearly doing well, whereas, for some bizarre reason, we look like we're regressing considering how well we did against Burnley. Domestically, only the Cup Game against a clearly struggling St Mirren has been anywhere near acceptable, the rest has been poor for me.

Are you at the game Len, or do you have a Stream? Been trying relentlessly for 10 minutes now, no such luck.

Going to try this thread, and see where it takes us, probably nowhere But nonetheless, I was hoping we could all contribute to this thread by posting genuine historical facts or occurrences that you maybe weren't aware of until recently etc... I'll start us off, had no idea that America's declaration of Independence had so many signatures from individuals from Scotland or Scottish descent! I appreciate it may not interest any of your good selves, but fucking fascinated me. https://www.electricscotland.com/history/descendants/chap5.htm Dr. John Witherspoon in particular, caught my attention. He became a Minister in Beith, Ayrshire, which is ridiculously close to where I live, and then he even has history in Aberdeen itself! Dr. John Witherspoon, one of the leaders in the movement for independence and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, was born in the parish of Yester, February 5, 1722. He studied at the University of Edinburgh, and at the age of twenty-one was licensed to preach. He shortly afterwards became minister of Beith in Ayrshire, and held that charge for twelve years. He then accepted a call to Paisley, and remained there until 1768. His position in Scotland was a prominent one and Aberdeen University marked its appreciation of his scholarship by conferring on him the degree of D.D. in 1764.

Shame Ferguson misses out. But at the same time, Forrester now has an opportunity to cement his place. Six left footed players in the starting 11 ( As I think Forrester is naturally Left Footed ) must be some sort of record? Anyway, that 11 has enough about it to be fairly solid defensively but also dangerous offensively, sincerely hope Stevie May proves me wrong in the long run, but can see him being the weak link today ( Score a hat trick and shut me up Stevie )
-
Or give the young lad Anderson an opportunity from the start given that he's in form, albeit in the Under 21's, but he's still scoring and getting himself into good positions and generally causing problems. It never did McKenna any harm, despite his very underwhelming stint at Ayr United on loan.
-
I think Wright is still injured also, is he not? Regarding May, I have made my feelings known, and strongly, he isn't up to the standard required, as his numerous appearances have shown us ( I must reiterate, that's just my opinion ) I would even start Cosgrove ahead of him, purely because he is capable of holding the ball up & winning headers. You might find McInnes will plump for Cosgrove in this type of fixture. Anyway, when's midfield maestro Tansey back? We're missing him terribly EDIT - Fuck knows why it's just quoted you BB, I was trying to include both yourself & Rico.

Good luck to the lad. -
Kilmarnock and manager Steve Clarke have been charged by the Scottish FA regarding comments made criticising the governing body's disciplinary process after Gary Dicker lost his red-card appeal. More to follow. Wow. This is what happens when you speak the truth. Can we expect McInnes to now face the same process? Perplexing.

Be interesting to see which back 4 or 3 we go with, McInnes said in his interview on RedTV yesterday that McKenna began full training yesterday, hopefully that will be enough time to get him up to speed for this game. If not I reckon we will see a back 4 of - Logan Ball Considine Lowe - obviously due to current squad circumstances. Surprising stat that St Johnstone have only lost once in their last 10 games, which was to Kilmarnock. Usually a difficult fixture and not much between the teams, although I hope we'll be itching to put on a show and that in turn, should prove too much for St Johnstone. St Johnstone 1 vs 2 Aberdeen ( GMS, Anderson )

Had no idea Paterson had been moved in to Midfield, never saw that coming to be honest, he was a very good RB in my opinion. Fraser is a wide midfielder, but I noticed he was playing RWB against Belgium, we aren't going to get the most out of him, playing there. O'Donnell isn't a bad defender, i'd have him in a heartbeat if Logan wasn't here, he's very consistent and has a decent delivery. My general point was, we shouldn't be clamouring to play both in the same 11, it won't work, they are both natural LB's & I would strongly disagree with you tlg1903, from a purely neutral standpoint, Robertson is far superior to Tierney, but that's not saying Tierney isn't a good player, he clearly is, my opinion is that Robertson is far better. McGregor O'Donnell Souttar Mulgrew Robertson MacDonald McGinn Fraser Armstrong MacGregor Russell I think that could work, MacDonald looked cumbersome, but if he's just protecting the back 4 alongside an energetic player, he'd be useful, he's a big lad and can certainly pass the ball.
-
Nobody else of the opinion that it's fucking pathetic to see us clamouring to fit Robertson & Tierney into the 11? I appreciate both are very good Left Back's, but Robertson is the superior one, by far. Callum Paterson & Stephen O'Donnell are 2 good enough Right Back's, neither should be forced out of the 11 just to play Tierney at RB, and we shouldn't be adopting a formation we don't suit or can't play in just to accommodate Tierney, boils my piss, can't understand it. Just my opinion and general feeling on the matter.

