No Shinnie or Christie???

Wtf Strachan.

I agree we should keep the same team who should've beaten England but bringing in Whittaker and excluding them?

Tierney and McLean both pull out of squad and Kristi Montgomery (no me either) has been called up from under 21s as a result.

Born in Leeds

Twenty two year old, capped from U16 to U21 for Scotland

Thirty plus first team games for Blackburn Rovers in midfield

Good article about the potential Scotland lineup under the new manager, where you can select your preferred team. It suggests that the manager prefers a 3-4-2-1. Unfortunately Pocognoli will be unable to share his team with the BBC, as their team picker doesn't allow for this formation. @Panda , can you speak to the lads in IT for him?

Written by Thomas Duncan, who is one of us - a good dandy.

You can pick 3-4-3 which is almost the same thing.

I want to pick 3-4-2-1 like the article suggests thank you very much. Taxes, pay their wages etc.

Serious point here despite your piss take. You read nonsense like this all the time saying a manager prefers a certain formation. I hope in this case that is totally unfounded. Surely any decent manager would (or should) assess the players available to them before deciding what formation to play. For a start, we don't have two decent centre halves never mind three. Also, you would think with Robertson and Hickey being two of our best players, you would be playing them in their natural position rather than some stupid wing backy,/midfield type role.

I agree with the first part, but also think that our centre backs are best suited to a three, and Hickey and Robertson aren't good enough at defending for a back four! Also, with international football, there's probably a bit more room to choose from a much wider of pool of players. His squad could include only players that fit his proposed style.

I've never understood the whole "preferred formation/style" either, it does suggest that managers are entirely inflexible and can only play one way, which seems a bit ridiculous. What's really weird is that there's a suggestion that clubs employing a manager are looking for that inflexibility and value it. I'm sure/hope there's a lot more to it.

Agreed, It makes no logical sense. The managers choice of formation has to always be flexible based on a whole variety of reasons and if its not they're a shit coach

Thought we might start with Bowie instead of McBurnie given his previous of not turning up for squads.

Interesting lineup. I'm guessing a 3-4-1-2, rather than a 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 as hinted at. A reasonably strong side, and will be good to see how two new strikers get on in an area we've struggled in for the last decade.

I like the idea behind the 3-4-1-2. Suits what we've got.

Maybe it’s my tv but I can’t see anything in the shaded area.

We are same.

Poor start and probably lucky not to be 1 down.

Very lucky not to be behind, it’s coming. The usual, when we are shit central midfield is non existent. Has mcginn touched the ball??

Fixed that for you 😉

Far too much space between the 3 centre backs. We play like this against Switzerland and we might get a bit of doing.

Ended the half well when we started to get McGinn and McBurnie involved. Welsh playing in his wrong side automatically slows things down, although I think that the intention behind it is that McKenna stays central while Henry steps forward. When Henry does go forward everything opens up for us, it brings Hickey in and leaves a man free, usually McGinn or McBurnie. Ure looks good, and great to see him take on a shot instead of the easy option of passing. Early stages, but can see some positives. Will be interesting to see us progressing it. Subs will be very key. I suspect we might not see our 8 goals in the second half because of the shaded part.

Terrible stadium design to end up with this ridiculous shaded area.

McBurnie is never going to score a goal for Scotland

Fuck me McBurnie. Nisbet would have buried that.

Time for some subs. Get rid of McBurnie permanently.

Better this half at least. Much more aggressive in the press.
