Hopefully Leigh isn't a cropper already, McInnes said in an interview a day or so after the friendly in where he got injured, that he should have been back for the 2nd leg vs Roviniemi. Obviously don't want to rush him back if he's not even remotely fit, but would be pretty shit if he is out longer than is being let on, Considine has been an able deputy, but my fuck he's regressed in that role recently and was turned far too easily several times against the Finnish mob. Hopefully Bryson gets 20-30 minutes under his belt and is in a position to start the return leg at Pittodrie. Would imagine Ojo will be put in from the start, despite his lack of a Pre-Season, he's been doing double sessions according to McInnes so he might be okay. Any win to take back to Pittodrie would be welcome. COYR

I'll be honest, I didn't see what everyone seemed to see in Ferguson last season, I thought he was slow, lethargic and guilty of poor passes and needless fouls. Last week, 2nd Half anyway, and for the majority of the 90 minutes tonight, I saw a more rounded player, he seems to excel more prominently in the attacking third as opposed to the sitting role. so hopefully, with Funso Ojo sitting, and the experienced Bryson beside him, he can be a big player for us this year. I thought he was very good tonight. Cosgrove was very disappointing, 2 glaring opportunities and he blew them, I am very hopeful that he's just rusty and that he'll start putting them away. Gallagher, I think he looks awfully " Kick & Rush " and that's not necessarily a bad thing, but he does have to learn his next pass, delivery and move a little more smarter if that makes sense, thought McGinn was well marshalled and gifted them the ball several times, and eventually and naturally, tired. Hedges looks technically gifted and he put in more than enough quality crosses in the 1st Half, which sadly we never took advantage of. Thought the game screamed out for Stevie May & Scott Wright to be honest, as it wore on anyway, to stretch them and put them on the back foot when they started being a bit more brave as the game neared the end. Yes, we are through, but we need to improve and by some margin, especially offensively. Maybe Wilson match fit can make a difference, but I fully expect us to be more direct and dangerous with McLennan in the 11, Ojo & Bryson in the midfield and Leigh at Left Back. Fingers crossed they all feature against the Georgian mob.

Hopefully this isn't some sort of whoosh moment here Manc, but Ojo isn't eligible for this game and Brophy is a Killie player as far as I am aware.

I really am torn on McInnes RS, and what exactly he's trying to do. The winning fuck all could have been so different had we won a couple of these Finals we've got too, but we didn't. My pet hate amongst many is " At least we're reaching Finals etc.... " maybe so, but you win fuck all for reaching them, so it's irrelevant. I feel he's a safe bet, I predicted a 4th place finish last season, hoping the Cups would provide a much needed distraction, I was right to an extent ( Smug cunt ) but you could see it a mile away, the Football was utterly turgid and he didn't seem to change it up. We play 1 Striker and send hopeless punts up to him, then folk moan that the lone Striker is pish and that he's the problem, yet he scored 21 goals last season with shite service. The very same people then Champion the absolutely dire Stevie May to replace him, the same guy that's played 67 times, netting 6 goals and assisting 4 goals & looks like he literally shits himself when presented with a decent chance in front of goal. I suppose for me personally, as I said on a thread the other day there, we should aiming to win the League until it's mathematically impossible, we should lift at least one Domestic Trophy every year and hopefully qualify for the Group Stages of the Europa League, that's my aspirations and I feel that they are not out of reach. A different manager may well have came in and progressed us, continuing on from the foundations that McInnes has lay, much like he did when Brown stepped down, but people are happy to argue that, as I said there, " we're reaching Semi Finals and Finals " I only speak for myself of course, I don't particularly like the cunt, nor do I hate him, I just wish we'd let teams worry about us rather than the opposite. He has recruited what seems like on paper, a decent squad this season, compared to previous seasons, this is probably my last season giving him the benefit of the doubt, because this is his 6th year I believe? He's had more than enough time to deliver another Trophy, qualify for Europa League Group Stages etc...

Season 2019/2020 Rebuilding
KennyFuckinPowers replied to KennyFuckinPowers's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Yes, yes & yes again. This was a big bugbear of mine last season. This time around, we only have Gallagher & Leigh, and to be honest, if things all go well, there's probably a good chance both players could become permanent anyway. Ojo is basically Jack's replacement. He said he likes to get on the ball and give it to the players that make things happen, he's a sitting midfielder. He said that he spoke to a few players in England and that he almost didn't want to come up to Scotland due to their comments, thankfully he came and seen for himself. Can't really think of any more positions we need to fill now, and that's our 8th signing this summer, if they all bed in nicely and hit the ground running, this could be a rather productive season. I am certainly happy with the business thus far. -

Imagine Ojo made another U-Turn and signed for Hibs after all....... Expected the lad to be announced today, but looking unlikely, perhaps we'll get it on Monday. I see plenty of News sources claiming we were trying to sign John Bostock on loan from Toulouse, but ended that due to the arrival of Ojo. -

