Season 2019/2020 Rebuilding

Alan Nixon on Twitter, if you know him on Social Media, you'll know he's normally bang on the money, he's a Journalist, albeit for The Sun, but he's still normally spot on. ABERDEEN. Looking into a return for Josh Magennis. Could be snatched from BOLTON. By all accounts, Magennis was a bit raw when he left us, but I think he's been relatively okay in the Championship & League 1 in England since. But again, for me, slams of a sheer lack of imagination, given there is a potential return for Shaughnessy as well. Not for one second suggesting they're not good enough, but they were let go because McInnes didn't fancy them initially, if I remember correctly? Fits the bill for a McInnes player though, not lazy, can play in a few positions and must be within our budget. -

Good shout. Heckingbottom plays 2 Strikers, or at least he has done since taking over at Hibs, Kamberi & McNulty, and I have watched them on BT Sport at least 3 times, they play Football, they don't punt it long and they don't panic in possession, they get the ball in to their Strikers from the ground and it looks good on the eye and they have had success from it. No idea if that's a sustainable style but for the moment, they're doing well. Cosgrove is probably more comfortable when the ball is played to him on the ground, he is constantly fighting a losing battle with the style of Football we're playing at the moment. But McNulty would be a perfect partner for him, based on what I have seen, and I very much agree that it would be an excellent piece of business. -

There's no doubt that this is his biggest test, signing wise, so far, and whilst the likes of Hearts & Motherwell are preparing for next season having added a few pre-contracts, there's nothing to suggest that we haven't tried to either. We lost out on Jordan Jones this time last year I believe, McInnes has openly admitted that now, we lost out on some Barcelona " B " Striker a year or two ago as well, McInnes having also admitted that, Jason Scotland another one and I am pretty sure there will be more. The likes of Djoum & Shaughnessy are steady SPFL players, nothing more, nothing less, they at least know the league, know the " expectation " and they are within our wage budget. But even if they did sign, we're still a fair chunk of players missing to piece together that jigsaw. We absolutely must sign a permanent Left Back, in the mould of Lowe, as well as a creative midfielder ( a Maddison or a McLean ) within our means of course, because that position has affected us a lot this season. -
Well, that was fucking abysmal. I appreciate we have injuries, but there was absolutely no intent to win the game of football out there today. We sat back for the entire game, had 1 deflected effort on target and the scoreline would have been 4/5-0 had it not been for a few impressive saves from Lewis, in particular, the first 1 vs 1 Defoe had, that was a truly tremendous save. The usual suspects were non-existent, our game plan, I think I have worked it out, we play for set pieces and hope we score from them. Joe Lewis the only player to get pass marks, the rest were fucking shite, I want to know what has happened to Devlin, was a good addition, started not too badly either, but went downhill for the guy at an alarming rate. Maybe just needs another pre-season in him.

Greg Stewart has apparently agreed to join Rangers on a 3-year contract, don't think anyone will be surprised to hear that. Disappointed it never worked out for him here, everyone can draw their own conclusions as to why that is, be it that he's not actually that good or McInnes didn't get the best from him. Joe Shaughnessy was left left out of St Johnstone's squad yesterday as Tommy Wright has confirmed he's rejected a new contract, I wonder if he's coming back here? Might have other offers on the table so we'll see how that one pans out. And another name now being mentioned is Arnoud Djoum, Hearts fans on Social Media seem to know something we don't and are convinced he's coming here. -
They're fairly bumping their gums leading up to this game, first Gerrard and now Flanagan, fucking odious wankers. We've did relatively well against them this season, so there is generally nothing to " fear " but we are getting more and more depleted as the season goes on and I personally think it'll be too big an ask tomorrow, I think they have won their last 4 as well, quite comfortably, so they're going into this game with a degree of confidence, as should we considering how we've fared this season when up against them, however, as I alluded to, the squad isn't as whole as we'd like. I think it'll be a high scoring defeat tomorrow with a red card or two, sadly. Huns 4 vs 0 Aberdeen ( Would love to be proved wrong again )