St Mirren announce Oran Kearney as their new manager, giving him a 3 year contract. He's the son in law of Kenny Shiels who I'm sure you're all familiar with. Bit of a gamble this, Stubbs was a sensible choice, he had experience in this league, albeit it never worked out ( in the very short time he got ) In saying that, perhaps Kearney will do a great job, time will tell.

------------Lewis------------ ---Devlin---Hoban---McKenna--- GMS--Gleeson--Ferguson--Shinnie--Lowe Wilson-----Anderson/Cosgrove Harsh on Logan, McGinn & Considine, who have served the club well, but if McInnes were to go for a 3-5-2, that's the players I'd like to see within it. Would also give us a pretty good bench with the likes of Shay, McGinn, Ball & Andy etc....
-
Not sure about the 3-5-2 TC. McInnes has been very consistent with his 4-2-3-1 and to some degree, it's worked well for him, I wouldn't have a problem with him trying something else though. We certainly have the personnel to adopt the 3-5-2

But realistically, we still put enough crosses into the box for the Striker to get on the end of. May has had plenty of opportunities now, he's not up to it, it hasn't worked, I hoped it would have. Regarding the pinning our hopes on Anderson, we are not doing that, we are seeing that May is not capable ( He's had plenty game time ) and Cosgrove is really rough around the edges, he could probably do with a loan to guarantee him game time and opportunities. Anderson is full of confidence, he is scoring for fun in the reserves and making more of a nuisance of himself in his brief appearances than May is in almost a full game. How will we know if Anderson is ready if he barely gets an opportunity? Shankland was the very same, he got 3-4 minute cameo appearances and we released him, as I have said before, perhaps he's found his level at Ayr United, or perhaps we missed a trick, we will never know because we didn't give him the chance. Scott McKenna is now being touted for a multi million pound move etc... and he only got an opportunity because our defence was pish at the time, what's the difference between our defence being pish and our Striker being pish? Anderson deserves an opportunity to start a handful of games until Wilson is fully fit at least. EDIT TO ADD - Anderson got one chance vs Rangers and took it, he finished confidently and clinically, hit the bar against Dundee and never really got any chances against Kilmarnock. May had a good opportunity against Killie and sclaffed it pathetically wide, he did all the right things in getting the chance, but he was never convinced himself he was scoring, these things make the difference, had May had the chance in the exact same place Anderson did against Rangers, I would be absolutely confident he would have ballooned it or looked for a pass instead of having the confidence to take it on himself. Fine margins and all that.
-
If we are all being blunt, Stevie May doesn't exactly contribute much, does he, and again, being blunt, Anderson probably couldn't do any less than May does over 90 minutes. Difference is, Anderson is currently full of confidence, and scoring goals, May is neither.
-
Club confirm they are appealing the red card, thank fuck. Surely this will be overturned? Surely.
-
My opinion on May is based on what we've seen since he arrived. He's had plenty of minutes and failed in the grand scheme of things, to produce. Anderson in his brief appearances, rescued a point against them, was unlucky not to add to that against Dundee and generally looks lively. Can't guarantee it obviously, but I reckon if he'd had the same amount of game time as May this season, he'd have found the back of the net more. Another I'd be inclined to give more game time to is Connor McLennan, based on what I have seen in the under's, he's been as effective as Anderson, has the build, and is pacey, he'll be a good player, I am confident of that.

Have to say, I think that both goals, in particular the 2nd one, were fucking shambolic. Lewis, in my opinion, could have done a bit better, it wasn't that venomous or curling, he appeared to get down to it rather slowly. As for Stewart's goal, what in the actual fuck, he collects it in the D in their half, turns & runs at Considine, who looked to dive in, then went beyond Ball like he wasn't even there. Atrocious goal to concede from our point of view, but credit to Stewart, from his point of view it's a pretty good goal. Brophy also caused all sorts of problems & Stevie May, what can you say, he controlled Logan's ball perfectly, but the finish was that of a man who has literally zero self confidence. He needs to be dropped and we must give a young, confident striker, who's scoring goals, doesn't matter what level they're at, he's still scoring goals, the opportunity. As I said in a separate thread, we need Wilson to be good, or we're in for a rather underwhelming season. Also, on what planet does the referee give a red card for that, looked to me like Brophy threw himself to the ground. I wouldn't even say it was a foul & I will be fucking furious if we don't appeal that.