He's a good experienced Full Back, who chips in with the odd goal, assist and can defend against wingers. He's still one of the better RB's in the League and whilst I agree that he's not been at his best this last 12-18 months, he still has a season or two in him. Gallagher for me, on the basis of last night, would be a good wide attacking midfield option, who can help out the full backs as well as create plenty. Similar to McGinn of old and Hayes, when he was here. Hopefully Virtanen can take over Logan's position when he eventually leaves/retires, unless we bring in another permanent RB to replace him. -

From Robert Thomson, of The Sun. Aberdeen will announce his arrival in the next 24 hours and he will be registered for the next round of the Europa League if they get past Finns RoPS. A reporter for ScunthorpeLive has also confirmed that he's signing a 2 year contract with us. Will wait for the confirmation from ourselves obviously, but if these guys are to be believed, then welcome aboard Funso. -
Season 2019/2020 Rebuilding

I thought Shay was pretty good last night, barring his odd lapse in concentration that eventually led to their goal. But defensively he was sound and showed plenty of energy getting up and down the wing, much more like it from him. -
For me personally, as obviously I don't speak for every Aberdeen supporter, I feel like it's a safe bet. He's steadied us, brought 1 Cup in 2014 and qualified for Europe every season. The only way he can really be a " success " now is to actually deliver another domestic trophy or two and get into the group stages of Europe. In terms of the League, we should aiming to win it until it becomes mathematically impossible, I don't buy into the " Try and get 3rd " mantra that's been coming out of Pittodrie for the last few months. Maybe someone could progress us further than McInnes, plays attacking, attractive football etc... Or maybe we'd get stuck in rut and regress further than we were in terms of last season.

Agree new deals until 2022. Please delete thread if there's another one somewhere on the Forum, that I could have posted this on, couldn't find it if there is.

This Dylan McGeouch saga is dragging on. According to Richard Gordon last night, we have had an offer accepted for him. Yesterday though, here is an article with Jack Ross, claiming he wants McGeouch to stay and claims McGeouch himself wants to stay. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/latest-sunderland-afc-news/jack-ross-reveals-the-latest-on-dylan-mcgeouchs-sunderland-future-451969 I know things change quickly in Football, but this is dragging on, I was told we had an offer for him accepted over a week ago, but he rejected our contract, which was a 4 year contract, then we tried to go down the Loan route, but would appear he's maybe had a change of heart and wants to come permanently. I have a feeling we'll sign him one way or another, be it permanently or a loan, but I hope he's not holding us to ransom, maybe hoping someone else comes in for him or that. -

The guy scored 21 goals last season. And he's also far more effective when the ball is actually played to his feet. We should have Main or Wilson playing off of him, like we should have done with Stewart last season. Fuck Stewart though, he's not our player. Cosgrove is, as it stands, our most effective forward, our manager just seems to enjoy punting the ball, something we didn't do, or certainly not as much, when we had a trio of Hayes, McGinn & Rooney. -

Especially when you see who our closest competitors are signing, not a lot to worry about in my honest opinion. Still need to get it right come match day of course, and there's still a long way to go until the window closes, but I feel cautiously optimistic ( tm Craig Brown ) heading into this season. Would love us to reach the group stages in the Europa League this time. -
An Aberdeen XI got absolutely pumped tonight. They lost 8-1 to Elgin. Cerny in goals, Frank Ross & Bruce Anderson started, other than that though, was all kids, however, that's not an excuse, shocking result whatever way you look at it. Michael Ruth opened the scoring for us, then it went to shit quickly after. We shall not speak of it again.

Highlights of the goals on RedTV now, first one was good running, perseverance and a stroke of luck from Scott Wright to set up Cosgrove, very unselfish from Wright as could have easily hit an effort on target. Second goal was good build up play, Hedges involved in most of it, some neat possession, 1-2 passing and an assist to Logan, who finished well. Hedges looked good in the CQN highlights as well, he could be a real find, fingers crossed. Nothing else to report as that's all they showed. McInnes said we should have Bryson, McGinn, McLennan & Main back in the squad for the ICT friendly.

Sorry Dan, I was only listening on RedTV. First 30 minutes seemed pedestrian, according to Andrew Shinie, but turned the screw and had a few chances, Ferguson hit the Bar & their keeper apparently made several decent saves.

Finished 2-0 ( Cosgrove, Logan )

HT vs Peterhead. 1-0 to the good, Cosgrove goal, Wright assist.

Season 2019/2020 Rebuilding
KennyFuckinPowers replied to KennyFuckinPowers's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
So far, senior players only........ OUT - Graeme Shinnie, Gary Mackay-Steven, Mark Reynolds, Greg Halford, Greg Stewart, Dominic Ball & Max Lowe IN - Curtis Main, James Wilson, Ryan Hedges, Ash Taylor, Craig Bryson, Greg Leigh & Jon Gallagher Allegedly, Stephen Gleeson is in talks with a couple of Clubs in England, not sure what to make of that given McInnes said he's actually injured, but could be true ( Easy does it Rico ) and we also apparently agreed terms with Sunderland regarding McGeouch, but failed to agree personal terms with him. Midfielder being the main target before Friday, just won't be McGeouch.