Season 2019/2020 Rebuilding

Considine has, year after year, gradually improved his game and adapted to be more athletic to suit the LB role. He has been trusted by numerous managers now and fought hard to stay in the team. His attitude and willingness to get better can never be questioned, and this season he's had some stellar performances at CB, but he's also had some shocking ones too. He has also got away with some odd fouls, echoing what LA Don mentioned. Said it on several threads now, we can't afford to go into the new season with Considine as our main LB, but I'd be more than happy if he was kept as a back up, experienced Centre Back. I would definitely dismiss the Captaincy talk, he's not a loud guy, he's always been quite reserved on the pitch and I don't believe he has any leadership qualities. -
Cosgrove lost the plot because he was booked for nothing. Dicker goes down holding his face after an aerial challenge with Cosgrove and replays showed there was absolutely zero contact with his face, cheating cunt, I think he felt really aggrieved because of that. But he was still booked and he should have had the common sense to settle down, Gleeson had a go at him and kept removing him from confrontations after his booking. As for Gleeson himself, he does that side of the game really well, quietly effective, always looking for the ball and always passing forward, keeps possession simply and showed his experience when dealing with Cosgrove. Glad he got 90 minutes and still holding out that he's given more opportunities.
-
All things considered, it's a welcome 3 points. We were so depleted and had absolutely zero creativity out there, but we handled Killie well and took our chance when it came. 3 Points, clean sheet and into 3rd. Fuck Killie, their odd fans and their sour faced cunt of a manger. I thought all 3 reds were merited and Mulumbu could have been off as well, after kicking May when he was on the floor.
-
Difficult away game today, I think Kilmarnock have a full squad to choose from whereas we are rather depleted. Hopefully we at least have a psychological thing over the Killie players. Sadly though, I can't see us winning today, think we may come away with a score draw. Kilmarnock 1 vs 1 Aberdeen ( Wilson* ) *Comes off the bench with around 4 minutes remaining, goes on a mad run and fires a rocket into the top corner.

Season 2019/2020 Rebuilding

A quick look at available players this summer, after their contract expires at their current clubs, and there are a few players that I believe could do a job for us no problem. LB - Jake Bidwell ( Over 250 Appearances in the English Championship, 6ft, currently plays for QPR & is free in the Summer ) CDM - Josh McEachran ( Played a few senior games at Chelsea before being loaned out numerous times, also capped and scored at England Under 21 level. Currently playing for Brentford but again, contract expires at the end of the season, could be a replacement for Kenny McLean? ) Winger - Kazenga LuaLua - ( Senior appearances for both Newcastle United & Brighton, has good pace but perhaps lacks the finish to match, but clearly had or still has, something about him, currently at Luton Town and out of contract in the Summer ) Striker - Conor Washington ( Northern Irish Striker, 129 Goals in 337 Games throughout his career so far, NI International, currently plays for Sheffield United and out of contract in the Summer, only 26 years old, possibly mates with Niall McGinn through the National team set up which could work in our favour ) These are just players that are free to speak to other clubs, we haven't been linked with them or anything like that & obviously I have no idea about what McInnes has already done or is currently doing behind the scenes, but in my opinion, these are players that we could attract and could afford within our wage budget that could maybe improve us. We can't afford to go into next season with the likes of Considine as our main LB and Ball as a main CDM or just Cosgrove & May as our Strikers. The manager isn't stupid enough to do so, so I would hope we are making moves behind the scenes. -

Does anyone know what our numbers will be after the loans expire and the out of contract players leave, as well as the potential McKenna departure, and including the players currently loaned out ( Wright, Ross, Anderson etc... ) We could be facing the most threadbare squad come the end of the season that we have maybe witnessed previously ( In my lifetime that I remember anyway ) -

Have a Simmie. Never understood why fans have a go at other fans when they leave after witnessing such wankery from the team. Each to their own, I get that, but I wholeheartedly agree in the main that they're uppity wankers and happy clapping bell-ends. ( Here's me having a go at fellow fans, hypocritical prick ) -

Well, that was a horror show yesterday. After 120 seconds on the Clock, a Celtic Centre Back simply strolled through our entire midfield, even had a wee step over, and hit a decent effort which was saved well enough by Joe Lewis. I knew then what kind of afternoon we'd be in for. ( Not the discipline farce, just that we'd lose ) I am surprised he opted for Campbell, although as I mentioned earlier in this very thread, I thought he would if he was fit. I think it would have been wiser playing any one of Gleeson or Ball in the midfield, with Halford coming in at RB if it were to be Ball. As much as I have stated my belief that Stevie May is an utter flop, he should have remained on when Devlin was introduced, Stewart should have been taken off instead, at least with May you'll get some sort of effort and energy, Stewart is a Ball Carrier, and even at that, he's completely out of his depth on the Wing, it was embarrassing watching him trying to out pace that wee fucking rat Tierney. It was all wrong yesterday, and granted, Ball should never have been booked for his initial Yellow, but by fuck what was he doing for the second? Watching it back numerous times, he was miles off the pace and was never winning that header, a sensible head would have dropped back into position. He isn't sensible and the fact that people were creaming for him to be signed up, after watching an interview on RedTv, says more about them than it says about him FFS. At the very best, and I mean the tip of the Iceberg, he is a squad filler, preferably in the midfield and not in a Position where he has clearly struggled, he can't really be blamed on that front. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43767582 Also, see that article above there, it's our Manager talking after we got horsed by Motherwell exactly a year ago yesterday, same venue, same competition, same scoreline and same stage. " Maybe putting more faith in certain players to deliver better performances on the bigger stage." A direct quote from him, are we in a better position now than we were 12 months ago? I would say no, I would say we are regressing further, even more so than I stated we were earlier in the season. How many opportunities does he need to win the Cup? How many times have we been to Hampden and been bullied, outfought, outplayed and embarrassed? I genuinely couldn't give a fuck that we " At least get there " because you win absolutely fucking nothing for just getting there. His recruitment has been all wrong, his tactics, or whatever the fuck it is we deploy, is all wrong and certain players are nowhere near as good as they are made out to be. Would you honestly trust him with another Window, possibly 2? We need a fair amount of players next season, preferably permanent deals and perhaps that One loan player, like Hector, Ward, Maddison to bring that bit of class. We have the biggest budget outwith the cheeks, he's not really utilised it this season. -

Apparently we tried to sign a Striker called Adam Le Fondre in the Summer last year but he opted to go to Australia, either that, or we have approached him with a view to signing him this summer, you'll need to forgive me, I saw it on Twitter so never really paid complete attention. If it's the latter, then he is currently 32yo, plays for Sydney FC and has a pretty decent record from his time in England between 2007 & 2014, since then, the goals haven't been as free flowing. Has a slight tinge of Nicky Maynard about it in that it looks like a McInnes signing. Of course, it could be that we approached him last year so there is nothing in it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_le_Fondre -

I think Gleeson getting a good 25 minutes under his belt against Dundee suggests he'll be the replacement for Shinnie, that's if Campbell isn't fit, I reckon McInnes will opt for the youngster if he's fit. I'd be tempted to stick Devlin in for Considine as well, although Considine and McKenna have pulled out some pretty impressive performances in the " big games " this season so far, so he'll probably stick with it. Also, massive no to May starting! I know he brings energy but we need more than that to beat Celtic on Sunday, if things are going our way after an hour/70 Minutes, then yes, absolutely bring him on and let him run the channels etc... But if Stewart can produce anything close to his capabilities, we'll need him and not the likes of May. This will be a very big eye-opener, if you needed one, as to how much Shinnie's drive and energy will be missed when he fucks off, he did go through an odd spell of being pish, then good, then pish again, But he's been more consistent of late ( perhaps he's decided where he's going ) and it'll be a massive blow. I have advocated Gleeson to get more minutes because he's clearly a composed player with a decent pass on him, but he needs a Shinnie beside him for that to work in my opinion, Ball, Ferguson & Campbell are all too immobile, much like Gleeson it would seem, so that wouldn't go down too well. I have zero fear, doubt or worry about this game, as I said in a previous match thread, McInnes kind of knows what to expect from Lennon and if we are clinical enough at the top end of the pitch, we will be going back to Hampden! Watched Ghost Stories last night, it's on Netflix, I love the Horror Genre, and it takes a fair bit to spook me, but I thought that did the job, wasn't over bearing in terms of jump scares or that, just bubbled along nicely then boom! Shat myself numerous times. Absolutely recommend it.

Alan Nixon on Twitter just said that Derby are leading the race to sign Shinnie on a pre-contract, with Wigan also interested. Alan is pretty much on the money the majority of the time. I am absolutely certain that he won't be with us next season, you always have that cautious optimism when it's one of your best players, but if the likes of Derby are interested, then you'd have to concede defeat. -
Stewart in for Campbell is the only change. Campbell had a knock on his foot and looking likely to start in the Semi Final, so been left out altogether today. Dundee fans literally apoplectic about their line up today, said it's utterly defensive and they've left their two " goal threats " on the bench. May change my prediction to Dundee 0 vs 4 Aberdeen ( Cosgrove x 2, McLennan, Stewart )
-
Have no doubt that Dundee will be very difficult to play against today, but at the end of the day, they need wins to stay in the League, so I'd hope that they don't park the bus for the entirety as that is when we seem to struggle. They have lost 6 games in a row and conceded 14 goals in the process, scoring 3. We should go in to this game in the same mind frame as the Motherwell game, we weren't great but we were enough of a threat and that should be enough to secure 3 points. Dundee 1 vs 3 Aberdeen ( Cosgrove x 2, McLennan )

KennyFuckinPowers replied to KennyFuckinPowers's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Scary stuff, we will be as threadbare as fuck! Left Back is massive, we can't go with Considine as our 1st choice LB next season, as good a servant as the guy has been, he should be kept as a squad player only who can cover CB, or even LB in an emergency. I'd like to see us ffer Killie a fee for their LB, Greg Taylor, pretty energetic and pacy, would fit in nicely. That is only if we have zero chance in getting Lowe back. Centre Back, well IF McKenna does go, I'd have said the lad Halkett at Livingston would have been my choice to replace him, only 23, would have been free, a unit and knows the league, but he's Hearts bound. On the other hand, if Hoban was to be released by Watford, I'd love us to sign him permanently, albeit he's a risk, but he's a class act and we could also add Shaughnessy if he agrees the pre-contract, keeping the numbers up. Rico, regarding Shinnie, you are correct, there was a stage this season where I was really frustrated with him, he was under-performing and he looked down and unhappy, but he's back to the tenacious, driving midfielder that will absolutely be missed & will definitely be hard to replace. Could we lure Mulumbu away from Celtic? He's clearly not in their plans and at his age, you'd think he'd want 1st team football over a bigger wage, he's already had that down south, so surely the attraction of 1st team football, and still a decent enough wage, could lure him? -
Can't quite believe we're almost at the end of the Season, have to say, It has flew in, I know there is still a good few weeks left, but the Manager will be thinking about next season for sure. The likelihood is that GMS & Shinnie will be off, they'd surely have agreed an extension by now if they weren't? McKenna may have more interest and may leave, Stewart will go, Lowe will go, Gleeson ( Still not had a fair crack of the whip in my opinion ) will more than likely go also, Forrester already off the books, Hoban sadly injured, Reynolds off to Dundee United ( All the best ) James Wilson ( ) we will be rather light yet again. We're a good amount of players down. What are the key positions that we need to address? Will we finally expand our scouting network? This is arguably the most difficult task, in terms of recruitment, that McInnes will face.
